Baxter: This movie is full of entertaining TASing that is not present in the 0 or 120 star runs that allow BLJs. There is nothing wrong with choosing restrictions and goals that may appear slightly arbitrary, in order to show off an aspect of the game that is underrepresented in the published TASes or significantly different in some other way. This movie does this well, and is therefore accepted to be published alongside the 0 and 120 star runs.
How exactly this run should be labeled, or what restrictions would be superior is up for debate, but it does not negate the above judgement.
YES vote, hands down! This run was thoroughly entertaining to watch. I haven't been this entertained since the 120-star and 16-star runs of this game.
Its hard to pick a favorite moment..all the coin collecting runs were really cool. And the Bob-omb tricks were hilarious. XD
Fantastic run, thoroughly entertaining. No reason at all not to vote yes.
If you would vote no for not using the BLJ, maybe it would speed up times in some stars but then the run would be arbitrary for not just flying through doors.
Have fun deciding the screenshot!
I went in purposely wanting to vote No because it's NOT 120 stars... and ended up finishing the run wanting MORE, but VERY entertained! Definitely hope to see a BLJless 120 Star Run if it looks as sweet as this.
This is DEFINITELY a surprising Yes vote for me!

<OmnipotentEntity> How do you people get bored in the span of 10 seconds? Worst ADD ever.
16 authors and none of you can write up run comments? For shame. (In all seriousness, this was amazing and I'm going to go watch it again now.)
Stars collected: 70
Stars where the description at least vaguely matches what Mario did to obtain it: about 10
Stars collected as the developers intended: Well, there's Toad and the bunny...
Designer of Copy Kitty, a game about giant robots and explosions
the run was fantastic and I loved it, but…
some of the known improvements look easily hexable, why weren’t those implemented…? for example, “Metal-Head Mario can Move”, which uses a different strategy entirely…
also I find rather pointless the branch “BLJless” as a 70 stars run would obviously be BLJless, you don’t need to spell it out
there are already known improvements, since this run is so long many things can’t be hexed due to RNG, I doubt the authors plan on touching this again for a long time
I was gonna make that joke myself, but then I saw the “known improvements” table :P
@sonicpacker: what about “Metal-Head Mario can Move” for example? I think it’s an old record, so I’m guessing the 70 stars run wouldn’t have gotten past it at the time it was made… then why was it not used?

Using the triple jump off the "!" box strat is relatively new for Metal-Head Mario Can Move. As you can see, Nahoc's WR for that star BLJless was uploaded in December. The 70 Star was far past HMC at that time.

The first thing I noticed was the fact that Jesus co-worked in the production of this TAS.
Anyway, what else is there to be said than an obvious yes vote?

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.

<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
this is a really well done run, but I don't think a 70 star run shows anything that a 120 star run doesn't already show.
Really think it should just be any% and 100%
That said this run is better then the current 120 star run so idk.
gets a meh I guess
There's one huge difference, though: The 120-star run is an hour longer. That's quite a lot to sit through. 40 minutes is still within barely bearable limits.
I really feel bad because there's obviously a lot of work in this run and there's so many authors involved, but I've got to vote no. First, it just collects 70 stars instead of 120, so the run feels incomplete. But most importantly, I don't see the pertinence of a BLJless category, especially when I compare it to the currently-published 120 stars run which barely uses BLJ inside levels. They're way too similar.
As far as I know, BLJ is not a bug that destroys normal gameplay, so this run just feels like a step backwards for me. I could be wrong though, and if I am, I'd like to see a run on TASVideos that completely abuses BLJ to collect all the stars in the game. Until then, I'm sticking to my no vote.
Haha, there's always at least one.
Don't worry, it's obviously getting published despite silly votes like this. :D Congrats on this run, guys. It's the best SM64 TAS I've ever seen. None of that ridiculous modern tech which makes every star the same, just good old fashioned optimised playing. IMO, this run should be given the star from the 0 star run. :)
After seeing so many nearly identical 0-star runs i had kinda lost my interrest in SM64 TASes. This run changed that however! Super entertaining, incredible quality, awesome strategies etc etc etc... There's no such thing as a no vote for a run like this.
And the category seems very well defined and argued for (i.e it doesn't feel "arbitary" at all) and provides much needed diffrence from 0 star/120 star runs.
Fantastic job on this. (yes vote)

It's not a silly vote because it doesn't agree with your opinion on the run. Remarks like those are among the reasons why people simply will not vote no or meh on runs, because if they do, they will get bashed by other, "more famous", users.
That being said, I enjoyed the run and I think this is a good run to have published on the site. I vote yes.
