Emulator used: Gens 9H
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Manipulates luck
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Uses no passwords
  • Genre: Platform
You can use any version of Gens, but if you have sound desync at third and last bosses you should use Gens 9H or older.
Okay, this is my second submission for this game (and certainly not second effort on it) and it's more than 18 seconds faster than previous published TAS and almost 9.8 seconds faster than Soulrivers' one. Of course, I used new slide trick, found by Soulrivers, but main improvement came from better tactics in certain places like last Forest level or first Blue Cave level, or all water levels.
I worked on every level, but I can't prevent some unexpected lags in this game. For example, in some cases score screen lasts a couple of frames longer. Or screen doesn't move for 1 frame while Buster is jumping. I tried to avoid lags, but still some of them have place in this movie.
Some comments:
1st boss. As you can see at a frame 8979 Gene Splicer turns right and starts to leave and at a frame 8981 Dizzy's eyes appear, what indicates that he'll stop. I found that if Gene begins to run away later than Dizzy stops, Dizzy will turn into whirlwind one more time, so it seems movie shows the best time for beating first boss. Also Dizzy stops below the level of the ground - this makes his helmet to explode 2 frames earlier.
2nd boss. Buster gets damage from Calamity Coyote to make him leave the screen 2 frames earlier.
3d boss. Gene takes last hit much later, at right, not left, point of his way, so Plucky Duck comes to his place for dialogue 2 frames earlier (thanks to AnS for this trick). It's because Plucky Duck moves slower when boss has been beaten.
And finally some interesting and strange thing that I've found long ago: at last Snow level stand on platform between last moving column and first snowmans and make very high jump (you should use Game Genie AKAA-AA7T for the USA version) - to the left you'll see a frog in the air!

Enjoy!

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. I'm not sure I got the right ROM though. (I tried Tiny Toon Adventures - Buster's Hidden Treasure (U) [!].gen, which was the closest match to what you wrote.) Well, here goes! Feel free to clean up the list.

adelikat: Accepting for publication as an improvement to the published movie.

adelikat: Processing.

Hey, that was quick! I like how you managed to improve the run both with speed and entertainment. Although the dances in the last boss room were little bit incoherent, but whole performance was funny.
You should use Gens 9J or near because newer versions have sound desync at third boss.
I used Gens 9.5b and didn't have a problem enjoying your sound idea. But I guess the message was meant for publishers.

I love this game. I love this game a lot. F*&^ underwater levels. F*&^ the pirate ship. F*&^ the waterfall. F*&^ the robot levels. F*&^ this run for making me look so bad playing this game. Yes vote. censorship intentional, too many fucks.

I'm surprised you improve the run so much. Excellent work.

This game reminds me of Sonic, with its fast-paced action. The funniest thing is when it looks like Buster runs into an enemy but it is the end-of-level thing (sorry, don't know what it is called). Yes vote.

I must say, this was a very quick and well done response to my run. While I think you left out some entertainment value in some of the boss fights and other waiting periods from your previous movie, it was overall good. I'm not sure if you knew this, but each jump (no matter how far or high) is always 1 frame slower than just running. I think I spotted some places where your jumping wasn't optimal, but that was just a few times anyway, so it isn't worth redoing for. Great job, yes vote!

Yes, I know that jump at high speed takes 1 frame. But also I noticed that in some places and in some cases screen doesn't move for 1 frame while Buster is in air (for example, after he maked jumping movie), and this can happen even several times during 1 jump. Especially it's noticeable on second Blue Cavern level at that moment before waterfall when you've already killed the frog and are crossing some sort of downfall with moving platforms: if you'll try to cross this place getting too low from the left edge after the frog - to lowest moving platform and jumping from it to the right edge, you'll lose about 10 frames. I tried to avoid this lag. First Forest level was improved by 5 frames in 2nd rewriting of this movie only because of avoiding this lag.

Can you specify which places exactly? I'm interested ;)

Thanks Aqfaq, I put that screenshot up. I liked this movie too :)
