What is not working? I don't see you submitting the movie again... What I mean is that the movie used to begin with: 46 43 4D 1A 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 It should begin with: 46 43 4D 1A 02 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 That is, change the byte at address 0008 to value 02 (was 00).

And wasn't it going to be on Super NES so you could skip the star-collecting and play every single level? Who's going to do it?

No, the SMB2j thread is here. Posting to the right thread is important. If it didn't matter which thread we post to, we wouldn't have threads here. Everything would be going on in just one thread. Threads are there so that you can find the right topic fast. It's help in searching. And also for keeping topics in topic -- easier to discuss.

corect me if I'm wrong, but is this a thread about a warping time run or a complete one? (because honestly a complete run with up+down trick would kick so much ass)

Both :) Isn't someone doing a complete run?

I started, then stopped for a few days while waiting for Sleepz's warped run (because I would be able to drop time). However, I picked up speedrunning Silent Hill 3 during those few days and that's what I spent my Spring Break doing instead... Although the work I did before was neat, it all needs to be redone to take advantage of Sleepz's new ideas.

Any progress? Anyone still taking this to task? I can't be the only one looking forward to a warpless run.

How about starting making it then? Don't be scared of the sheer accuracy the gurues do their movies in! Do the best you can, given your resources, and see what people think of it! Besides, it might encourage people to actually start competiting on it (as for precision).

Oh, I'd like to, but I really lack the necessary skill and patience to do that. ^_~

It's true, though. I toyed around with FCEU a bit, but I found it lacks real usability for tool-assisted recordings. (Yeah, I know, others seem to be able to use it without problems, but I personally feel that I have to work against the emulator, not with it, so to speak. It's kinda like trying to edit a text file in vi.) But even outside of that, I don't have the patience to do tens of thousands of re-records, and I don't have the skill to play the game in a way that would lower the amount of re-records needed by any significant amount. Maybe it'll change some day, but I'd just be delusioning myself if I pretended things weren't like that now.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Full run for SMB 1 and 2, I think they'd be great. I want to see a full run done with each character, hehe. I'm thinking of doing a few runs myself if I can. Need a new controller first, cause the one I have keeps crapping out with my Emulators.

I started working on one back when my Spring Break started, but stopped after World 1 because Sleepz was almost done with his (currently-published) warp run (with tricks that would speed up my WIP by at least 7 seconds). http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=180 This is apparently the last WIP I posted: http://www.kraftfam.org/~erk/nesvideos/smb2.zip It should finish World 1 unless I'm mistaken. Also, why didn't I continue working on it? Well, between my stopping and Sleepz publishing, there was yet another post at Speed Demos Archive talking about Silent Hill 2-4 runs, and I started working on a Silent Hill 3 speed run. That's my current project. (Will I start working on SMB2 warpless again? If somebody else doesn't pick it up, I'll probably return to it after the SH3 stuff, but there's no telling when I'll be done with that so...)

I've got rough ideas how they work. Those that hadn't been done before I slightly understood because I had played a-frame-at-a-time, and ones like the level 2 vegetable idea made sense since I had read a little about that glitch. In any case, if anybody is going to make a full stage run, my run through World 1 might give you ideas how to handle the new part of World 1-3 (including the final version of my Mouser fight). (The link is somewhere in this thread, not too far back)
