What do you mean?

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
Coins usually take about half space of the block, just like hiding coins. They can make Mario go through the wall deeper until they are gotten. No one has ever done the trick in 4-2 that way using the JU version, including myself.
And I have been making HL_SMBwarpless_V4 for a long time. I'm a little busy with my study recently, but I'll try to finish it next year.
Also, you can get the WIP2 of my SMBwarpless run in my personal page.[/url]

If the level end is triggered by music - Would it be possible to use this glitch to get the music to start playing earlier?

possibly? I'm not sure really. When I did this glitch I essentially paused and reset the game at the same time... or one right after the other, not sure which order. I'm not sure if it could work on the emulator, it might be something with the NES, but likely not considering all the things I've seen work on emu now.
It's probably worth testing. I tried to duplicate it on emulator and I couldn't get it to work. No idea how it happened. Just a series of pausing at the title screen, and a reset while in the underground area.

I can get similar, but not identical, behavior by writing 0 to 0x776 while paused. This resumes play, but no music until paused again.

I can't watch Youtube, someone please explain it to me, thanks.
There's a coin (coins can be helpful go through walls), and this trick only works in PAL mode I think.
Oh, it seems I was totally wrong about that. This does work according to my further testing. Sorry about that.

I merged your discovery with the main SMB topic. The general policy here is to post tricks and other interesting/useful/amusing kinds of info on the game in the main thread, and only using separate threads when it's absolutely warranted.
That being said, that's a pretty fun trick.

When I saw this speedrun, my jaw sustained a severe dropping-related injury. I'd send you my medical bill, but I live in Canada.
Good job. What I find really amazing is that this time could, theoretically, have been achieved on a standard NES in 1985. But it's so difficult that no-one's done it until now. Congratulations, Mr. 299-seconds.

I can't believe it. I did the flagpole glitch real-time on console (this is NO joke). I ran with a star to the finish. Sorry, I have no video, but i try it again.
Did you hold forward the entire time or did you try and mimic the TAS somehow? Was it on the original version (not all stars)?
Or is it the E (European) version?
