Currently as I speak RIGHT NOW, adelikat is TASing live on USTREAM: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/adelikattas Im hoping this will catch on as we can teach more people how to TAS properly and get more users involved on this site. :)

Too bad I missed this, because idea does sound awesome. I'd really like to see more of this in the future.

I would watch this, especially if the streamer was using fancy tools and whatnot.

Not completely related, but this got me thinking about something. Many years ago, when I was working at the University here, there was a Go tournament held at the school. There happened to be a webcam from which you could see most of the tables (the original purpose of the webcam was and is to see the length of the queue of people to the school restaurant). Since the images produced by the webcam were accessible online, I got the idea that I would make a small script which would store an image from the webcam each 10 seconds or so during the tournament, and afterwards I would make a 25 fps video from them, resulting in a video which shows the entire tournament day in 10 minutes or such. I was wondering: If someone were TASing and had a small script which took a snapshot of the emulator window each 10 seconds or whatever timespan (only during the TASing process, of course) and then a 25 fps (or such) video was made from these snapshots, how it would look like. The video could show the entire TASing process from beginning to end in just a few minutes, very highly sped up. (Not that it would be helpful to anybody in any way, but could perhaps be interesting.)

It's a pity that nowadays with a little ingenuity, computer trickery, or both, one can fake such feats extremely realistically, so it's really hard to tell if they really did throw the ball like 50 times until they got it in, and then used that shot, or if they used fakery. It would be nice to know for sure.

Even the most complex of throws could be done within a few hundred attempts. Not that I remotely think it's fake, but it would be easy to prove if it is. Thats if you're willing to download the video and examine it frame by frame on VDUB. There are other forensic methods used to determine the validicity of photos and videos but I'm not quite fully aware of them.

Yeah, and this is how they did it. You can tell by how there's a cut in between the scenes. Those are the "save states".

If you are talking about downloading directly from YT, the legimacy would still be a question because YT cuts frames every second. I don't know if any flash video program can run at 60 fps with no chops or stuttering.

Someone please post tutorial videos instead of talking about real-life movies whose rerecord counts would rival an actual TAS. Edit: I meant that this is a good thread and I would hate to see it turn into a "post cool videos on youtube" kind of thing.

Tutorial videos (especially good and useful ones) are hard and laborious to do, and require a lot of work. Don't expect people to be rushing to make them...

I think the reply tries to say: "I'm sick of all these comments about real life video stuff. This topic is about live tasing, and I came here to find such videos. So please, stop posting non-related stuff here and post some videos, when they are ready, if there are any."

ManyCam should do the work of Live TASing Streamming, i have used this to stream speedruns, but it should work alike. Basically, you can just select an area in your monitor that you desire to be streammed, also you should make sure that the device on the stream page says ManyCam or something like that.

Given that full-on tutorials are in fact extremely time consuming to make, I love the streaming idea, and I think that recording any such sessions is even more important. Did anyone bother to capture adelikat's original stream? Even if there's minimal commentary, just watching an experienced TASer work would be extremely instructive/inspiring for a noob such as myself.

On a semi-related subject, perhaps a tutorial video for video encoding could be made? Yes, it somewhat humorously redundant, but it's easier to explain a visual process via a video than a text based guide... that, and the two guides could easily compliment each other.

Maybe we should create a "TASvideos" channel on Ustream for any TASers who want to TAS live, instead of separate channels for many users. This way, we could fill up time more effectively, and have live TASing most of the time, from variousdifferent authors.

I agree with andymac's suggestion, having a central channel would indeed be most useful use of resources. Can I also suggest recording these sessions for the purpose of uploading to YouTube and/or Dailymotion?
