I think both of us missed the point; I just watched the movie where both the Black Knight and the Knights Who Say "Ni" appeared, and the former was not one of the latter...so instead I should have asked whether the one in the Sonic game also says it's "just a flesh wound": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eMkth8FWno and here are the Knights Who Say "Ni": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTQfGd3G6dg

I fart in your general direction! Now to post something relevant: Yay for dolphin and the very knowledgeable people working on it. Words cannot express how much I want to see a Twilight Princess TAS. 3:56 on SDA is AMAZING, Jiano is inhuman. But just imagine the possibilities with frame-perfect precision...*drools on keyboard*

Evening folks. I think it's time to list/update ya with the biggest commits. I took the liberty and looked through 2000 (!) latest commits and gathered the most important ones. Once you check each link commit, I think it's pretty obvious and self explanatory. Please note that to each of these listed commits, there have been further minor optimizations made to them. Other than that, the future of dolphin looks very bright. I check for updates everyday and I can tell you that a lot of talented and serious coders join their team such as dok.slade, mylek, marcosvitali, skid_au, Billiard and more. More fixed memory leaks, speedups, more playable and stable games are being emulated correctly, better texturing and perhaps most importantly of all, marcosvitali has big plans for the sensitive area of the fifo. Dolphin now supports cheat search, DX11, you can now enter hyrule field in Twilight Princess without suffering from a big slowdown, honestly, there are too many things to list. Click on the links and enjoy! http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=6000 http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=5994 http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=5930 http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=5898 http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=5846 http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=6058 http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=6057

Now that the desync issue seems to be fixed, how close are we to seeing publushed TASs being developed for GCN games here?

I can finally play gamecube games quite smoothly... However, something needs to be done about the plugins and then on the emulation as it doesn't seem to emulate exactly the way gamecube does. About the plugins, there have been several issues on the opengl renderer thing. For me it was the graphics plugin that helped out when I switched it to Direct3D9. But if this plugin is using DirectX9 isn't it possible to update it to DirectX11? I'm sure that would make things way smoother already. I'm playing Mario Party 4, the game plays fine, only some games lag a bit. For example the FPS fall to around 20 at the worst. I doubt the ISO can be in any way faulty, so I'll blame that on the emulator or at least the emulation plugins. I'm hoping people are still working on all this stuff. I mean, it's been quite some time since dolphin came out and it was great for then, and it's been out for some time now and people still haven't been able to fix the emulation process? I do understand however there have been many improvements

Your FPS falls because your computer is too slow or the emulator has trouble with that part in the game. Dolphin still has a long way to go so you can't expect it to run perfectly yet. Check here for the most recent updates: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/list My assumption is that you are still using version 2.0? Check here for svn downloads: http://www.dolphin-emulator.com/download.html?list=1

When trying to open 6285, I get this error: Dolphin.exe - System Error The program can't start because XINPUT1_3.dll is missing from your computer. Try installing the program to fix this problem. You were right though, I was using an older version from emulator zone 4771. I tried restarting and re-installing but the problem still exists... If I don't delete all of the 6285 and install the 4771 one but instead replace the files of 6285 with 4771 and leave the rest of 6285, I get the following error(s): "Emu Thread already running. Report this bug." And after I click ok another error pops up: "Couldn't init the core. Check your configuration." And btw these are my specs for my new laptop: 2.53 Ghz 4GB Ram Intel(R) HD graphics (I heard openGL plugin doesn't like this graphics card. Btw, how do I check what version of openGL I'm running? I searched the world but got so confused. All I want to see is whether it's version 2 or 2.1 or 3 or something like that) Windows 7 64 bit Around 500 GB Hard drive DirectX11 Uhmm, dunno what else to include here. It's not all that great but it certainly does it's job for now

I heard Dolphin doesn't like Intel. Switching files from one revision to another like that probably isn't very clever... What do you mean by installing? You just need to run Dolphin.exe. About your dll error, try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en

Thank you. That helped. I can even run the openGL plugin now. However, Direct3D9 still works best for me. OpenGL and Direct3D11 are pretty much the same and both worse than Direct3D9. I don't know why that is. At least according to my logic Direct3D11 should've worked better than 9. Also, the new updated emulator seems to work better/smoother; there's hardly any noticeable lag. But with 4771 I was able to tab through most of the animation and speed things up. I would reach up to 90 FPS. With this one I can't tab through which sucks...

You might be able to speed the game past up past 50/60 FPS if you change settings in config -> General tab -> Frame limit Team Dolphin is in the middle of exchanging the plugins with newer ones. You might want to visit their IRC channel to ask questions (Efnet, #dolphin-emu).

So I tried Dolphin and noticed the lack of load times, is this because of the emulation or that I'm reading the .iso straight from the harddrive? Of course no one likes load times, but it would give a skewed perspective of the game I guess.

I believe they are working on emulating the reading capabilities of the GC and Wii drives at the moment. Try the latest rev. from their SVN and see if that works better.

I was using the latest rev., I guess they're still working on implementing it then. Time will tell.

<@Billiard> hey skid_au, for dsphle, wouldn't it be possible to be deterministic with the interupts like with nullsound, but still send the sound data to dsound/openal? <@skid_au> billiard, yeh, i am getting pretty bad audio stuttering with deterministic timing in the dsp though.. i posted the patch yesterday for you to test/fix.. let me see if i can find the link again <@skid_au> Billiard, here's the patch: http://pastie.org/private/gjnsa9qyoi1t3e7pvgpeuw <AngerFist> skid, how does this affect the tas? <AngerFist> i presume in a good way?` <@skid_au> it affects it in a very very good way <AngerFist> sweet ;) <AngerFist> keep pushing that front man <@skid_au> i gotta make one other commit for the gc controls, and i believe after that tas should work fine with gc games.. but no promises yet <AngerFist> may i post what you wrote to the tas community? <@skid_au> the fifo might be a problem.. but if it is, that can be solved after the video plugin merge <@skid_au> yeh, but please stress it is early days yet <AngerFist> okidoki So this is great news everyone!

Are there any future plans for an input plugin similar to the Mupen 64 TASInput plugin?

I believe a few commits ago the plug-in model for controllers was skipped and the controller was fully integrated into dolphin.

When attempting to save a state in the newest Mac build of Dolphin, the emulator crashes. Every single time. :/

Oh, you're so funny! That joke never gets old! I'm sure Mac users appreciate being told how inferior they are every time their operating system gets brought up. Surely one of these days they'll get the message. (In related news, you have the right to make stupid jokes, and I have the right to tell you you're an idiot)
