I discovered something (well Deign PMed me about it). Deign discovered Princess Peach moves at the same speed in the (J) ROM and (U) ROM (512 when walking, 768 when crying or using slidebrella). And there is more. Deign aso told me that the (U) ROM has less lag and the movements is more stable. I can't remember everything Deign told me excatly. I deleted the message Deign sent me, thinking he already posted the info, but he didn't so I decided to. Ask Deign fore more information.

Most of what Peachtotheinfinity said is true. The part that isn't (and I was wrong, not him), is that there isn't less lag or anything like that on the (U) version. The lag was emulation error. I've done a room by room comparison on 1-1 doing the exact same things and the differences became apparent. For one, the "You saved a Toad" message is 7 frames shorter in the (J) rom. Which is negligible. The other difference is that it appears to be that on occasion the screen transition is 1 frame faster on the (U) rom. Other than that, everything else appears to be equal. Not enough of a reason to use the (J) rom for 7 frames per toad, which would roughly equal 14 seconds. Over an hour long TAS, 14 seconds is pretty insignificant. On a side note, I don't have WaddleDX's dsm, but comparing side by side as best I could (pressing play at the same time), my WIP is about a second or more faster through 1-1. What would be extremely helpful though, would be if someone could figure out what determines if the star gives 50 coins or if it gives 777. I sat in front of the RAM Search for about an hour and had 0 results. I figure it may be a formula of some kind, but I'm not experienced at all with disassembling.

dsm is here: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/875713004/spptas.dsm This movie can play on DeSmuME 0.9.6 I think the condition that star gives 777 coins depends on Peach's position and timing when she touch the goal.

That's very much appreciated WaddleDX. And this is more optimized than I thought it was. My current 1-1 WIP is actually only 36 frames faster, with a few frames lost to manipulating the bonus 777 coins. Thank you very much for the WIP, it will be a good checkpoint. Will post a WIP maybe every half a world or something...not sure.

I once again bring up the topic of the chain chomp glitch. Here is how you do it. Jump on top of the chain chomp Let Peach take the half-heart of damage. Then let her stand for a fraction of a second (not sure exactly how long would be best, no more than a half a second?) Then she will fly off the screen. Control Peach when off screen. (you are also able to control Peach before she jumps, I think) Caution: Not possible on that many levels. Not sure if it works on the Japanese version

Here's my first installment of the run. Halfway done with world 1. Bought all three umbrella abilities in one go. This is 191 frames faster than Waddles WIP except that I bought the chargebrella so it's only 51 frames faster. But I have a few places in mind where the chargebrella will save quite a few frames. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1622215484/SPP.dsm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v77dsWgW32Q Unfortunately most of the strategy is identical to Waddles with a couple of exceptions because, well, he did a good job. I'm mostly just coming in and optimizing it. I'll be trying to post wips every 3rd level or so. Enjoy Edit: I suppose I posted a bit prematurely. I have had to go back and change the items I bought. Rather than buying the Poundbrella (which I've deemed useless and won't be needed in the run) I've bought my first Vibe Tea. I'm hoping this one upgrade will allow me to hold off on having to go back to the shop for a while, if it can, then it should save 280 frames, if it doesn't then no harm done, woulda bought it anyway. Anyhow, this has set me back on frames simply because it forces an animation, so pre buying I was 100 frames ahead, after buying 187 frames behind. After 1-3 96 frames behind, and I'm currently on the last room of 1-4 and I'm 98 frames ahead of Waddle's WIP (with a vibe tea and a chargebrella, which will save time later had Waddle continued his) (though I'm not sure he has stopped or not).

Ah, it seems that Deign has proven he is the best princess out of all us! Keep up the good work, and nice to see you back.

This game is making it really hard to maintain my fantasy of Peach being a Machiavellian genius instead of a bubblegum-headed ditz. Then again, maybe that's all part of her plan... Looking good, Deign!

Well, all done with world 1. It's 697 frames faster than Waddles WIP. Which I must thank Waddle again for his WIP, it was very informative and taught me a couple minor tricks to save a couple frames here and there. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1438518337/SPP.dsm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxZLlpnYrh0 1-3 was redone thanks to having to rebuy before, I changed from getting the Poundbrella to just getting a vibe tea. The vibe tea cost 287 frames to buy, but will most certainly save frames as the run progresses. It saved about 30 frames on the boss from not having to enter into cry mode an extra time. edit: oops on the first 15 seconds or so in the shop lol, my bad =D

Project not dead, I've just become immensely lethargic and also Starcraft 2 came out. 2-1 is done. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/197390925/SPP.dsm edit: 2-2 and 2-3 done http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/568216244/SPP.dsm

I saw this topic, and thought I would say that in my experience, 777 seems to be nearly guaranteed if you're holding one of the throwable ball things when you reach the goal. (Not that a TAS should take the time to do that, of course.) Also, Poundbrella is only needed in a few of the x-7 - x-9 levels (maybe 1-8 only). (So Chargebrella can open Toad boxes? I never knew that...)

Did some thorough testing and I will for sure not need the poundbrella for the entirety of this TAS. PeachtotheInfinity's chain chomp glitch does seem to be usable on only one level in world 7, and I was able to get peach's speed as high as 1336 (512 normal run speed). It's a pretty sweet lookin glitch I have to admit. Zeldara109, I can't say for certain, but it doesn't seem like carrying the ball has any affect on getting 777 or not. I'm currently done with 2-5 (actually gonna head back to 2-4 to fix up a minor error, maybe gain like 4 frames. But I'm currently dealing with the stylus portion of the boss. It's not giving me problems...I just don't want to do it =P

I can sort of confirm that it also works on the Japanese version, and it might be possible to do on other stages with Chain Chomps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XfgiYJKFpg

Upon interesting discovery, sort of, I found out that once you jump after sliding down a slope, you won't have to lose speed while moving/jumping. It works in quite a similar manner to SMW.

Hi Coldsun, welcome here! Open the page and click the link where it says "Download". Then you need to use the Desmume 0.9.6 (Other versions may work too, I don't know). Open the US 1.0 version of Super Princess Peach and load the movie. That should do the job.

What web browser are you using? Have you tried right-clicking and selecting "Save as" to save the movie file?

If you watch the WIPS, you'll see I use this extensively already.
