In sfa1 the first four characters you fight are semi random, basically there are two different sets, I wanted to play with Rose and Guy, and the first three Rose fights on this path will skip three Guy fights.
In the second ken fight what happens is, Ken gets hit by a ground normal on the same frame he blocks a shadow. Because ground moves can't be air blocked, this makes him take full damage from the normal but still block the shadow.
The way redizzies works in this game is, once a character becomes dizzy the next thing that hits him won't cause any stun, but after that he takes stun like normal. So any combo that can stun and still do an extra hit can also redizzy.
In most street fighter games supers don't cause any stun, in sfa Guy's are an exception and do a very small amount of stun.
Whiffing moves gains meter, so anytime I wiff that's the reason.
There is no damage scaling in this game, but damage and stun values are slightly random.
Guy's s.HK doesn't have a push box for part of it, so in some situations he can pass through the opponent.
The way Juggles work in this game is, a character can be hit by a move with juggle potential as long you hit them before they start falling. Roses shadows have a high juggle potential, Guy's punch super and his tatsu have some too.
Sodom has a detached crouching hit real when hit by a light attack. That's why I manipulate him into crouching at 5:23 and hit him with a bunch of jabs.

DarkKobold: Judging.

DarkKobold: This is one of those videos which is ill suited for this audience. As demonstrated by error1 and Greenalink, there is a deep understanding for the game's fan base. However, it is hard for the general audience to see anything other than random hits and occasional combos. Good technical achievement (as far as I can understand, from the posts) but it is a poor game choice. Rejecting.

Nach: Accepting for vault.

adelikat: Setting this back to rejected status, because it is an entertainment based movie with poor audience reception. It is therefore not Vault-eligible or Moon-eligible.

OK, another Street Fighter movie... so WHERE ARE THE GLITCHES?... I could only spot some "interesting" parts which would be Ken's 2nd Round, Adon looking like he's made out of rubber (really, why he bounces like that?), Sagat's kick in the nuts (Around 620) and Bison 2nd round. But still, the lack of A.I. going nuts or make something happen when it's not supposed to makes me think (as always) this kind of movies are well made and maybe for some enthusiast is really good BUT the question here is if this movie is WORTH publication which in my opinion is a "No vote". Sorry if I sounded rude but fighting games are usually REALLY hard to make publishable material mostly because they MUST be a glitch fest to be so.

Thanks for providing an encode with this! As for the run, I can't really get into it too much. I'm not really very knowledgeable about the details of fighting games, which would probably make me appreciate it more. It just felt a lot slower paced than most fighting game stuff we see here. The 23-hit combo with Rose's sliding shadows were cool, and Guy showed off some nifty tricks. The damage Rose took in her second match looked sloppy. I can't decide what to vote yet, but I'm leaning towards a weak Meh. I guess the big question that should be asked here is: how much of this run shows off the benefits of tool assistance? In other words, could a real-time player do most of this?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

Ok this was sweet. I liked the awesome punishment of jumps with Soul Throw, and seeing you play as Guy made me think of Combofiend KOing flashmetroid at Evo. This was cool, then again, I like the Street Fighter-games so... Yes.

I voted Meh. I'm far from being a Street Fighter expert, but I don't really see much that makes this look like a TAS other than the complete domination of the AI, and even that could probably be pulled off by an expert player on the actual hardware.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/sep/03/roundup-umvc3-guide-brady-listed-error1-sfa-combos/ I've first heard about this video through Eventhubs where the commentated version of the TAS run was posted to Machinima.com. The commentary was interesting but we don't use CD recorders :P but DVD recorders/Capture cards. I will agree that the time it takes to make an AVI movie of a 2D game from Emulation like this one is way faster than console hookups. Now the run itself: Rose looks like a very verseatile character with one of the 'this isn't V-ism custom combo' super. And the block damage bug was a bit overlooked as a viewer, I didn't notice that until I've read the information from the submission page. Guy is apparently a top tier character in this game and wow those stun combos makes him pretty overpowered. Some of the combos feels like an ABC setup before a launch attack in a MvC game. The pushbox goofs were silly but in a funny way like 3:19ish where Guy uses his Super and ends up behind Rose before the actual startup. The damage 'reaction stun' lasts a bit longer than usual & you'll see combos that would very likely never happen on future releases of a pure Street Fighter game, see the first attack vs Adon round 2 and Guy's signature combo + follow up against Rose. + Shows that the game needs to tweak the hitbox really badly or increase recovery frames. + Wonky pushboxes, like M.Bison's Scissor Kicks whiff thanks to Guy's St.HK + A bit more variety than the old SNES runs of Super Street Fighter 2 + Shows 2 of the most creative characters in my opinion, that didn't appear in SF2. - Only shows 2 characters being played. This isn't Mortal Kombat - Lacks the killer visual/game breaking glitches. Again this isn't Mortal Kombat - No Dan, but more importantly is this Joke Character really TASable when played? It's a hard one to vote, as a Non-hacked, pure Street Fighter game this is one of the better entries but slightly behind SFA2G's Dynamic battle thanks to those crazy duo Super combo setups and the silly KO animation on Sagat, on the other hand this game was better in terms of variety of normal combos.

