Are you referring to the final boss or the "save one frame off the bottom of the ladder" trick?
I find the ladder trick quite nice, but I was referring to the final boss.

Glitchman, are you going to finish this run soon?

I dunno. :( I'm stuck on a frame of lag on Wind Man's stage (fifth room, the one with all the enemies and lag). The worst part of it is: it's right on the upper platform when I begin sliding. Normally there wouldn't be a frame of lag there (since they usually begin when a screen starts scrolling and/or there are too many sprites on screen). Come on! There aren't THAT many sprites on the screen for it to do that! This is going to take me a bit longer because of the fact that I'm having a horrible time dealing with lag. Maybe I'm going too fast and the game can't keep up. >:( That shouldn't be the case but right now I'm thinking that it is.

Finally! I got past the horrible room with the horrible lag! So far I saved a total of 5 frames off my latest WIP.

Nice. Lol, how many WIPs of Wind Man's stage have you made by now?

Thanks! :D Edit (11/7/2009): I just finished the 1st and 2nd rooms of Flame Man's level! I just passed the first large oil pit on the 3rd room and boy did I ever find a big time saver (20 frames off my most recent WIP that I posted on here)! I'll post my newest WIP when I'm done with that stage! :D

On second thought I will just go ahead and post the WIP right now to show you all the time saver in the 3rd room (1st large oil pit) that I was talking about. Even though I wasn't done with that stage, I didn't want to keep you guys waiting: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1563515452/Mega%20Man%206%20%28U%29%20by%20GlitchMan%28WIP10%29.fm2 I'm also having luck manipulation problems with enemies again (I seem to be running into that problem a lot lately)! They just won't stop dropping those flames that cause lag. :(

I have discovered how the boss in Wily Stage 1 works: If the frame counter (00F3) is set at a multiple of 20 (hex) it fires a platform that Mega Man can jump on. This is just like the frame counter thing I discovered in Mega Man 3 with the boss invincibility. It has a lot of uses now.

Not really (I'm still on level 1). I've been too busy with other things like school and work. I just haven't been able to find the time. Now that school just ended for me (my finals was this past week) I think I will have more time.

I've been experimenting recently with Megaman 6, and I've found that there are some very interesting case by case tricks that look interesting but don't save much time (or even waste it) so they probably never would be used in a fully fledged playthrough. I was wondering because of this whether or not a playaround would be acceptable. I mean, the boss order could be varied, bosses could be beaten with different weapons, rush adaptor tricks, slick kamikaze shots... the list goes on. Also since nothing really has to be optimized (in terms of perfection at least- obviously we want fast movement) it means it could also be an easier TAS. So what do you think? Would anyone be interested in seeing it?

I found it a bit bland since all the weapons are really generic and all bosses only have one weakness, unlike the mixed-ness of MM2-4. But if you find some interesting things, by all means, I'd support it. =)

Ah, well see thats exactly it. It can make it more exciting by, say, using obscure ways to beat bosses, like using wind storm on Centaur man or knight crush on Tomahawkman. Also many of the weapons have ways to attack enemies from far off or odd angles like using kight crush to kill several enemies on its way back or something similar to that. I'm still brain storming, so of course it's likely to be more interesting in the final product.

Don't forget to post WIPs here when you start. Sounds quite promising.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
