Hello TASers, I appreciate the recent work on this game and enjoy its style.
However, I wonder something: Could item manipulation and/or the locked rooms help save time? Among the enemy drops are a dart power-up and an item that splits you into three. You can also make them drop keys for the locked doors.
Now, as for the hidden rooms themselves, apparently they either just give you the item or force you to fight a miniboss first. Not sure if this can be manipulated. The item you receive is also somewhat random - try to get the wave beam, as it can take out even real bosses in just a few hits. There's also a permanent dart power-up which is even stronger than the enemy drop...you can get it in level 3-1, maybe earlier.
I may be wrong here, but for how long these boss fights get, I figure it would at least be worth looking into this stuff. =)
