Looks good so far, Sir VG. I've only watched your WIP1, but you were already ~300 frames faster than my old crappy attempt (we didn't even have frame advance back then, Richter movements were really difficult to perform in slow motion...). Your WIP2 link is broken, I think this is the correct one: SOTN w/ Richter, WIP2. I'll watch it later and see if I can comment something. By the way, I think pirate_sephiroth is working on a Richter's run too, but I've only seen a movie where he enters "Richter", so maybe I'm wrong. :P
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Oops, fixed the link in my post. Changed too many 1s to 2s. :P I've got WIP3 complete, just need to upload. I'm through Hippograph (damn 1000 Blades is a LOOOONG attack) and at the door to the next CD room. I did make a minor change in WIP2 which you'll see in WIP3. I changed my jumping scheme in the long corridor just to the right of the magic door leading to the Royal Chapel. Saved a few frames there. Also changed the hallway where the magic door is in, saving a few more frames. Edit: WIP 3 uploaded. SOTN w/ Richter, WIP3 --- I'm at just under 3.5 minutes and have arrived at the Inverted Castle. Now to get through Medusa, the Inverted Royal Chapel, Inverted Arena, get to the Inverted Clock Room, then fight Shaft. I've got Holy Water, and 30+ hearts, so I should be just fine. :) For a first run through, it's looking good. I'm sure there's a few frames here and there that can be shaved, of course. But I'm proud of this first effort. :) SOTN w/ Richter, WIP4

hmm... I guess I should tell you I'm working on a Richter run... I guess I'll post a WIP later (sort of a teaser only... it's a short run. no need for WIPs)

Whether or not you choose to release any WIPs, that's your decision. I would like to see some, if nothing else, to see how well I'm doing. I choose to release them right now because I'm still a young TASer (especially to games with more then 4 buttons and a d-pad :P ), so I'd like to get advice. WIP5, at the door before the CD loading room leading to the Inverse Royal Chapel. SOTN w/ Richter, WIP5 (Movie and Memcards in 1 7z.)

Also, I'm not in a hurry to submit it. I'd like to save the first PSX submission place for zggzdydp's Alucard run. Yeah, I consider posting it here the same as submitting it... Here's the short WIP.

The only way I can make Sir VG's movie go out of sync is using "Eternal SPU plugin 1.50" and its default settings, so make sure you're not using it. If that doesn't help, post your complete settings here or on the PCSX thread and I'll take a look.

The movie will always play properly with null and PEOPS sound plugins. Eternal will occasionally play the movie properly, but will usually desync in the area where I blade dash over the large rock.

Richter's game may look simple, but it's actually very complicated to optimize.

No kidding. Especially with glitches like that air jump (after Blade Dash), and the occasional lag frame thrown in here and there. I know your attempt is faster then me, but I'll do some real comparisons later. Right now I'm just getting started and used to things. WIP6, at the door before the CD loading room leading to the Inverse Arena. SOTN w/ Richter, WIP6 (Movie and Memcards in 1 7z.) WIP7, at the door before the CD loading room leading to the Clock Room. SOTN w/ Richter, WIP7 (Movie and Memcards in 1 7z.) Just about done with v1. I don't think I'm doing too bad for a n00b. :P --- w00t! v1 done. I stopped the video after the castle crashing scene is skipped and Richter stares out in his ending. Now it's just a matter of going back through, figuring out how to improve, and doing so. It's been a fun couple of days working on this. SOTN w/ Richter, v1 FINAL (Movie and Memcards in 1 7z.) Final Hit on Shaft: 23286 (6:28) Final Input: 24061 (6:41) Comments and constructive criticism is welcome.

here are the plugins I am using: I didn't change anything in the plugins config. menus, I left everything on default settings EDIT - I also tried with "null's sound driver 1.35" and it desynchs at the room with the mermans..

Here's what I used: Graphics: PEOPS 1.18 Sound: Works with PEOPS 1.9 and null Controller: N-Rage 0.95 (both) CDROM: PEOPS 1.4 BIOS: SCPH-1001 Also make sure you load the right memcards in the right locations, as that causes desyncs too.

I was finally able to playback the movie correctly using sir VG's setup. Thanks for the help :) I just watched the "V1 final" movie. Very cool run. I have a question - the knife item crash keeps going on after you killed the Griffon boss. isn't there a way you can cancel it by pressing down or jumping (or some other way) and be able to leave the room earlier ?

Yeah, it looks like it's possible to jump to cancel it.

I don't think they added the ability to cancel the knife item crash until Harmony of Dissonance, though I could be wrong.

I thought it seemed shorter in the speedrun and was wondering how to cancel it. Though I wonder if Hydrostorming would be faster for that boss too. There is a Holy Water right before the magic door.

Sorry for going kind of off topic here, but what happens to the text if you hit L+R or U+D on the loading screens? I'm just curious, and can't find the rom anywhere to see myself.

Well, I dunno... but I guess it won't warp me to the last boss. Will try later...

Naw, I wasn't expecting it to be beneficial in any way, I was simply curious.

Yeah, and as I was expecting, nothing happens... back to our normally scheduled show.

I did some calculating, and it appears that I'm about 205 frames behind you when the door closes at the Alchemy Lab. Which means I'm about 3.4 seconds behind you at that point. Yeah, I've got work to do. ^^;;

Test TAS just got posted by Youtube user arukado2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeI843jXNOk Not sure of the exact clear time, but it certainly looked impressive to me.

One thing that may be in improvement would be to go into the CD loading room before going to the elevator (9:27) for Soul of Wolf. But then again, I guess it doesn't matter if he has to wait at the clock room. I'm also not sure about the version of the Richter Skip glitch that he does. Wouldn't the way Satoryu does it be faster? Also, wouldn't going up be faster in the Inverse Arena, even with the Infinite Wing Smash glitch? And last, the run needs a clear file to skip cutscenes. ^^;;

no cause the method i used requires the two additional Wolf Relics. Wolf Squeeze is by far the fastest option.

Well, that's my test run. I'm improving it currently.
I'm also not sure about the version of the Richter Skip glitch that he does.
The trick is not easy to do in real time, especially do it with only 1 wolf relic.

You mean flying straight? 3 fake guys in that way you must kill them.
