This is a 292 frame improvement over Arc's published movie.
Karnov is an awfully programmed game. One of the most appalling features is the inability to both scroll vertically and horizontally at the same time. This feature is quite apparent in this run. Often it is faster to fall straight down than to jump off cliff in order to prevent addition vertical scrolling.
My motivation for doing this run was mainly the nostalgia of having suffered through this game during my childhood. Because of the shoddy programming, I hoped I could find some interesting glitches or at least exploit the game is interesting ways. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do so. In addition, Arc's movie is quite optimized. The scrolling results in essentially a constant state of frame rules. There is also a frame rule on bombs. These negated a lot of the savings I did find. The 292 frames come from various optimizations throughout the run. The most significant was in water level where I avoided damage in the level in order use take damage against the boss instead.

Summary

  • Emulator used: FCEUX2.0.3
  • Aims for Fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time

Truncated: Accepting as an improvement to etc.
ShinyDoofy: Processing...

Look like 2.0.3 is required, 2.0.2 won't load this movie. About the run, the game itself doesn't look fun but viewable because the run is short. Nice job on optimizing tho. Neutral view from me, but it should be published because it's an improvement over previous run.

Oh, these look good.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Minus the one issue with the url*. Yes, I agree. *The url should have "karnov-tas-adelikat" not "AdelikatNESKarnov" (I had a look the url is open)

Archive item URL won't matter too much, it just would need to include the movie time to not overlap with similar items. But since it can't be changed, it's decent already.
