Turning on the tap for warm water but it's freezing cold and takes ages before it actually gets warm. Cold toilet seat is cold. No ice-cream left in the freezer. I'm shivering cold so I turn on the heater, but after a while it becomes boiling hot so I turn it off. Then it becomes too cold again... Late night munchies and I live within walking distance of a McDonald's but I can't be bothered going. Loudness between different videos and sound files is inconsistent. Have to constantly change volume level. Internet speed is slow. tasvideos.org going offline. Sigh, I have it so tough.

90% of all the women dress like hookers. (No, I don't wanna know every detail of their shape before I even talk to them) Beauty and style magazines. (I don't want to be told who I have to look like in order for women to want me ... I also don't want them women told that they shall only go for people looking like some Hollywood star) Artificial sweeteners and other diet-versions of products. (Ok, the artificial sweeteners lets diabetics eat stuff they normally can't, but they are named in a way that makes every dimwit on the planet think they are the magic solution to their extra 5 pounds) McDonalds. (I don't know what these fellas serve, but it ain't food!) Solving problems from the wrong end. (Just like making hacks to hide problems when you write programs, solving problems from the wrong end doesn't really solve the problem, you just hide it) Putting products on the market too quickly. (I know it's awesome to be the first one to release a brand new device, but PLEASE test it thoroughly first)

I have to clean my room and do not want to do it. My parents are acting like responsible parents so they are idiots. I am so upset about the drama I created, why does this stuff happen to me? School is to hard because I don't want to study and whore my way through life. My parents took away my phone so I have no contact to the outside world, despite owning a computer with a web cam, basic writing skills, and a land line telephone.

My ebay sale sold for less than I was hoping.
Sage advice from a friend of Jim: So put your tinfoil hat back in the closet, open your eyes to the truth, and realize that the government is in fact causing austismal cancer with it's 9/11 fluoride vaccinations of your water supply.

Wow, do you really have to wait 6 months to see a dentist in Finland? And what's a TV license inspector?

Summer reading for school. Limited time to play video games and TAS due to overprotective parents. What do you mean it's not normal? I'm only 13!

No, you're right. It's quite natural as problems of the first world. My parents won't let me go out drinking and partying with my friends!! Can you believe the nerve?!

I think, to elaborate more, the first world problem is this: i am not going to spend my summer reading a book when I can do other fun things. God forbid you takind an hour out of your sedentary lifestyle. My parents brought me a Chevy Camero 2011. I want a 2012, I don't care if its not out yet, ugh, they Never listen to me.

Indeed. I don't care if my growth is stunted, or my body is fatally damaged in some way. I just don't damn care! :P funnyhair: You nailed it right on the head. Now, it would be okay if the books were marginally good. The books are too damn easy. (Oh the fun of being at the top of the school)[/quote]

first-world problems, tasvideos edition:
  • I've lost a frame on level 3, but can't find where exactly.
  • Someone voted 'no' on this awesome submission and we don't know who or why.
  • The RNG isn't giving me the numbers I like.
  • The site rules need to be changed to resolve a slightly ambiguous wording of a minor point, but the admins aren't taking my complaints seriously enough.
  • This stupid cutscene isn't skippable.
  • I want to watch this submission, but there's no encode yet.
  • Nobody has done a TAS of my favourite childhood game yet, and I can't be bothered to do one myself.
  • The judge's verdict on this submission is wrong!
  • We've been discussing about religion for seven pages now, and they still haven't accepted my views as the obviously correct ones.
  • There's like 5 hours of new speedruns on the net, but I don't have time to watch them today.
  • My hard drive failed and I lost all my save games.
  • Someone spotted an improvement in level 2 but I'm already at level 8.
  • I should be in bed right now, but instead I'm posting in some offtopic forum.

They check if you own an illegal TV set. In most European countries, you have to have a TV permit to legally own a TV set, which costs a certain amount each year. A TV license inspector has a list of addresses of people who do not have a TV permit, and searches through their houses to discover illegal TVs. They also carry equipment that can detect radiation emitted by TVs, so that they can pinpoint TVs that are hidden from view.

I had a $20 reward coupon for Best Buy. I couldn't use it for a $19.99 purchase since you have to use the entire value of the coupon for the register to accept it. Had to waste an extra $1.30 on a bag of Skittles.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

What's the reasoning behind requiring TV permits? Do you need a permit to listen to the radio and access the Internet, too? With just that information, it sounds like a massive set-up for widespread censorship.

The only good I can see coming of it is maybe forcing some kids (probably from poor families?) to get exercise instead of sitting in front of the TV all day.

So after I came out of shock from reading the most ridiculous thing ever, I asked my French coworker behind me for the details on this TV permit. No, they don’t need one for toasters, DVD players, radios, etc. Just the TV. He also told me how he got around that, since the tax does not increase based on how many you own. When he went to the store he gave the name and address of his mother, who already had 4 TV’s. Since her taxes did not increase, no harm done. He also went to England to purchase video games because they are half the price of France’s. L. Spiro

"My hot water run out in the shower"? In a first-world country? Seriously? Maybe I'm just living in a "first-first-world country", as that doesn't seem to make any sense to me. (If someone doesn't know what I'm talking about, see this, which is something that all modern cities should employ, especially nowadays with the climate change and all. Also, you never run out of hot water.) On the other hand:

AFAIK nowadays it can be even up to a year! I think that in the 70's and 80's you could get to a dentist in a week or two. Then an economic crisis hit Finland really hard in the 90's. Now we (and the rest of the world) are struggling with a second economic crisis. Although I'm not exactly sure this is the cause, but for some reason the demand/supply ratio on dentistry (and many other specialized medical services) has gone through the roof, and if you reserve an appointment to a dentist today, you are lucky if you get there in 6 months. The situation is completely ridiculous and everybody is complaining about it, but for some reason the government seems to be unable to come up with a solution to the problem. At least it's still free. Let's see if they change that (which wouldn't surprise me).

Though Finland has a tax-supported public health care, often the queues to treatment are many months long, sometimes longer than a year. Private dentists and doctors usually grant appointments if not within the same day, within a few days at most, but they do also cost significantly more, to the degree that is not affordable for most pensioners or for the unemployed. Re: TV fee, see prior discussion.

The Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) offers several TV channels that are completely devoid of advertisements. Instead, they are funded with the money collected from the TV permits. They have a legal role in Finland, possibly originating from the times when they were the channels for official information such as war-time alarms. Anyone who possesses a device that is capable of receiving their transmissions, regardless of whether you actually watch them, must pay the fee. Anyone who is not a TV fee payer will receive periodically mailing from the Communications Office containing the TV fee form and a warning that it's a punishable offense to not pay it, if you have a TV. TV inspectors also visit houses that do not pay the TV fee, and ask if they can inspect the house for a TV. One is not legally obliged to let them in, but failure to cooperate with them has sometimes resulted in the person being ordered to pay the fee anyway, even if they really do not have a TV. Winning the battle in such cases has proven to be very tough, because they do demand that you prove a negative, even though such conduct is illegal. As the fee has become more and more expensive lately, more and more people are getting rid of their TV so they also don't need to pay the fee. This has spawned a lobbyist motion that the TV fee should be made mandatory, like a tax, on everyone, regardless of whether they have a TV or not. It would be somewhat cheaper than the current fee (which gains it some support from people who already pay it), while still quite expensive (obviously, present non-subscribers vehemently object to it). They also want to extend it to cover Internet connection ownership (because of Internet TV, so that if you possess Internet connection, you must also pay the TV fee), cellphones and whatnot. Radio is free, even the radio channels of YLE (which have no advertisements).
