How can these 2 games be region locked if nintendo announced none of their games would be? where did you get that information from? "First-party games for Wii will be region-free, according to NoA's vice president of marketing and corporate affairs, Perrin Kaplan." source

Wii Operations Manual, p. 32 "Check that the Game Disc will work on your version of the Wii. This system will only work with Game Discs made for use in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Latin America." The woman from NOA didn't know what she was talking about. Some other nintendo denied what was said.

That would be the Nintendo that effectively screws over half the world (aka Nintendo of Europe), by delaying games by many months, aswell as charges a considerable amount more for games than its ntsc counterpart/s.

Yea, what's up with the price of the console in places other than US/Canada/Japan/Hong Kong? It's like almost 100 USD more everywhere else which is almost the xbox360 bad version price. Here's another fun fact for nintendo fans. PS3 games are multilingual and region 0 blu-ray. :( They did that intentionally because blu-ray has regions normally (they also needed to to keep production costs down and promote the format). I know HDDVD is not as good but that makes me root for it because it has no regions and sony hasnt touched it.

Right, but does it say that Zelda or Wii sports is region locked? that was a general warning. It might very well say in the zelda box that it works on any wii. Ok, i've read the box. it says my zelda is for use only in america. so, yea, that woman was wrong afterall :P

Might as well post some more stuff. EA is really getting behind the system.. now that they have seen the launch and Madden NFL 07 sales. They bought out a company to develop exclusive Wii games and they themselves will be making a lot. Crossbeam Studios Entertainment is a game company that is exclusively making Wii titles. http://www.crossbeamstudios.com/ They are new but seeing their interaction with the community makes them awesome. They also seem to have some pretty cool games being developed. Especially Darkness (now known as Nightmare to avoid confusion) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkness_%28video_game%29 Another new company Nibris, making games for Wii and DS. http://www.nibris.net/ Here is their HOPEFULLY REALLY SCARY GAME Sadness http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadness_%28video_game%29

if you hate the madden games, get your hands on 07 for the wii. You'll know the exact reason why EA is going crazy over the wii. I'm ashamed to say i played about 25 hours of Madden before even opening TP. Wii Sports is like Mario (sport title) .5 You see all the potential of those games almost instantly. Cannot wait for Super Swing Golf. Absolutly cannot wait for Mario Tennis 3. Cannot wait for a good fps to actualy use the wiimote well.

I'm enjoying trauma center pretty much, the controls are real good. the story is getting kinda dull near the end, but it's ok. Also, played 6 hours of TP.

Wii has sold more than 1.1 million units, at a much higher rate than xbox360 and ps3 (obviously). http://nexgenwars.com/

Sold out (more or less) in the Netherlands before noon. Not bad ;) But that leaves me with the problem of not having a Wii. Should've pre-ordered...

Yay! I got a Wii!!! I started to wait in line at 4:15 (I was #6 in the line), the store opened at 11:00. I don't have my Wii yet, but I have a certificate-thing that I'll just show them when i go pick it up (the delivery isn't there yet and they're not 100% sure when it will arrive). I already paid them the money, so if I don't get a Wii today, i will be very pissed off. Someone might die. So I'm pretty safe. Hopefully I'll also get a copy of Zelda (they didn't have any games yet either).

Just bought the Wii and the new Zelda. One word: Bellissimo! :) Baxter and other Europeans, you guys seriously need to buy this. Its awesome in so many ways. I always thought I would have trouble with the wii-controller once I bought it but no sire. By the way, can I adjust the sensitivity of the Wiimote? Also, even though I have asked this question earlier (Atma and Yoshi348 answered it before to me) is it 100% certain that you cannot use the classic wii controller for all Wii games? Because it makes no sense that you can't do that.

