At least in Fantasy Zone for Master System the demos have first few seconds of prerecorded demo (Opa-Opa shoots at flat rate goes forward... nothing much). Then starts the crazy part: Fire rate goes to maximum, Opa-Opa starts to move randomly. The demo ends right before Opa-Opa would be killed. Here's the thing: Can you manipulate Opa-Opa survive trough first level, whole game? Personally I've once seen first stage boss in a demo. So it's possible at least to defeat one boss in a demo.

That'll be the reward for manipulating luck well. :) More seriously, some cheats to make Opa-Opa invincible should reveal what happens pretty quickly.

Nice idea... :) BTW. You can use only d-pad to control luck manipulation. :P I don't know if you could use pause -button too...

Testrun of Fantasy Zone in 3:46 using demo manipulation So, it turns out that by "surviving" long enough during a demo until Opa-Opa destroys the last base, you can get control of him, but sometimes he just comes to a dead stop and you can't move around, for reasons I don't know. So my approach was as follows: get to the demo of round 7 (the last regular level) as fast as possible. You don't have to sit through the demo in its entirety, you can reset once the demo starts and the game will play the next demo after the title screen. But I had to play round 1 a bit, to get $ 3000 to buy upgrades, since I wasn't able to defeat the boss' final snake with default speed/weaponry (but it might be possible). Here's hoping that someone knows what's really happening during the demos, so that it can be manipulated more effectively. The bossrush is most likely also improvable with different money<->weapon management.

Wow. This topic didn't die. :o @Tee-N-Tee: That's a BizHawk demo file I guess? Can you possibly convert that into a movie file of some kind? I'm on Linux and I wouldn't want to go trough installing BizHawk hare. :E

Did you mean an video file? I don't think BizHawk movies can be converted into other emulators' file formats. Here's a video file: Link to video The movie length is 3:46.51 according to BizHawk.

Bumping after little over two years. :o

Exactly. After seeing the video, I highly suspect this could be the fastest way to TAS this game trough. It's "just" a matter of luck manipulating the hell out of the demo on the last stage. :P
