Many years ago I was a chef for Halloween at my Junior High school. I won the competition for best costume and all the kids in gym class called me "Chef" for the next two years. Stef is short for my first name, Stefan, so I combined the two when I needed a username for gamefaqs. It stuck and I have used it elsewhere ever since.

Did you taste it with your mouth? I guess if you like black liquorish then its okay. Haha, Ouzo is sooooooooo gross. I only know this because in Greece its an f'n smash hit!
If you dont recognize my name its from Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls. "Guano bowls, collect the whole set!"
Change my sig. again, and I will murder your pet fish.
[13:29:34] <_LSK_> one day I was bored of my old internet name, InsertNameHere. so when I entered IRC for the first time, my name was QAZWSCEDCRFVTGBYHNUJMIIOLP.
[13:29:41] <_LSK_> the mod asked me to shorten it.
[13:29:51] <JX_> another song recorded! yay
[13:29:55] <_LSK_> so I became QAZWSXEDCRFVTGBYHN.
[13:29:58] <JX_> what an anal mod!!!
[13:29:59] <JX_> lol
[13:30:01] <_LSK_> still too long.
[13:30:09] <_LSK_> so I became LeftSideofKeyboard
[13:30:15] <_LSK_> which eventually became LSK
[13:30:30] <JX_> hahaha that's one of the coolest name stories I've ever heard!
My nick is derived from "The Not So Evil". This worked fine for Dialup boards and such, but once I got to irc, TheNotSoEvil was usually too long so I had to shorten it (Also my tools release group complained it was too long/weird). So I ended up with TNSe (in true MiXeD CaSe style).
Interestingly enough, TNSe also coincides with the first letter of my first name, second letter of second, third of third and fourth letter of fourth. Oh, and if I take my last name and rearrange the letters, I get TNSEE.
And when entering a 3 letter initial on arcades, I used to use TAS. Really.

Some people says me that i catch this nick because i like nordic myths (Nibelung ring). Other, because i like Valkyrie Profile (I'll shall put a grave upon your soul. Divine Assault. Nibelung Valesty!). And a 3rd says that is because of Saint Seiya series (another Nibelung Ring).
The truth is: When i was playing a one-shot RPG adventure, i needed a fast and sonorous name to a Paladin. The first name that come to my mind was Nibelung Valesty (Yep, from VP :-]). The one-shot adventure was turned in a campaign and when i joined my first forum, i put "Nibelung" in the nick.
oh, an old thread I noticed just now.

This all happened about 10 years ago, so yeah I'm carrying a nickname invented by some teenager (me). *sigh*
same here. IIRC it was around 1995, when I was 13. I was sitting at school, in one of our new computer rooms, when I noticed a classmate joining a chat room. I wanted to join the same room to fool with him, so I quickly needed a nick he didn't know. The only thing I could come up with was a 3-word-term to describe me, and picking the first letters, getting TUB. Since that 3-word-term was childish and doesn't fit me at all, I tried to get rid of that nick, but couldn't. So I changed it to Tub or tub over time, to point out that it's not an abbrevation any more, just a nick without meaning. No, it is not related to bath tubs or the technical university of berlin. And it sure is not related to teletubbies at all. I was there first! Leave me alone, all of you!
Since Tub is often already registered or too short for a username, I have a second nick. I grabbed a klingon dictionary from a friend, just picked a random word and took that. I think it was written Ha'Qchor. Too bad I couldn't get rid of the trekkies, so I reversed it to be safe. rohcQaH. Means sugar or something.
But still, I'm called Tub in real life, even by my brother and my girlfriend, so it's a nick that won't change anymore.
Long story, stupid nick.
oh, bisqwit, isn't creativity and inventing (and maybe cookies ;)) something you can identify with? *looks confused*

well, how do you pronounce klingon? And backwards? I wouldn't know, so chances are slim that someone will call me by that nick in real life.
And no, I wouldn't call myself hacker or even hack0r. Might as well pick the nick "stupid self-overestimating pubescent kid" ;)
