Seeing this game destroyed could be interesting after watching the hell the LP'ers went through.
Only interesting if it doesn't use the dash levitation or travel on alternate layer tricks (up+down puts you on a different plane/layer)

I was wondering if version 2.0 was on it's release way... I think everybody would like a TAS of this game.

Hey cool, I didn't know you liked TAS runs Wak. I still remember when SSBM: Advanced How To Play came out. I still haven't gone Pro in HRC though, haha. At any rate, I haven't heard hide nor hair in the way of updates. Not even ROMhacking seems to know what happened to SePH.
Working on a mod of an old favorite in my spare time. PM for updates!

SePH was working on it for awhile but lost interest in it. Euclid hasn't got any interest either really. But SePH has said that he might get back to it, depending on other stuff he has to do. I have, more or less, planned a TAS of the first version. But I don't see much reason to start one in case the other one will show up.

I was thinking of recording an entire playthrough of this game and this is the first segment of my playthrough. I find the sound of my voice isn't very good/clear so I might end up adding annotations to the videos rather then speaking over the game. (Or just not add anything to the videos except in the description under them...) You'll notice once I enter the Guardhouse I changed some settings in the emulator, first I switched from a 5:4 aspect ratio to a 4:3 ratio and then I turned off the HQ4x video filter. If you prefer the filter staying on I can leave it on as I prefer it turned on, I only turned it off as I realize some people won't like how it makes stuff appear. (4:3 display mode is a permanent change though as I just can't stand 8:7 or whatever the SNES displays at and 4:3 is what I grew up with) Anyways, I was wondering what you guys think of it so far? Do any of you have any suggestions or thoughts on the video that you'd like to share/see in future segments? Segments: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

I've never seen this hack my self I think. Even less so have I played it of course. Are you planning to TAS it too?

I loved how challenging this hack was back when I used to play it. Unfortunately it is a bit messy and could probably considered abandoned unless the authors switched sites or something.

No, never TAS'd a thing before. My intentions are to 100% the playthrough in terms of items/upgrades. If you don't like gratuitious use of save states then you should probably stay away from the hack as it has some incredibly tough battles in it, in fact I encounter one such battle in Part 4 that is required to be beaten at the very least, twice in order to beat the dungeon legitimately. I ended up using save states to beat it after a couple legitimate attempts against it though I cut out most of that when editing the video footage. ( Part 4 is also uploaded) Edit: It won;t move the opening bracket onto the same line as the URL D:

Shortly after the game was released I made a little speedrun (Intended as a walkthrough at first) for people who were stuck. Played through the game, very unoptimised and doesn't even finish, in about 2½ hours. Found here. My intentions after that has been to make an actual TAS. I wanted to wait for the 2.0 release that SePH was working on before. He has stated that he might return to it one day. Possibly after finishing the hack he is currently working on: http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ If I made a TAS with the current version of the game (1.1) I would have to climb the Parallel Tower three times. Which will be highly annoying looking in a run I can imagine. As well as the many bugs that may occur while playing the game. So that's why I have yet not started a full run. I made a glitched TAS three years ago however, same boring run as the ALttP glitched: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/191537828/ParallelWorldsGlitchedTAS.smv Also, Franpa, what exactly is your purpose with the playthrough? It doesn't really feel like it has anything to do with either speedrunning or TASing the game.

Hmm, I was thinking this topic would fall in to the "Discussion about games" category but I guess not. It's just me advertising my playthrough essentially so it might probably be more suitable if it was moved to the Off-Topic section of the forum. Perhaps my videos can be of use to someone planning to TAS/Speedrun? I'd be interested in a TAS that doesn't exploit the glitch that lets you walk through walls as well as the glitch that lets you rapid repeat dash over pits without falling (That would break Impa's Pathways dungeon so much it would be sad). Part 5 is available and most parts have been switched to the Creative Commons license: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqdNrAdSseA

Fun to watch this cool hack :) remember I enjoyed it alot I thought I'd share a semi-TAS I did on this game (it reaches *almost* the end) (non-tas gameplay, but redone when I didn't like a short section) free for others to use/finish http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1505966684/LOZ%20-%20Parallel%20Worlds%201.1.smv

...Why are people posting (not even) LP's here? You want to see an LP you go to http://lparchive.org/ not TASvideos. One site is for LPs on is for TASs. Clue is in the title.

Well this section specifically states that it is for discussion of SNES games amongst other stuff, so it doesn't necessarily have to be TAS related. One of my goals here was to get some discussion about this hack happening and it kinda did happen but yeah I went about this whole thing pretty poorly. I'll just wait until I have beaten the game, uploaded all segments and added various annotations before updating this thread again.
