There are some more glitches present in the GBA ports, but they really did do a piss poor job with the graphics and the sound. The reason I didn't do it is because it would look far too similar to the already published DKC2 102%. You might be able to get away with doing DKC on GBA since of all 3 DKC's it is the port that is the most different, but I wouldn't if I were you.

I played through the GBA version (101%), and found it okay... Of course, it wouldn't be worthwhile for anyone to do an any% run, but the 101% is (for me) worth investigating, as it is that bit closer to what I had in mind for the SNES DKC. I found out that there is a "1 Player Hero" mode that becomes open after (I think) 90% completion, but it's also probably not worthwhile, as it's the same as "1 Player", except you only use Diddy, there are no checkpoint or DK barrels, and no scrapbook pictures. And for what it's worth, I agree that the game looks pretty poor and has crap sound, considering that it was a re-imagined version and could have been much more, despite the original being such a classic. But it would be good to see if the game could be blown into smithereens by exploiting TAS style glitches. I have not forgotten my promise by the way. I will finish the first world very soon!

Well, here's the first half of Kongo Jungle. I was set back in Reptile Rumble (I should have viewed Arne's run first) and thereafter lost interest in TASing. But I've got past it, and I should be able to TAS the rest of Kongo Jungle by (you guessed it) the end of February (or else University starts, and I won't find much TASing time). http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1211809534/JC_DKC_TAS_JH_RR_%26_RR.smv Enjoy!

Well, it's finally here! (Hooray!) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/278718103/JC_DKC_TAS_KJ.smv As I often say, I appreciate comments about my work, especially now that it's finished. And keep in mind that I take the good with the bad, so don't hold back if you can tell me how to save a hundred frames. ^_^ Thanks to everyone who contributed to this topic for me, as I wouldn't have persisted without the encouragement (it took me long enough with it!) And best of luck to Tompa, Arne, CyruS, Comicalflop... and anyone currently TASing.

It really isn't that bad with your goals of the TAS. But a lot of the slow downs you do in order to get, for example, the KONG letters, hurt my eyes sometimes :D. But yeah, you have to slow down some to get them so... You have the skill to make a bit more serious TAS, which you can submit to the site later. So why not give it a shot?

Just because I can... Time to bump this topic. 2 years, 43 minutes and 36 seconds ago, Arne the great and I began to improve the current 101% run. The project has taken very long because of several redos and such. The run should have been done a long time ago really... I decided to just put up a teaser for you, the first world. I have reached the middle of the third world currently, but I don't want to show too many spoilers. SMV YouTube Arne is sadly not with me on this project anymore, but I wouldn't have been able to do this without his assistance in previous version. Thanks for being awesome!

Wow! Good job so far! Looks very optimized, and I loved the tunnel clipping. Hope to see more someday.

Nice run! I'd watch that for another hour (or less). It's been awhile since I watched the original.

Looking good! I guess Very Gnawty's invincibility doesn't give out until he's halfway through the jump? That's kinda weird.

Thanks for the feedback. This is the only project I'm working on right now, everything is on hold until this is done. So I am working a lot on it, but it takes some time to do :).

I guess I'll upload world 2 as well... YouTube SMV I'll also say that I'm dropping this run now. The reason is because I really need a cam hack/cheat to proceed, see the topic at the SNES9X section for more info. But yeah, I won't care about this run until my problem has been solved.

World 3 I'll just upload the whole smv as well, including most of the following world as well. Here you go. Croctopus Chase will probably be redone using the basically-impossible-to-optimize-glitch. So there will be either an optimized version without it, seen in the movie, or a slighty unoptimized version with it. It will still be faster, but not neccesarly look too good. Oh well.

Wait, how did you enter Ropey Rampage and exit via Orang-Utan Gang?

I never entered Ropey Rampage and it is explained in the comments if you check Youtube. The same glitch is used in both the published DKC runs.

Looked nice. Always cool to see progress here. I'd like to offer something more in the way of a suggestion or an opinion but when it comes to DKC you are waaaay ahead of the game Mr Tompa.

Yes it seems, but that "go-ahead-of-the-camera" thing needs to be in the movie, even if it's not perfect yet.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

Today it was three years since the run was started. This will be celebrated with a new WIP! YouTube SMV

Awesome as usual. Are you (or anyone else) working on the any%? I'm sure with all that you've discovered you could gain some good improvement.

I will work on it once this run is done, as the 101% run is the oldest of the two. But yes, the any% could also be improved heavily, which will be done.

Very nice man. Looking forward to the rest. So no one was able to implement the camara for croctopus chase, eh? That's a shame because that level is sooooo boring (even playing it is terrible). Would've been great to see it glitched out.