Finally the european release is upon us and: I GOT ONE TODAY (woot). In Germany that is. Got up at 8am, waited 1.5h for the store (Saturn) to open. Was first in line, about 30 people behind me. Too bad the store didn't have more than 12 Wiis for sale (the clerk told me yesterday, he said I'd have to be quick to surely get one). It felt weird sprinting through the store like a geek on speed, but who cares, since I actually am kinda geeky and sportive. Therefore this is the cost of having awesome fun with a kickass console: So be it! Zelda is absolutely stunning by the way and Wii Play is TONS of fun, can't get enough of that Wii pose game! Besides: The console is very sleek and sexy, style seems to be somewhat copied from the whitish iPod/iMac designs.

I'm curretly trying to beat Matt on wii boxing. When you get to level 1500 he shows up. I've fought him a dozen times, but he always beat me. :( I'm pro at golf, almost at tennis and bowling, but i suck at baseball. (pro ranking is anyone over level 1000)

That just made my day, but I do feel for them. I used to have room mate that would get so mad at playing RBI baseball on NES that he'd chuck the controller as hard as he could at the wall, tv, lamp... anything that was in range actually. I hope the new remotes are as sturdy as their old NES counterparts :)

Yay I got one. Had to go through a bit of trouble to get one but I'm now the proud owner of one (out of, it seems, 10.000 in Holland?) Nintendo Wii. And Play, and Zelda. I'm somewhat in the middle about the whole thing to be honest. Don't get me wrong, some of the sports are catchy, half the play games cranked all of us up (especially duckhunt and the cowriding...). Zelda is awesome. But the whole Wii concept... well I don't know. For one, I thought the controllers were bluetooth. But now it seems they're "just" IR (ok, maybe I could've known that by reading the specs beforehand). The range of the whole thing is rather disappointing as well. You cannot recallibrate the aiming of the wiimotes. You can only set the thing below or above the tv. Well what if I beam my wii on a 2 by 2 wall? Then what? Anyways... I noticed there's a SD bay. That's just a feat waiting to be exploited... :) On the plus-side, the controllers do really respond well. The games are implemented good (although why was it that I only catched fish that gave me -50 while a friend was catching up to 1100 points :s). I wonder though, what's stopping sony and microsoft from developing these controllers and design games for them. It's not really a console feature, just the controller "an addon". Also, even though these new games are cool and I'm all for the better interaction while playing a game, sometimes you just want to sit down and play a game. I fear that there will be no mind-numbing games on the wii that allow you to just sit quiet... Anyways, the wii rox, but I'm a little surprised at a few of the implementationdetails.

The pointer is infra red for added precision. But the motion sensing isn't infra red. You can turn off the sensor bar and you'll feel no difference on baseball, tennis, golf boxing or whatever. I play zelda lying on my bed, blankets, almost falling asleep. It requires only subtle movements to activate the actions, which doesn't even happen too often. Wii sports makes you sweat, but it shows how versatile the Wii is. You can sweat or you can sleep. They say that sony has patented a remote controler with sensors for the ps3, i'm not sure what it does. Even if they release such an acessory, the wii is still cheaper, with cheaper games and it has the miis which are really fun.

I was really suprised at how small the Wii remote is. It is much smaller than I thought it would be, but then again I have gigantic hands. I only played Zelda for a little bit (got the lantern), but I have to go sleep now (I've been awake for 37 of the last 40 hours and I feel like zombies must feel like).

i'm an american so i've had my wii longer than EU's, but you got Wii Play at launch. How is it? worth the purchase? Same line as wii sports? Oh and about 25 hours into TP, i've decided its the greatest Zelda ever. OOT has nothing on this. As for standing up, i can play all of wii sports sitting. I prefer to stand for bowling golf and tennis, since i actualy play them IRL. The first time i threw bowling, i lined up the exact same i would IRL, bowled in the same fashion, and the ball did the exact same thing it would irl. My hands used to cramp playing PS2 or the likes for hours on end. No longer. As FODA said, its alot easier to relax and play most games than on any other console. Madden is harder. So is Red Steel. But wiimote only games are definatly fun and easy to play. As for using the GC or Classic controllers, some games still are being designed to use them, such as SuperSmash Bro's Brawl will us those exclusivly. Other games such as SNK's Metal Slug Anthology will have options for both. Depends on the developer. What Games did EU's VC launch with?
