I know it's a bad game that looks awful with poor music, but I still think it might make a good run when optimized, based on parts of the game mechanics. - Mickey does not recoil or slow down at all when taking damage, so the only reason not to take it is you'll eventually run out of life. - There are two attacks, jumping on enemies (press down) and casting spells. Spells will freeze you when you use them, though, so they aren't recommended unless you can use the freezing to your advantage. - Mickey moves slow, but jumps faster than he moves - Howeer, every time you jump on the ground you stop before jumping. - Jumping on enemy heads (and items as well) doesn't stop you. - Therefore, the fastest way of moving is chain jumping off objects found in levels (and there are a lot of objects in any given level. I think the fact that the game encourages chain jumping will make it very interesting for a TAS despite being a game based off collecting points. Any opinions? edit: maTO has a run of this that makes me think if it were planned out a little more, it would be good

I'd like to see a demo TAS of the first level so I can make a more informed judgement.

These two videos seem pertinent. Seems like a terrible game to run, but the author doesn't seem to bother too much with optimization and such.

My god. This game DOES have horrible music. But it might make a good TAS though.

This was one of the few games I didn't like when I was a kid. I remember it as a very hard game. Don't know if this would make a good TAS, but it is in the risk zone.

I'm doing an improvement which will, according to my calculations, complete the game in under 10 minutes. 65 seconds faster than my horrible test run :) I'll post a WIP in two weeks when I get back home from cat daycaring.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1078292583/Fantasia-wip1.gmv The rom is rev00 if you manage to get a desynch with a different version. I didn't research the differences between 00 and 01 revisions. Point multiplication is the trick that makes it possible to beat the game in under 10 minutes. It saves 21 seconds in the first level. It saves a few seconds in third level because it allows the use of a faster route. When you bounce from an enemy to item you can get 2-6 times the points and if the item is moving (star) even 7 times (31,500) the normal points. The healing effect of a star is also multiplied.

I cant acces that Microstorage link, but if its the same as this then i'd suggest you submit it. There are some others on the IRC channel that say the same thing.
