I agree, looking very good. Also, I think you are doing the right thing by killing some big scorpions because it certainly takes time to jump over them so keep going.

Anaconda: I am using the (!) rom. But it's sometimes called 31438 instead. It's the same rom. I did wait once in the end to avoid shooting the rock. But that means I will be hit of it later. And I couldn't take anymore hits than I have. That would be if I collected more hearts during the lvl... But I can't be arsed to make the lvl once more... Thanks for the comments, and time for lvl 2.

Looking good ^_^ I scouted ahead and found out you'll get the Plasma gun right before Jawenko or whatever his name is. You'll have the Seeker all throughout the outside of the Sandcrawler, and the Rapid Ion all throughout the inside. I'm going to like seeing what you do with the Rapid Ion gun ^_^ Also, I don't know if you know about this, or if it'll be of any help, but inside the Sandcrawler, if you jump into a spike pit or quicksand and land right next to a platform/other wall, as long as you keep moving toward the wall, you won't get hurt/killed. Maybe I'll do Empire Strikes Back after my hiatus ^_^

I think you can manipulate the Jawas to drop weapon upgrades? EDIT: Well, good news and terrible news. First the good news: You can manipulate Jawas to drop what you want! Joy! Bad news: You aren't ever going to do this. Infact, I suggest you actually stop making this run until snes9x 1.5 is ready, or whatever version of zsnes. No it's not because of the sound (though I now have a headache after making this for you), but because the emulator will desync. The first time I manipulated the Jawas I got three Vader Masks. Played it back, and I got a time extend and two nothings. Ok... Manipulated again (keeping the clock) and got a lightsaber and a thermal detonator. Played it back and got nothing. Tried again, don't remember what I got, but it turned out as nothing on playback. Decided to just try to manipulate one drop instead of two. And after about 15 tried I got a shield. Good luck getting a gun at that rate. On a side note: The speeder level isn't going to be fun. As shown you can manipulate Jawas to appear instead of random terrain items. The speed at which you approach the sandcrawler is based on how many Jawas you kill, not on how far you drive. YOU CAN MANIPULATE IT MUCH BETTER THAN I DID. I JUST DID AS A PROOF OF CONCEPT. Also, I can see people's motion sickness setting in... Edit2: Ahahah I just downloaded it from microstorage and watched that, and the second Jawa didn't drop the shield that time. Oh boy, good luck trying to get a detonator before each boss.

I know you can manipulate the Jawas to get what you want, old news ;). And yes, it's going to be annoying with all the desyncs all the time. I'll just play through the same thing a million of times until it's good =). So far no luck with lvl two. First I need it to make it fast, then avoid desyncs, hmm... Oh well.. BoltR: Isn't 9X 1.5 already out? Thanks for the comments so far=).

Apparently SNES9X 1.5 hasn't been made compatable with Windows as of yet.

With the weapons thing, you're not really going to be facing anything tough until you get the Plasma Gun from intentional drops/pickups. The Sandcrawler miniboss can easily be taken out with the Rapid Ion Gun. The only thing manipulating a weapon drop would do, really, is save a couple frames since most normal enemies are/should be avoided anyway. I think.

Your progress looks good so far, Tompa. Wasn't it possible to manipulate something to drop a thermal detonator right before the Sarlacc? Anyway good luck with the second level (landspeeder part), I can imagine it being tedious to TAS. I've always liked star wars games, and these 3 are the best ever made, IMO. The only one I could never beat on Jedi mode was the second one, Super Empire Strikes Back, it was ridiculously hard. I've made a test run of the first two levels of ESB (on Jedi mode), if anyone is interested. Hopefully, it wont desynch. (Link) I found it fairly easy to manipulate things in this game, since every button you press (even if you only press it for 1 frame) seems to affect everything that can be affected around you. I've even been able to press buttons that doesn't do anything to manipulate item drops (shields in particular). Keep in mind that this is my first "real" attempt at making a TAS, so there will probably be errors. However, if it isn't too bad, then I will proably continue it at some point. : )

