http://files.filefront.com/Deku+Palace+Teleport+muxedmp4/;9470199;/fileinfo.html Taped it this morning. Really weird and it seems to teleport you to different spots if you step in one of the invisible lights (assuming there are more).

Gentlemen and ladies! Would it be worth anyone's time to make a full all-masks speedrun of this awesome game? I'd like to see that, if it's worth making. (I would've made a new topic, but this one was already here, so...)

I would certainly like to see a 100% run, although I wouldn't personally do it. The amount of planning required would be beyond any route I can presently think of, mainly because of all the events that require very specific arrival times (remember back to a few months ago when I realised I wouldn't make the ranch in time and the resulting redo, that was just one and a 100% would have many more). The brave individual who would take it on would have to be prepared for years of hard work and a lot of redoing. Having said that, if anyone wants to try it please do. I would certainly help out with the route and give support and advice every step of the way. As for myself, I'll stick to my beloved any%.
Mukki states it well. A 100% run would require someone who has way too much dedication.

And some crazy good route planning.

Unless you are willing to pay me a minimum of $15,000 (or equivalant) to TAS a 100% run of MM, then the chances of me doing it is practically zilch. EDIT: And yes, a while ago I did figure out roughly how many hours would be needed and translated it roughly into how many months I'd need. Effectively it would be a full time job.

A 100% run would be awesome. It would be really hard to make though. But if anyone takes on the challenge, I'll watch it for sure when it's done.

As long as we're talking about other runs, would a least game time run be accepted alongside the real time run? Incidentally, for some reason I'm suddenly thinking of Super Metroid..

How would that be possible? The clock stops when you pause to change active weapons and when you speak or go through doors like super metroid but... you have to be at the last door before dawn of the 4th day. The only way you'd get there exactly when the coundown starts, 6 game-hours prior, is through "better" use of inverse song of time. That would be silly.

Rather than wait for the door to open, you can probably do a bomb staircase up and over the door/stairs blocking the route up to the top of the clock tower. So, in actual fact, you don't have to wait until night of the final day at all.

CF: Yes you can. You can hover all the way to the top of the tower from a thatched stall (or the small wooden tower) and drop into the loading zone, but it uses a lot of explosives. I also remember hearing that it's possible to goron bomb jump over the door into the loading zone, however it requires great precision. I haven't tried it yet though...

Clock tower early takes 4 chus max. http://youtube.com/watch?v=dV_GOBnl8dA Anyways, since I've located the game timer's memory address, or at least enough of it to get an accurate reading of what time it is, we can know exactly what time it is when we enter the tower. BTW, the address is 00ADB0FE (or rather, mupen64-rerecording.exe+6DB0FE. It's right before the start menu stuff). I haven't quite worked out how the whole thing is stored, as I haven't found where it stores the day yet. Also, it's a bit unclear what kind of integer it's being stored as. It's clearly linked to 00ADB0FF, so it's at least a short integer, but I'm not sure whether it's linked to others as a long integer or what. But I know enough about it to get an accurate time reading, and that's what matters. So, the main route differences would be... *More rupees available and trips to the bomb shop cost comparatively less time. This will allow for much more bombchu hovering. *Stone Tower will be done either first or right after Woodfall, depending on whether we split Woodfall. This is because we'll want the Light Arrows for Goht, and once we have the 3 masks, arrows, and hookshot, we have everything we need for Stone Tower. *Lullaby Skip will not be used. It saves real time because of all the cutscenes and area trasitions it skips, but none of those count against game time. *Only two bottles are collected. This is because the ranch bottle comes too late and the Beaver Race bottle takes so long that it's better to make the extra Fortress and Pinnacle rock trips. *No Gilded Sword. The reasons for this should be obvious, but it will make Twinmold slower. *No time cost for mask switching means it will be done a lot. Mostly for Goron Rolling. *And most obviously, no using the Song of Time means no Goron Mask first. This also means that we'll have the Hookshot and Zora Mask before Woodfall. So, do you guys think this could work as a separate TAS?

Nahhhhh. I think overall it might look different, but we're probably talking a way longer overall real time length. That kind of dedication should probably be spent towards a 100%.

I strongly disagree with the prospect of an 100% run.

This. Especially for a game that doesn't even show a final time in the way Metroid does.

A 3(6)-ingame day run is a cool idea that is used at SDA, but unfortunately its pretty arbitrary for the rules of this site. While its cool to see everything done with only the mandatory rewind of time, its probably too suboptimal for here.

I think a ingame time run is pointless. Focus on the fastest movie time. I'm not saying it won't be entertaining, but it's a waste of time that could be used on a 100% run.

*sigh* Well, looks like least game time run is not going to happen.. In that case, we should probably get started on something else. So, looks like it's time to update the 100% route, unless someone wants to work on the any% or possibly low%. With all the new tricks, I'm not sure if we should use Dragorn's route as a starting point or just start from scratch. BTW, I can't remember what we decided on for the 100% definition. I'd think it would be collect all items that don't disappear when using the SoT, which is... 20 Hearts Great Fairy gifts All masks All start menu items EXCEPT title deeds and Kafei/Anju trading items All area maps All Dungeon maps and compasses All capacity upgrades Gilded Sword and Mirror Shield I think that's everything. It's a fairly intuitive (and non-arbitrary) definition of 100% and will entail doing just about everything in the game. The Maps and Compasses won't be an issue, as we'll be going past every one of them when getting the stray fairies. Also, the Blast Mask, Bottle of Chateau, and Postman's Hat must each be gotten on a different cycle. Thus we can with a fair amount of certainty use a 4-cycle strategy, unless it turns out that getting the Goron Mask early saves enough time to warrant a 5th.

Completed Bomber's Notebook? Also, are you going to be the one doing this or just are we just throwing out ideas for the future runner, whoever that may be?

Area maps, compasses and dungeon maps are not included.
