I make a quick test run through this lesser known Contra game. I exploited a glitch in levels 2 and 4 which allow me to pass staight through solid objects by pressing Up/Down Left/Right at the same time. Any feedback would be appreciated before I start the final run. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/929/Operation%20C%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.vbm

Did you try the other guns, and did you try speeding up your gun by collecting an extra copy? (I think that's how it works anyway...) Also, did you make sure to only use the walk-through-walls trick when necessary?

The only gun that can be comparable in power is the fire gun. The spread is necessary though for killing multiple targets at once. You are correct that picking up the same gun twice increases its speed; I do collect 2 spread guns if you watch closely. The walk through walks trick can be done at any time, so I did it a lot when it was unnecessary. In a real run I wouldn’t do that.

Hmm, I noticed that when enemies come up behind you, you like to jump up and... shoot downward? Is that the fastest way to do it? Can you shoot down-right and still get them? Just making sure.

Good question. I tested this and I was unable to get them on the angled shot, I would make contact with them myself before the bullets hit. So I did some more testing, and apparently it doesn't cost any time at all by pressing down for 1 frame during the jump even though I stop pressing forward for that frame. I guess the momentum of running keeps you moving forward while jumping even if you stop pressing forward.

This looks good, this should be a pretty easy TAS. The glitch looks neat, you should definitely show it off. What about hunter gun, would that be any faster? I guess if you can nail every shot then spread is better for sure, but having every shot hit without aiming lets you keep firing while dodging which may give it an advantage.
