This is for anyone who thinks (or knows) they know Zelda. Where did it start? (I name a keystone in the Zelda series and you tell me which was the first game to have it) What was the first Zelda game to feature... ...a change in clothes from one primary garb to the traditional green tunic? ...a helpful owl? ...a Link/Zelda romantic backstory? ...references to a previous game in the series? ...cutscenes and quasi-cutscenes? ...distinctly say that the hero was named Link? ...dramatic irony? ...dual worlds? ...fishing? ...Ganon/dorf in human form as opposed to pig form? ...manipulation of time? ...more than two Triforces? ...the Master Sword? ...trading quests? ...upgradable sword attacks? ...voice acting? It's not terribly hard, just something I did to pass the time.

But a lot of time to play those games to plant that knowledge to your brain. Ps: Please shorten your signature, it's way too long currently. http://tasvideos.org/ForumRules.html

Are we going to answer here, or PM you? I hope you don't count the annoying CD-I games, are you? I'm not going to answer untill I know the answers of my questions:).

Yes, the CD-i games count, and you should PM me the answers. One more: what was the first Zelda game to have an ocarina? (Not as obvious as one would think...)

You know the first Zelda game, where if you want to get the next sword, you need a certain amount of hearts? The old man says "Master using it and you can have this" Master sword, maybe?

The standings currently are: 1. Boco - 12/17 (Boco's score was changed because of an error in scoring the first time round) 2. RT-55J - 11/17 3. Blublu - 10/17 The competition is getting INTENSE!

I just ignore the CD-i games, as technically they aren't considered "official" Zelda-series games anyway. Sorting by timeline would make no sense, since there isn't any official one anyway. I answered, though, and since this seems to rely heavily on those stupid CD-i games, I expect a low score (though I did provide a (hopefully) accurate alternate answer)

These questions are too ambiguous.

Aren't those by popular agreement considered non-canon and more or less sacrilege? No serious zelda fan would even consider those as part of the zelda franchize.

I don't recall there being a poll. Then again, I missed the Zelda worship service a few weeks back, so maybe that's why.

Nope, not a one. And if they do, they're obviously not as serious about their Zelda fanhood as the serious Zelda fans you're talking about.

Seriously, does anyone know the chronological order of the series? I have no idea of how and when Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Majorask Mask, A Link To The Past etc occurred.

I love how Tompa posted that without indicating that there's many theories about what the timeline could be and that Nintendo hasn't released an official timeline.

Here's my logic: The Legend Of Zelda 1: The Hyrule Fantasy was the first game, so it introduced everything, obviously. Or at least, I'm pretty sure it did. Maybe I should replay it just to make surely sure.
theenglishman wrote:
...a change in clothes from one primary garb to the traditional green tunic?
Silly billy, it's always been a green tunic, you just can't see that much detail in the old games.
theenglishman wrote:
...a helpful owl?
Hey remember? The owl turned into an old man, who started hiding out in caves, so that helpful owl's been there all along.
theenglishman wrote:
...a Link/Zelda romantic backstory?
Um, they quest for each other, so they love each other, don't they? Gee, maybe all the romance was in the manual that I don't have anymore.
theenglishman wrote:
...references to a previous game in the series?
Zelda 1's story refers to Zelda, Link, Prince Darkness Gannon, and Triforce With, who were all characters in the previous game Zelda 0: This Time, It's Not Zelda -1.
theenglishman wrote:
...cutscenes and quasi-cutscenes?
They were pretty quasi, but they were cutscenes all right! Like remember that scene where Link stood around for 10 seconds holding the triangle? Or when that waterfall got dark? Totally, man.
theenglishman wrote:
...distinctly say that the hero was named Link?
Go find the Triforce Link to save her Link! Link Link Link Mister Link Link Link!
theenglishman wrote:
...dramatic irony?
Isn't it ironic, don't you think, that Zelda scattered the 8 Triforces when she could have just swallowed them to make it easier
theenglishman wrote:
...dual worlds?
First Quest and Second Quest!
theenglishman wrote:
...fishing?
You fish for a fairy and the fairy gives you hearts! Also you fish for a dungeon and a heart piece on your raft and ladder, you can fish for anything with anything
theenglishman wrote:
...Ganon/dorf in human form as opposed to pig form?
That's a tough one. But I bet you don't get to be a Prince Darkness by pigging out all the time!
theenglishman wrote:
...manipulation of time?
Duh! The stopclock!
theenglishman wrote:
...more than two Triforces?
Duh! There are EIGHT Triforces!

Kirbymuncher already covered this one.

I remember you go on a quest to buy somethin' will ya and leave your life or money! I think that counts as trading!

Master using it and you can have this!

...voice acting?
Dude, you know that gulp noise Link makes every time he gets hurt? That's got to be someone's voice recorded. Someone took their time out of their day to record their voice for you, so you'd better be thankful.
