While I do see the merits of one encoder logo for all tasvideos encodes, I like the personalized encoder logos people use. As little as it is, they carry a certain personality and offer a more human, approachable side to our videos. Additionally, I do feel encoders should get the recognition they deserve for their work, and a logo does a very fine job in doing so. If we are going to introduce a centralized tasvideos logo for all encodes, I feel that it should also mention the encoder's name and be designed to be aesthetically appealing. Keeping it in the site's color scheme should be a good approach.

It's a serious suggestion (at least the "use Aegisub" aspect - how else will non-static info be included, via image editor?)
I'd use avisynth, but I think this is the wrong way to go. You're basically copying all the information that is readily available on the run page and leaving off the one piece of information that isn't on the run page, the encoders name... :(

If the logo contains a link to the submission then of course all that info isn't required. The encoder could be easily added. ... So encodes show a logo like this and the link and the encoder? width=320 width=256

There are two things I'm against in general. The first is having links in the video. The thing with hyperlinks is that you're meant to click on them, not type them in. Most people use Google to type "tasvideos donkey kong 2 102%" because complete words you don't have to recite are faster to type in than sequences like "http://" and "3578S.html" that are meant to be understood by computers, not people. This saves time and isn't annoying, so surrounding useful information by noise makes it harder to digest. "The homepage of this movie is TASVideos.org" is quite enough for any non-braindead person to find what TASVideos is. The second is hardcoding any information that is not completely necessary into the video stream. What in my opinion classifies as completely necessary, in decreasing order of importance: 1) that it is a TAS*; 2) what game is it; 3) what is the goal and the end time; 4) who is the author; 5) where to get more stuff like this; 6) who to go to if the video itself has problems. All the rest should either be in soft form or moved to the text accompanying the video. Forcing that huge mass of text in particular is pointless because it conveys very little useful information aside from what is completely necessary, yet makes digesting this information a work. Assuming that anybody except the true enthusiasts likes doing more work than what is completely necessary, or assuming that anybody is as great an enthusiast as yourself, are symptoms of acute brain linuxitis. When you make something as simple as digesting textual information a work by laying it over moving video, forcing somebody to rewind to "frame 0" and pause, the only thought that I expect from somebody who hasn't been prepared for this is "fuck that". * — Rerecord count is completely unnecessary, especially since people who don't know much about TASes don't even know what a rerecord is, but it serves as an additional flag of tool-assistance and thus it's likely not a good idea to drop it from mandatory subtitles. Stuff like the amount of frames, though, is completely pointless because only the authors of the movie would be able to put that number into perspective.

Rerecord count is necessary in the encode, allowing other people to link to the video (not submission) when they are talking about its rerecords (that happens). Also I always like to know WHO has encoded a video and love beautiful logos, like Nahoc's ones. And I think my logo is very well done in terms of highlighting the things of importance, and stylistically. EDIT: Wait, do you mean we shall move some of the stuff we put into subtitles to logos?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

If you're referring to my post, I'm talking about all the information we put into the video stream. Only necessary stuff should be there, the rest is way better served as external text.
