There are no differences between PAL and NTSC besides the speed difference that only has to do with the frames per second. I'm 100% sure all of this is possible on NTSC.
The elevating is done by activating a glitch. By landing in the rail and immediately leaving the track you get a in mode of gameplay that's in between driving normally and floating. When you float at a crooked angle like I did you can gain height rapidly. The only difficulty is in gently steering to avoid sliding in the air. To get in a crooked angle you can steer gently, do side attacks and/or tap the A button.
EDIT:
I improved it again.

Ok, for what it's worth here's a wip that completes all 3 laps using the normal strat:
http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/349441153/Lord%20Tom%20FZeroX.m64
This bests MuuMu's WR by 0.68s, but is slower than WMJ's version using the floating strat. (I wanted to finish a full 3-lap wip before changing up strats, just cuz)
WMJ: I note on the Mr Fix-It site there is a new record from March 20th for MC1 with times for PAL and NTSC...I'm guessing the site just does an algorithmic conversion and that you didn't actually run the NTSC time? If you did run it, do you have a video? Thx! :)
Edit: Just watched the improved PAL WR...sweet! Will get working on a wip using the floating strat asap
That's a great run Lord Tom, and it'll be even better with the floating strat :D
As the question for the conversion, it just divides (or multiplies) by 1.2 rounded down.
The TAS you made of the regular strat is truly amazing. I had never expected this much improvement to be possible on that record. On the MFO world records page the purple color indicates the system the time was set on. For all world records in the game that is PAL except for Silence 2.
I have done the strat on NTSC for fun but I didn't beat my PAL time. I expect quite some imrpovement to be possible when the strat gets optimized. Possibly sub 1'05 NTSC. My best PAL splits were something like 33"6 - 24"1 - 20"8.

Glad you like the wip. :D
Unless ppl object, I think I'll do something unorthodox and include both strats for MC1 in the eventual submission...it's time trial, so there's no in-game reason not to, and I agree there's a certain thrill to seeing the traditional strat optimized - it really pushes the vehicle to the limit of what it can do on the ground.
The New White Land 2 Tool Assisted Speedrun.
My best TAS yet. This beats the old TAS by a lot

Here the first sub 10 NTSC lap.Close to 9 PAL xD

As you know I make TAS of F-Zero X. I will start with no savestate and no unlocked drivers and no unlocked master skill. I aim to unlock all drivers in the fastest time - it means expert skill all cups until the credits.
First I have a problem with the graphics plugin. I have three different plugins:
The first one is: Glide64 v.0.8 Wonder it don't work, mupen have to been closed.
The second one is: glN64 v0.4.1 it don't work on movie recording, but it works on playing without movie recording, but with some small graphics errors, the textures of the cars aren't rendered.
And the last one is: Direct64 v0.5.03.25 it works both playing without movie recording and on movie recording, but boost fields and energy fields aren't rendered.
Have someone an idea to avoid this graphics error?
And I need some knowlegde of glitches. Good explainations, please. If it's possible.
By the way I will use the (U) version.
I use Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 and as you can see the result is quite good.
To your TAS i think this maybe really hard, because you have to play a lot of tracks and you really have to max them out if you want to make a fast TAS.
The glitches besides the Air Ground Glitches are really rare in this game,if you don't mean stuff like DTD,TDD ans so on.
Thanks for your tips
I found Jabo's Direct3d plugin earlier and I say it's working well
I don't make a perfect run. I have to few time to make it, because of the fucking boarding school.
I found a good site of some glitches.
Knowing the game very well, this would be a NO for me if you where going to submit something like this.
There are to many things you could improve in the run that it even looks like just a pro playing rather than an actual TAS run. I really recommend you to check MFO's site and ask for help if you don't know how to perform a strat, or at the very least, just look at the video section for some ideas...
I know that you didn't wanted to use cheats to unlock everything (or maybe you just didn't knew there was one!?), but if you're going to use slider settings rather than jumper settings, take advantage of it (BTW, Red Gazelle is a good car for jumper settings).
Since you're playing the Grand Prix, kill some cars in order to replenish your energy (and also, just for the heck of it, because is more entertaining that way). Also, try looking if getting hit when you kill a car can give you some impulse, of course you'll have to keep an eye on your energy too.
Don't be discouraged by this post, I really want to see the day when this game sees the light on this page, just want it to be like it really should be done, that's all.

Well, that is the kind of effort that should be spent to make optimized TASes of games with complex physics like this.

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
