So does ISM's discovery mean that the any% can be improved?

For your problem regarding text in AVI recording, all you need to do is check Config -> Video -> Text in Image.
Measure once. Cut twice.

And he asked me to help to spread his video, so here comes two links, one from youtube and one from microstorage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll4gJ7Z_S3Q http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/164862878/SMW%20-%20KaizoMarvel%20-%20speed%20run%202.smv

we know its not very optimized, and take like much time. But it was done by him in 25 minutes of game play, and since he have to handle the College/Work/Wife and kids, he don't have the time to spend like he use to many years ago, but please, enjoy it anyway :D.

Mr. wrote a great explanation a couple of pages back as to what actually occurs when the glitch happens.

hey everyone, just curious, how do you fly in the ceiling? i am at mister's break in the navigator in spw3 world 3, but i cant fly in the ceiling... i can get a bit into it, but then i either 1) fall through, 2) catch air and fly above it, or 3) stay in it with a really small air catch but get blocked by a tile, so i lose a lot of time... can some one please explain how im supposed to do this?

So, I believe someone posted about using 2 p-switches to boost through a ceiling, although I cannot find the post for the life of me. If someone could repose it or something it would be very appreciated.

Maybe this helps:

I tested the jump-through-ceiling glitch in various situations. 1. P-switch and key: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1843727047/smw-keyswitch01.smv This is similar to the case of two keys. 2. P-switch and key: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/425037270/smw-keyswitch02.smv First kick up a key, then a p-switch. In this case we need modification because we can't land on a p-switch before we kick it up. 3. two P-switches: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1434026584/smw-2switches.smv ("sample 3" in correct) Similar to the above case. The height of the ceiling of each sample is 5 squares. I couldn't jump through a ceiling of height 4 squares though I didn't make many trials. I have no idea so far whether I can get it or not. If it's possible, it needs careful subpixel control, I guess.

The win that is item swap: Link to video This is a 46 frame improvement on the first level in the any% bahamete had suggested this strategy to me about 4 or 5 months ago, and about a week later i thought of the great way to eat the berries so we could have 49 speed the whole time. we have had this done forever, and had wanted to keep it a secret, though we havent really been able to even get to the duplication because ism and mister are that good. we always lost 4 frames to them before the duplication. anyways, we are posting this here for a couple reasons. one is to show the awesomeness that is item swap. another is for ism's 100%. and another reason is for the people of the smw tas community to maybe help so we may be able to destroy the previous record, by not only this break but maybe even more breaks!

Oh god oh god oh god oh god. This it totally awesome! I'd like to know how ISM (and Mister, perhaps) would improve their any% run and the 100% run with that.
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

- Read all the already known and detailed glitches here: Wiki: GameResources/SNES/SuperMarioWorld - Read the corresponding thread here (86 pages): http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1571 Feel free to ask your questions at that thread. I don't want to be cruel with you, but I think you should know that there are already a few excellent tasers who tries to come up with amazing glitches, like the last one: swapping objects to the "ending bar". I think it's strongly advised to read all the pages in that thread (at least the last 10-20). Good luck and have fun.

I don't know much about Super Mario World glitches, but some of them may require frame by frame accuracy. You may have to count frames until you have that frame that you hit it. It can be very tedious... who knew TASing would take time.

Hmm guyz I'm not sure if there is another SMW threads but since this is the main one I have to ask here... Does using 2 player maybe help save time? I mean not for any% tas... but for a 100% ? using 2 players to share routes and stages ?
My main objective here is to TAS the most obscure games titles!

This has been talked about before... I believe player transitions would take too long, and then there is getting a cape for Luigi, etc.

I believe it's been determined that it takes far too long in between each character switches for it to save time, even if the route would be quicker. There isn't much backtracking in the current map route iirc though. So no, it doesn't unfortunately.

I've read the last comments you wrote on the SMW thread and all of them has been replied with informative and helpful informations, you also thanked them. I don't know why did you wrote this, anyway it's a general "rule" (or atleast a behaviour) that everyone helps others. Don't think that you won't get help just because you are new to the TAS scene or anything. Not to mention that the "The Newbie Corner" threads are also frequently replied with constructive tips.
