I don't really like the fact that everything is artificially sped up. Everything seems better when it's twice as fast and put to catchy music. Unfortunately it sort of jades the technical quality. It is much harder to tell if it is a good execution or if you're just being faked into thinking it is good. EDIT: I'm dumb, disregard the first sentence; see my next post.

Just as an example, here's a new run of Fox on Adventure. This is the level I'd expect to see for a published movie.
I was just coming to share this and say the same thing. ReneBalow's TAS looks like crap compared to this. This is so awesome it makes people like Kirkq think the video is sped up. (It's not)

Haha, I think that's the highest compliment he could have received. Nothing in that video is faster than it would occur on the actual system.

I was going to say that there was no way that the wireframe battle wasn't sped up, but I didn't remember that there was a gravity change in that level. That was dumb of me.

I'm pretty sure it runs at 30fps instead of 29.95. Anyway. The guy is pretty creative, he gave me a couple ideas for my TAS actually. Also... I am not used to TASing other games. I think they have what they call Memory adress, which shows the X and Y speed of a character. It would be completely useful to have these for SSBM!

The limit for NTSC HRC is 11,347,2ft, translated to 3458,5m. The limit for PAL is 3457,9m. Beside that, good article.

Took care of that, thanks for notifying. How is your Fox Allstar TAS coming along?

Had some personal occupations for the past month and a half. But glad you talk about it, I just finished the 6th battle out of 13 today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiIk4ssMIZg

Hey mugg, have you ever thought of including riddle records in your Super Smash Bros Melee (SSBM) TAS videos and records? Nevertheless I thank you for all your work in compling the ssbm records.

If some more TAS videos appear for that category I can add a new section, likewise with "Btt fastest suicide", "Btt left/right/top/bottom suicide", "HRC no bat allowed", etc. etc.

I have a suggestion. Something to add a bit of variety is to include as many of the Special Bonuses in a single TAS. Would be neat to see some of the fancier stuff like the Bob-omb Squad bonus included, as well as maybe luck based stuff like Celebi Catcher or the various 'get 3 of x item' bonuses. Of course, depending on the mode certain bonuses are not possible, but being as inclusive as you can would be the way to go.

That doesn't sound like it would make a good TAS.....

Now that I've voted Yes on that All-Star mode TAS, I'd love to see/make (but especially see, since I suck and I'm too lazy at TASing) one on the Adventure mode. It would have tricks for fighting and tricks for dealing with the stages' obstacles. Once of them would be this crazy glitch by MUGG. Link to video Another one would be luck manipulation on the Zelda stage, so the Triforce appears right behind the player. I guess Captain Falcon would be the best choice for such a TAS, since he's probably the fastest character in the game. What do you think?

I'm pretty sure the same thing is impossible in Adventure Mode because of physics differences between Event!Race and Adventure!Race. In Adventure Mode, the cars only hit you once at a time, so you can't get massive speed boosts of them. Seeing Captain Falcon in Adventure Mode could be interesting though. Relies more on combo's than Fox and less on only two moves (shine and drill kick) to deal damage to opponents. And I've already seen Fox so many times it isn't funny anymore.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

There is 3 completions of adventure mode, using tools. One from 2006 using AR was done by many people. Brasterd073 did one as well this year using AR as well, and Renebalow TASed it. All of them used Fox. I would like to do a TAS completion of Adventure mode, aiming for fastest time. But the fastest time includes going fox, again. Captain falcon may be fast, but he's slower than fox for the battles.

The problem with Fox is that people who aren't big into the SSBM community get tired of watching him very quickly. He may be the optimal character, but he's not fun to watch unless you have a strong technical understanding of the game and can appreciate all the subtle things the TASer is doing.

I would love to watch such a TAS.

I've actually thought of this as well. I feel like it would be a fun watch, but as it's been mentioned, many of the subtleties might be lost on a more casual player. Of course, this could be remedied with a descriptive write-up for a submission. Also, how about an All Trophies run! =X

Worst idea ever. Not only would it force the TASer to lose his sanity by going through modes over and over, stocking up on coins and manipulating luck, it would also be impossible to acquire ALL trophies anyway, and the result wouldn't look interesting in the least. I don't agree with the idea of using Kirby to acquire enemy powers either. I agree, however, that some lesser-used characters should get more attention. For example Ness (double jumps, yoyo glitching)! Mario also looks cool when TASed.

Well I have to agree with this post. Kirby's move copy ability only copies the neutral B move of another character, and really, there's nothing possibly impressive with this idea. Getting trophies is just a long process that would also include resetting the gamecube, because one of them is caught by exchanging memory cards. Because we have many desynch problems only to run through 3 mins of the game, let alone getting 290 trophies + a reset.

Crazy idea: maybe you could use a script, which applies random character modificator codes to the game so you have some of everything, much like a switcheroo code or character changing in mk tases
How should I know what I think before I read what I post?

I didn't mean to make a serious debate about it. I didn't mean to imply that everyone would like it, it just seems like something I would watch in segments over the course of a while.
