At last, I watched your WIP. I must say, I am very proud of being your future partner :) I definitely can tell that you are a very talented taser. There were a lot of things I liked about your WIP. Sometimes I like minor details, for instance, I smiled when you did that holding your finger up animation after touching the gate. Keep up the good work mate!

Even though there's alot of room for improvement in the currently published run, it's mostly optimizing movement, and even though there's probably a myriad of tricks or in-level routes to improve on, as long as no one takes the time to actually try and do something, the only difference would be a more refined run. A link for reference I had a couple of hours to spare today, so I thought I'd see what I could do with the first couple of levels of the game. I didn't use any memory watch for this, so it's probably quite a bit slower than it should be at certain points. I only compared it to the published run at the point where it stops. It's about a second faster, but as you can see if you watch it, there's really nothing noticeable. Minor edit: Yes, I used Mothrayas' video file, I couldn't be bothered with the intro.

Small update, revisiting Gravity Beetle and Tunnel Rhino for the last few upgrades for 100%: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/604569298/Mega%20Man%20X%203%20%28U%29.smv Now, the Doppler stages are next. Also, I don't intend to do X3 any% unless there's a noticeable improvement somewhere.

Haven't watched your latest WIP, but I did watch the 8-Maverick one, and I was very impressed. One thing I'm curious about, from when you collected the Torso upgrade: how did you use firing a level 1 charge shot to reset the air-dash check? Also, are you going to collect the Gold Chip?

It's the second shot of third level charge, the "purple/pink" one.

It was the second shot of a not fully charged cross charge shot. It functions just like the fully charged cross charge shots, which allow another airdash after being used.

Yes.

No, I don't encode these. I want to hold off with YouTubing them until the very end, so I can encode the entire run at once. Besides, getting a SNES ROM and emulator is significantly easier, faster and less space-consuming than getting a PSX ISO and emulator, and it runs at full speed for most people, unlike DeSMuME.

WIP 6 Doppler stages 1 and 2 are done. However, I think the Vile 2 fight may be improvable. I will look at that later.

If you mean Tunnel Rhino, I had to take damage to manipulate him into doing multiple fake charges in a row. Otherwise he'd ram into the wall and then do a flash charge, which turns him invincible (and lags the game).

After trying out several strategies, I finally finished redoing the Vile fights. I saved 25 frames, by shooting Parasitic Bomb instead of Tornado Fang for the last Vile 1 hit, delaying the first fight but allowing more charge-up time for the second fight. For the second fight, I start with charged Spinning Blade instead of uncharged, so I can finish with one charged Spinning Blade instead of two.

Noted. Just from quick testing, I found I'd probably have saved a number of seconds on Volt Catfish's stage. I wonder why I always only get to hear these things after submission and not while I'm actually making the TAS :/

Do you want to re-do this stage and everything before I publish your run?

No, I don't think hex editing will work. I'm almost sure it would desync in the stages following that.

Player zewing somehow managed to skip the Volt Kurageil boss explosion in 100% (w/ sabre, RMX3 on SFC) - Video: http://www.twitch.tv/zewing/b/338365221?t=135m05s I've been trying to replicate it but I've had no success so far since I don't actually TAS the games, I just run 'em in real time. I'm just assuming that it has to do with the small explosion and/or Kurageil just finishing his tentacle move, but what the heck do I know. Finishing him off when he's way off screen doesn't do anything in particular for me.
