Improvement of hero of the day's previous run by 67 frames.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: FCEU 0.98.28
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Manipulates luck
Not much need to be said. All improvements come through ladder-zip maneuvers. Level 1 and 2 are both 11 frames faster due to the frame rule and level 3 is 45 frames faster. The difference between this and the canceled run is that I (in the hurry) didn't think of "using" the ladders below Mario.
I thank hero of the day, the previous DK-TASers and all you nice people at the community!
Enjoy

Wow man, awesome new trick. Makes the movie a lot more entertaining too. A bit of zipping in donkey kong, to go along with game breaking scrolling glitches. Who would have thought such a simple game could have such things?! Easy yes vote.

Can't add much to say but awesome trick, the sort that seems obvious after the fact :) Good job as usual Mr. Aglar

That was a very nice way to start my afternoon off. I never thought we would see another improvement to this game! I suppose I should never expect anything in this community to be perfect!
i see...

oh man, that was awesome. Never thought I would see the day when my run would get pwned. It is amazing how simple that trick is too, and yet it has been overlooked this whole time. Great job Aglar! I think the last hurdle in the game is finding a way to walk past donkey kong on the 3rd level... I think I had a dream about that being possible.

It looks funnier to me when Mario does the little zip over a ladder that's below. I'm not sure why. Yes vote for improving an already amazing run.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I don't think these improvements will ever end! You can just imagine how long this game (or any other game for that matter) can go for getting THE fastest time possible. Oh, sorry, I rambled on. Anyways, yes vote.

I recently tried to improve this run, without any success. You obviously did a much better job, no run is perfect! Easy yes.

HA! That was pretty nice. Didn't expect this at all. A cool little find right there. An unnecessary yes vote from me.

It did? Nuts. I better add a warning to the video... I have not listen to it with sound yet.

There's a one frame window where both the following condition exists: 1) Mario is still on the previous section of floor, which is slightly lower 2) Mario can grab the ladder. Because Mario is lower than the ground under the ladder, the ground fails to stop Mario, and then he just climbs down until he reaches the ground.