Voted no. I watched the first two fights and aside from a couple of good combos, it wasn't that tight. You actually seemed to get hit early in round 2 without any apparent good reason to do so.

Movie seemed kinda slow paced and there were few combos that were exciting. I can't help but feel the enemy could have been manipulated better. Also you took damage for no apparent reason. I've seen some where you can get combos that aren't normaly possible by taking damage in the middle of them (2x Tiger Kick if you take damage during the first one for example).

This wasn't a bad superplay, but hardly what I'd really call a TAS. Entertaining and all... but nothing I haven't seen from combo videos over the past several years. Nothing really glitchy or such. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

What was the point in taking damage in the first fight? It seemed to serve no purpose. Also, I'm not sure I'm happy with the player having to lose on purpose if he wants to change the character.

I think it's really funny that CPU Ryu is programed to do an instant overhead that most characters can duck under. I manipulated him into doing it and got hit by it to show how easy it is to punish on hit. I totally respect that it doesn't make a lot of sense if you're not familiar with instant overheads but I find it really funny.

Interesting. The TASy parts are subtle, and take a keen eye to catch. I was wondering why so much damage was being taken on block! Something else I'm wondering, though: why triangle jump at the end of the last few fights? Seems to lose you some speed in the thing. Presuming there's some sort of rationale behind that, I'm torn on voting. It uses a lot of stuff that's useful only with a TAS, and shows some interesting technical considerations and a couple fun setups. But most people, especially here, aren't very well versed in fighting game mechanics and as such don't have much appreciation for what's going on. In short, I'ma put in my Yes here, even though this doesn't feel like the right place for this, because I can't think of a place that would actually be better.

I agree with AngerFist. I didn't see any entertainment in this movie at all. I think TASing some Marvel/Capcom fighting games (X-Men: Children Of The Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Figher, Marvel vs. Capcom) would have a better change at publication.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. I liked it. Yes vote. I was turned off a bit by the first two fights (I got why you decided to get hit to show Ryu's underpowerdness come into play actually doing something plus it looked funny to taunt BUT get hit for it) but it picks up after the fact.

It seems like it could have been more entertaining if there were crazy glitches and impossible combos like the movies we have published here. But it was pretty entertaining without them so I'm voting Meh.

It seems like the kind of TAS that shows off very deep quirks in the game's engine, rather than obvious glitchy stuff. I'm not sure what to think - due to my lack of experience I don't enjoy watching it, yet I can appreciate that it has technical depth.

I'd just like to take the time to say that this is probably more of a TAS that is better appreciated and understood by those who follow the fighting game scene, and know the inner workings of SF, and probably just fighting games in general.

This isn't bad, but I didn't like it enough to give it a yes vote, so I went with a meh.

Not sure why I did not like this fully. I normally quite enjoy a good fighting game. I'll give this a Meh, and looks forward to a more hot version 2 of the run. :)

As this is a fighter TAS, and as speed isn't the primary goal, entertainment and abuse must be the goal. I was not as amused as I would like, and while there was clearly some abuse of the AI, I don't think the engine itself was taken to the mat the way it deserved. I do hope you'll give it another try, but IMO this run is not quite submission-ready.

Honestly you suck at this game. This was one of my childhood mame32 games and I could play better non-tas. You don't even use a max power. Let alone the super ultra combo rose has...namely one level of multiplication and the 2 power other one for super damage (while multiplication lasts). And at Sagat you waste a level 2 power...such a waste..... All you do is plain combos with nothing special. And guy? I hate that char...and why not one char friom beginning to end? Str8 2 gruefood

I actually found this to be pretty entertaining--every fight had a sort of theme, abuse of the engine to do unexpected things--this was a pretty good TAS for this game. One glaring problem, though, was that after you switched to Guy and beat Chun Li, just about every single battle battled with the exact same special finisher combo deal. Not very good for variety. But it was definitely a good start. A TAS even more focused on end-viewer entertainment (like trying to make EVERY unusual thing you do as easy to spot as possible, for those unused to the game) would be better, but the question becomes if this game is a good choice for publishing. It's no Mortal Kombat, for sure. I think there's still a shot, though.

Sorry. You didn't dumb it down enough for the masses to enjoy and derive "entertainment" from. Only Mario runs and games that the popular runners have played are really accepted here. You deserve credit for trying.
