I'm doing something really interesting with this game, i'm making a timeattack in 2 player controlling both characters at the same time, i think it'll be funny to see the synchronization between the characters.

Good luck! I tried with Mario Bros and found it extremely difficult! (But not impossible - who knows if I end up publishing something)

Good try but I can beat that game without losing life at full speed in single player mode. But you're idea is indeed interesting.I have thought doing Double Dragon3 in 2 players too but now it's BAttletoads.

That sounds interesting. Looks like its gonna be a lot of work. I have some tips for that game to speed things up. You probably know them if you played through the game already. Level 1 - Its faster to kill the boss with flying knee rather than push him off the cliff. Level 3 - Stay beside the door the whole time. Level 4 - Kill everyone with the flying knee, the roof spikes dont do any damage to you anyways. Level 5 - You can jump down the cliff instead of taking the ladder. Same with on level 8. Fastest way to kill boss is flying knee off the cliff. Level 8 - Theres a spot in the room where the bosses cant touch you, but you can still hit them with any attack. Cant remember where it is though. For any level - Use the flying knee on anything that moves :P

Hehe, thanks for the tips Sleepz. I spent two days without Internet and i read them after i finished the movie...anyway, the flying knee is the fastest way to kill enemy but i didn't wanted to make it so monotone and i did some cool moves, check it out at the site, i'm sure you'll enjoy it.

hmm do u set both controllers to your keyboard, separate keys for each? cause on some emulators you can set the same key to do many things, i've played a couple of games like that and it's funny sometimes too (on zsnes or mame32), so both characters move exactly the same way, and there's a lot more enemies, not the case of double dragon 2 though.

hmm where exactly? i have always played it starting on 2 player mode (to kill the 2nd player and finish the game with max lives, i was just used to it, don't ask me why hehehe) and i realized i don't need to do it so i played as 1 player mode, but i didn't notice any difference? is it because after i killed the second player the amount of enemies dropped to 1 player mode?

Yeah it automatically do this.A good example is before the last boss there's one clone in 1 player mode and 2 clones in 2 player.

I am currently improving my 2 player version and I want to know people opinions to know if it is good or not. It is currently stage 1 to end of stage 4. ~1:20 faster or so. http://hiddendragon.sytes.net/Double%20Dragon%20II%20-%20The%20Revenge%20(U).zip

Has anyone considered making the two player run in mode b instead of a? Mode b is the one where the two player can do damage to each other. At 1st this seems that is would only slow things down but I was thinking about it today. With mode B, player 2 could use a flying knee to propel player 1 across the screen. There are several places where this could save time. Many times the enemies don't come onto the screen unto one player walks far enough to the right. For example: Stage 5 right after jumping over river, player 2 who is trailing behind could flying knee player one onto the platform with the vines on it. It would get the enemies on the screen quicker. I saw several other spots where in Phil's run where this could be useful. I also noticed that the two players wouldn't get in each other's way as much as I thought. They are usually on opposite sides of the screen when fighting enemies. Also, It would be cool, during wait times to have them beat the crap out of each other!

That is interesting. I wonder if you could have one player knee the other across the water while jumping in, and then he catches up when he comes back to life.

If no one has done it by the time I get around to it, I will do it. But its pretty far down on my list. DW4 is going to take a very long time and after that I plan on doing the 1st double dragon and dw1.

I'm still working on a few other TAS projects, but it occurred to me today that there's some potential here for something cool so I thought I'd start a discussion. There's already a 2-Player Double Dragon 2 run in Mode A. (If I remember correctly, it was done using slow motion instead of frame advance so can be improved in any case.) Mode B, for those who aren't familiar, allow the 2 players to hurt each other. I thought of a few possible time-saving advantages to this: 1. At the beginning of the second level, two players need to climb down a ladder at the same time. Dropping off the ledge would be faster, but doing so causes you to fall in a pit. Here's what you do. Say Billy begins climbing down. Jimmy kicks him, causing him to fall straight down. Jimmy jumps down off the ledge at the same time so Billy doesn't fall offscreen. Jimmy dies, but Billy saves a lot of time getting to the next area, and Jimmy respawns near him. 2. In certain long rooms, one player sacrifices one life by kneeing the other all the way across the room, and landing on spikes or in a pit in the process. They respawn closer to the other player. More possibilities might be explored that I haven't thought of yet.
