Patience oh apprentice of mine. Sami, another idea to see if talon trot jumping or talon trot running is faster is to watch x/y coordinates. Of course, unless there is something that you yourself tested that makes you jump all the time, can you share?

Well it's pretty obvious that you slow down after landing a jump after the initial slide, before you start running. So I guess one jump equals infini jumps so you don't lose time with the slowdown?

Yes. I use sliding to speed up. Its faster than normal talon trot running.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1931347343/Banjo-Kazooie-TAS-Sami-%28USA%29.m64 Game clock time is 12.23 Route is same than marshmallow's speedrun. You can't change the route because those golden crocodiles appear always in same order. I take hits to save time and use death as a shortcut. Biting is lot faster as normal walking when Banjo is a crocodile. It sounds aful but :D That last message canceling inside giant turtle is not mistake. With that I get yellow turtle start first. And I hate those places where camera angle change automaticly. Hard to get walking angles right :D Edit: One more thing: When I collect note 96, after that I make little turn. With that I can manipulate that dragonfly close the final notes.

Yay! Can't wait for the AVI. (Wow. 4 1/2 minutes saved without any major route changes.) EDIT:Three minutes of unskippable minigame = >< Further EDIT:All right, one major route change.

Nice job there Sami, as always! Yeah, lol, the biting with Croco is kinda awful to listen at all the time, but whatever. Dead warp was a neat thing too. I'm looking forward to more action!

Great work! Take your time with it, the longer you take, the more I'll be enjoying (not really anything else that interests me on this site atm) :(

It was excellent, Sami! I agree with aqwertyz, this is going to be one of my favorites. Enjoyed the croc battles, though the piranha water was boring.

Looked flawless. My favourite parts where when you shot the egg out backwards for the second gold croc, and it bounced around quite a bit before he ate it, and the minigame, where you waited until right before the red croc ate it before eating it yourself. Good job.

Yeah, those were good. I wondered about a few things, though. -Was it really fastest to kill those gold frogs with Wonderwing? I guess it would be if you can refill all those gold feathers without wasting time later on... -When you got to the top of all those huts on stilts, you jumped over to the Croctus to put in the egg. Couldn't you have shot straight across from the previous platform to save that jump? (Or wait, did you collect an item in between those platforms? Well, I guess you might be able to turn back in mid-jump if shooting from afar works.) -How much work went into manipulating Tiptup's song? Would it be too unreasonable to try to get adjacent turtles throughout the entire sequences? Could you have gotten the puzzle piece while it was appearing if you had gotten the front turtle to sing last? And you always made sure to hit the last turtle of a song so that you were on the edge closest to the next turtle to sing, right? -I noticed you took off the wading boots just as you got to the puzzle piece button near Mumbo's skull. Does that mean that walking in the boots is faster than running or jumping with Banjo and faster than getting in and out of a Talon Trot for such a short distance? I don't remember if this game is ever like Banjo-Tooie in letting you sneak past harmful water by hugging the wall, but it might be worth a try sometimes.

It's fastest to kill those gold frogs with wonderwing. It takes least two hits any other movements. In the middle of the huts, there is a Mumbo token. And I saved time by farting the egg and flying to the next hut before the animation starts. Tiptup's songs was really aful to manipulate. Singing order was always really bad...This is the best I can get. I take off the wading boots when I was in the button because button was close the pirahna waterline. Wading boots caceling takes time and you have to roll or walk to the button. Now I can immediately press the button after caceling the boots. I tetsted that wallhugging thing when I take the first Jiggy and it wont work. But...well I remake littlebit...try manipulate Tiptup's songs more :P

if you redo something, please give us a savestate next time, cuz I only make them at end of a world, and the one prior to this desynched so I had to ffw thru clankers cav and I don't feel like doing that every time.

I make several save states. It's not up to the runner to make save states for those who can't make there own. If you lack a save state and have to rewatch the whole run again, you have to suit yourself =P.

if you wanna do that argument again, then go suit yourself. it's like saying if the author wants people to watch his wips, he should watch it himself.

No. Tompa is right here, no questions asked. The duty of the runner is to make the movie, he has no obligation whatsoever to make savestates just for you. I'm sorry, but WIP watching is not about having everything catered to your needs. If that's what you think, then you're dreadfully wrong. As for the movie, I liked it a lot. I didn't mind the biting to walk faster thing, it was kinda funny. The deathwarp was also good, I don't know why you didn't do this in earlier levels.

There is no chance use deathwarp in earlier levels. Mumbo's Mountain, final notes is close to the level exit plate. Treasure Trove Cove, Sandcastle Jiggy + Notes is close to the exit plate. Clanker's Cavern, hmm it takes some time to drown... if i remember correctly, Banjo's oxygen was half when I enter the ground so no faster :P And Bubblegloop Swamp is complete. I tested Tiptup's songs again and I can't get that better. So its complete!

when did I ever say it's his obligation? why the hell are you allowed to even decide it's his duty to even do the run? if he wants to stop then it's his own call. when did I ask for him to dl my mupen64 and set it up? - all I did is asking friendly if he could provide a savestate next time if he were to redo something. notice the word please in my post. yet, appearantly, I can't even ask something here without being yelled at by people I didn't even direct my post at. what the hell do you care if I ask for a little something of the runner? it's not like he has to go out of his way, since he should be keeping savestates on his own anyway, so it's hardly much more asked to upload the most relevant savestate aswell. I mean, he could also just say like "another level finished" and not give out his m64 either. same thing. I'm doing a friendly request, and so far Sami is the only one who hasn't provided savestates yet (out of the runs that I follow(ed), which is about 7 or so), even after asking before (he seems to have ignored/not seen my question before). so, if he all it takes him is to upload an extra file (1 MB is practically nothing), it makes it alot easier for those that follow the run, without me having to make savestates every minute of the run since it is possible that he redid something SOMEWHERE I CAN'T EVEN PREDICT BEFOREHAND. so, I'd have to like keep a ton of 1 MB files, trying to organise them in some way to keep them apart (BK - WIP - min [#].st1 or so). well guess what I'd rather wait for the whole thing to be done than having to do all that as a viewer. any input someone could have had during the making of the run won't be of any use to the run if that someone doesn't watch the WIPs. I'm not that desperate for this run. anyone who makes all their own savestates is beyond desperate, imo. it's like as if you intend to coauthor the run and redo parts when you feel like it since you have all the savestates at your possession anyway. in short, I like to write essays when it gets down to discussion.

I'll propose you guys won't make savestate when stage ends. Make savestate when stage starts. When stage is complete finished, then make savestate in the end of level. Clear enough :D

Nice wip Sami! Everything looked very nicely optimized. I like the little deathwarp you did at the end! Favorite part was probably the spinning crocodile in the eating contest! That was hilarious!
