Just going to mention something, I stumbled upon a 5:51 speedrun (not tas) of this game (0 star): http://youtu.be/iX5BZDiBnYw I don't think it's the same as andypanther's one 'cause that video is private, also by seeing the words unoptimized it sounds like a tas. :/

Does anyone else have a problem in the New whomp king level where the game freezes?
So yea, how's it going? Currently TASing: Nothing

I made a dull freerun. I don't finish it.

I did a 100% playthrough of it a month or so ago, and I really enjoyed it. The link to my playlist is http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC8DA3A3D251097DF&feature=plcp if anyone wants to check it out. Note that I've never played the game beforehand so there's a lot of stumbling around, just so you're aware =P There are a couple of bugs, though, that may require you to reset your emulator, such as Koopa the Quick glitching in a couple of levels and a boat not showing up when it's supposed to be for a star - but overall it's a very good game, worthy of a TAS (100% at least) in my opinion. I'll be eagerly waiting for a TAS of this game.

I think it's too much of the same action as the Super Mario 64 0-star run to be worth publishing. It shows almost none of the game.

To be perfectly blunt, I have no interest in watching a 0 star run. I'd love to see a 100% run with no BLJ.

Didn't see a topic for this, if there is already one which I haven't seen... then sorry in advance. Anyway, here are some TASes that I have made of the hack: Freeruns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB_yXZT6v04&list=UUa94GvL7tqK9QEdzsywMClA&index=0&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJiJz-VvTgQ Speedruns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzP1J1R2cyM&feature=channel&list=UL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSsHxDxus3s

Nice TASes. The Wooden Construction one is my favorite one. I think all of the Super Mario 74 posts are mixed in with the Super Mario 64 posts, and that's why there wasn't a topic for this game before.

Wasn't there a submission of this game that got rejected?

I sent this message to Skelux on YouTube: I plan to make an 80 Stars BLJless TAS of SMSR. I was curious if you plan on releasing another patch anytime soon or if "Deluxe" is going to be the main version for awhile. I'm going to ask some people what they think about whether I should use 1.0 or the newest. If they say the newest, when I start TASing depends on your answer. Thanks! - SP ---------- So time for that question! 1.0 or newest preferred? Edit: I have the best TASVideos post number ever.

1.0 or "final" would be a better question, IMO. If he doesn't think it's complete and wants to do more work on it, then 1.0 would be my pick because TASing "newest" will lead to unnecessary drama when the TAS is done and is 4 versions behind the "newest"...

I think a full game TAS of a category should be done on the lastest released version of this hack. And if Skelux created a new vesion. It should be done there, so long there aren't new stars, new ways, or something else, what does change the hack. All versions are much different, in the first released version are the walls at the begin not stable. So you can go through the walls with BLJ (Not important for 80 Stars BLJless) But i want just say, that the versions have differences which can save a lot of seconds. Also because of the replica stars bug fix, should be used the new version. But that is just my opinion. Edit: Also hexing stuff doesn't work at all for the different versions. So it's confusing to do TAS stuff in this hack in all versions. It should keep only one version, and newest is optimal for that.

I agree with Dennis and bkDJ. If Skelux says he doesn't plan on updating the ROM anymore (or the updates only being minimal), I am thinking of using Deluxe. For anyone that doesn't know, here's the description of said ROM: "Super Mario Star Road Deluxe is an updated version of Super Mario Star Road which features fully shaded levels, an improved camera, option to play in hard mode, and many bug fixes. This is essentially just patch 1.0, but enough changes have been made since the initial release that I decided to give it a more unique name."

If Skelux wouldn't update his Star Road hack lots of times by bug fix patches and newly released "Deluxe" version, there probably wouldn't be any confusions about what version to choose. Sonicpacker, you should probably use the latest version released for Star Road, but then you wouldn't probably be able to hex these stars: http://sm64.org/wiki/index.php/SMSR_TAS_Records That "Deluxe" version has a very bad camera, with which you wouldn't hex any of the stars in the link provided above. The camera in older hacks like Super Mario 74 or Twisted Adventures was better imo. Also some simple bugs like hanging on the side of the 20 star door to get to Bowser's Slippery Swamp are fixed. Also Skelux use filebox.com for uploading his hack, and that site seems not to work propertly, because usually you get this message: "This user is out of bandwitch". Who needs a download links to Star Road, check out my website (not sure if I can post download links to hacks here.)
