you found pretty darn good paths (it's not super hard as long as you keep your momentum up, but that can be a punk so thumbs up, sir!) and you found exactly the right way to do the warps, most of the rest of the work really would be spent on optimization and adding some entertainment especially with the bird

ooops... ;) Was abit boored today. So I started another run. Its alittle bit faster and I found some improvments here and there. 363 frames faster then my last try and I ended up with 7997 frames in total. Whooohoo.. :) Hows it going for you Twisted Eye? Cheers

I just haven't been able to work on this at all for a couple weeks, no motivation and distracted. Your version 2 included all the improvements I was going to redo my own movie with, awesome work! For purist perfection, though, I noticed a couple improvements to your work: It's faster to open eggs with your arm as short as possible--only 2 frames until the next punch instead of around 12. So just get closer to those two eggs that get opened when you open them and it's all good. Also, you can shoot another rock out of the ...rock shooter before the first one hits the guy, might be a timesaver there. Also, after the boss dies, run at the wall instead of stand by it, that way you get the horizontal momentum to save a few frames. Great path on 7-1, you were able to keep the faster momentum the whole time. 7-2 if there's a way around the two slower parts that'd be great but it's not all that likely. 7-3 was it fastest to use the pole? It's more entertaining to viewers probably haha. But yeah, loved the work. I hadn't quite finished 7-3 before I lost momentum because of a stupid girl haha

I realize it isn't really any help in a TAS, but I reread this thread after watching Frenom's submission, and just for the sake of completeness decided to tear apart worlds 3 and 4 looking for that missing warp zone 1a. :p As it turns out, I didn't even have to bother with world 4 at all, as I found the warp zone in 3-3: Yeah...it's another of those warps behind a hippo-breakable wall. :p It's about 3/5 of the way through the level, right at the middle vertically. The place in my screenshot should be somewhat easy to find on this map. This, then, gives every world except 5 and 7 at least one warp zone. (Maybe because the backgrounds of worlds 5 and 7 are the same black color as the warp holes? *shrug*)

Let the demo play until the Hippo gets killed by the Bunbun Bee and press any button to return to the start screen. Start the game. This will cause the second Pockly Guy to drop the transformation wand after you kill him. This way you can change to the Tiger earlier and save a few seconds! Maybe this glitch will work on other SMS games with demos. With this glitch and by using the warp on the first level to 7-1 you can finish the game without damage or collisions in 3 minutes flat with some practice. Here's my splits:
