Foul Play is done. On later thought, it might've been a better idea to do Silo Scramble rather than Show Stopper... Well, we'll see how it turns out. EDIT: Remind me to do things right the first time through... The old video with Show Stopper is here, in case it's needed later on.

3 missions on one WIP, and Two-Week Test must be the most elaborate strategy I've ever conceived for this run (not really). Factory Blues is up next, but I don't really have any ideas on how to approach it quickly...

ROFL, the Two Weeks mission was hilarious.

OK, so it appears it's fairly easy to do Factory Blues in 10 days by shooting the pipe from the left with an artillery. Going for the airports, the earliest day you can get a shot at the pipe with a bomber is day 10, so I don't think that is a good choice. So... if anyone can do this in 9 days or less, please tell. I'm going to try a little bit more, but I fear for my sanity if I keep on playing this mission any longer!

Time for Great Sea Battle... A time I was personally dreading, as this mission is just too long (as a result, hard to do "perfectly")!

Saw the thing, it was realy cool and also good planning, though isn't there a way to prevent Hawk from activating his CO Power on the Green Earth Factory Battle?

What triggers Hawke's COP is attacking the Neotank on Andy's base, so I guess that the only way to avoid it from triggering would be to run away with the neo on some turn before day 16. I'll see how faster it turns out to be...

Oh and also i forgot to mention, what about moving Andy's Neotank out of the city? I'm not sure it will hurt your planning, but if it doesn't the screen doesn't move to Andy's Base each one of his turns.

Here is the video that avoids Black Wave. I hex edited Hot Pursuit in, but unfortunately I had to redo Final Front. As I said, to avoid Hawke's COP charging I had to move the neotank away, so I guess that addresses both problems... http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/359783624/advwars2.vbm

In case this ends up being submitted and someone wants to encode, the input lasts for a little over 68 minutes and the whole movie including credits will last about 75:04

I was wondering if I would be faster with the knowledge I have after completing the whole run, especially compared to the first few missions. Result for the first three missions is 159 frames faster: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1419189401/advwars2.vbm I still don't like the chopper movement at the end of Orange Dawn, it looks like it can be cut off. I just don't see how... Guess I'll just leave this here so I can come back after 3 more years, or something like that. Times: Cleanup 3554 (-76) Border Skirmish 3212 (-44) Orange Dawn 3678 (-39)

There's a way to move cursor faster since It's the same in AW1 as I tested.

Does anybody have any interest in doing a Hard Mode run of this?

I think this run badly needs an improvement if I ever get to finish AWDS, I might try it myself, a problem is that I've never done anything related to GBA emulation though, so I might be bad at it, not to mention that cursor movement optimization thing makes no sense to me

I think fetofs is still working on this run.
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/893817469/advwars2.vbm I've made an improved version of fetofs optimization (53 frames and 129 over the published run [cleanup only]) I hope this can be useful. EDIT: I think that a sub hour run can be perfectly possible

Someone should crack the AI thing, as quite a few new tactics require strange and rare AI behaviors.

tried playing fetofs's first 3 maps improvement but it desynched istantly, I'm using VBA 23.2 svn284 or something… help? about the AI thing, if it's the same as AWDS we at least kinda know when it attacks your units with bad match ups, movements though I have no idea about and knowing would be good

Have you tried 23.4?

The AI may sometimes move its units next to yours but refrain from firing. AFAIK, this rare behavior is at least the key to the fastest Toy Box strategy.