Thanks. Phunq has now joined the project and we are trying to that bitch lvl, it's quite tricky... And there's one more of this kind of lvl, I hate it... No, you can't get any detonators on the first lvl, sadly. But I could, however, stood on a better place to shoot the boss. A spot where the rocks hit the gun so they will be destroyed, without me shooting them. But I only got desyncs when I tried it... Presume I can try a little harder though... About your WIP. You can press, or hold, start in the beginning so the JVC box will disappear faster. Another thing you can do is to hold b, down and right before you start the lvl. This will make Luke be ready to fall down through the rock before you start the lvl. But I'm not really sure that it is faster... Nice taking the shield in the beginning to walk through some things. I think you could slide a little more at some places. Like on the second lvl, where you kill a bird and the "pig" thing. You can make the first pig to not appear at all, but you won't get a shield by then though... You could also have slided under both the first pigs on both the lvls. But I've mainly got desyncs everytime I did that. And you take some damage so you won't probably survive later on=P.

I'll need to fix those things for sure.

Yeah, but only if I can manipulate the enemies to not appear. Should very well be possible.

I might be able to manipulate the enemies ahead so that I wont need the shield anyway. I'll see what I can do.

Heh, I forgot to mention that my intention was to make a no damage run. I've been able to slide under other pigs without taking damage though, so it might be possible. Thanks for the suggestions. : )

I remade the intro and the first level. (Link) I pressed start to make the JVC logo go away faster, saved me 69 frames. I was also able to save 3 frames in the first level. Is this good enough? Or are there any errors left in the first level?

Looks good enough to me, nice job =). I'm going to help you as much as I can with the later lvls. I don't know that many tricks though, but I might find more tricks later on. EDIT: By the way... NO DAMAGE RUN?! Omg... I hardly think that it is possible on some of the lvls, lol. You can save a lot of time in lvls by be damaged of the enemies. That's one of the reasons why I didn't choose Jedi in my run. That and the long, boring boss fights. Some takes a very long time to do even in easy mode (The boss on the second jungle lvl for example, what a bitch.). But good luck with that... I honestly doubt you will make it, but you'll maybe prove me wrong=P.

Great. :) Now I need to figure out which blaster upgrades I should get... I know for sure that I need at least seeker missiles to deal with the droid bosses later on. Rapid ion or plasma would probably be even better though. I know that I can get the blaster I got in my first wip without losing more than a second or two, so that one is probably a good choice. Then I'm sure that there are at least 2 more blasters in similar places. Hopefully I wont have to go up with those winds in the caves, since I will lose a lot of time then. Edit: And yeah, I think a no damage run would be very impressive (on Jedi), even in a TAS. I will do my best to actually go through with it. ; )

Well... I guess I can post the first lvl of Return of the Jedi ;D. The first lvl can be improved a bit. But in case someone (Tragedy perhaps) wanted to take the challenge.. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4430/Super%20Star%20Wars%20-%20Return%20of%20the%20Jedi%20%28U%29%20%28V1.0%29%20%5B%21%5D.smv And no, I'm not working with this anymore... Hardly anyway, I start playing the game sometimes but I don't do anything interesting.

If you only knew the power of dark side making these games desynch like a bastard....Tompa informed me though that this problem may soon be remedied with a new version of SNES9x that is in its beta stage currently. If that is the case I'm hoping that he will team up with me to revive the project again. Of course I have to respect the fact that he has other projects he is working on at the moment.

I was the first one to give all these at least one serious attempt each. But they were terrible with both SNES9X 1.43 and 1.51. With the new version of SNES9X it will be possible to run these games without any major errors, at least not what I've found so far. But some of the sound effects are out of order. Maybe only the coin sound effect, not sure... That sound is wrong in all three games, which seems a bit suspicious if you ask me. Anyway, when the beta version is done I'm going to start running Return of th Jedi and maybe helping Phunqy out with Empire Strikes Back. BoltR has promised that he will do the first one in the serie as soon as the sound effect errors have been fixed.

I tried to do Return of the Jedi (using ZSNES) but the first level was always autogenned differently on playbacks, resulting in (obviously) desyncs. Is this also an issue with SNES9X?
