lol you guys. dudes pay attention to the problem at hand before giving tips. how could I be missing the codec if I've seen the run? you know that I have seen it, because else I couldn't know it's missing the time screen. for the record, I use FFDShow for ages. now someone please give some helpful help. or better yet, just remake the vid with the time screen :p

sort of looked over snowball's last line. so I went there, but I don't see where to change it from x264 to libavcodec after going through the items.

Did you never play Where's Waldo as a kid? :-/ VFW codec configuration -> H.264 disabled. Click on disabled and change to libavcodec. Alright, let this thread get back on topic. If you still can't find the screen with the time, trust those that could.

it would have been nice if you had told me it was under the 'decoder' tab under the item 'codecs'. anyway, I checked and it's weird. when I go to 7283, it's the completion screen (not time thus), then I go 2 forward to and then back again, and THEN I see the time screen. certainly this is not how it's meant to be..?

Well, I'm stuck at Frigate at the moment. I'm having problems manipulating the hostages. I'm not sure what causes the time of their escape, but it doesn't seem to be the frame when you kill the captor. I've had the same hostage escape at different times with the same kill of his captor. I was able to fail a 0:57 on the frigate though, with only the hostages remaining. Seeing as it's going to take some time to figure out how the hostages work,,, and the first four levels kind of suck, I might as well start over now before I get much further. I don't think it will take me too long to get back to where I am now, since I know what I'm doing this time.

I think the hostages need to run to a specific place in order for the mission to complete, but sometimes if you're unlucky they get stuck and stuff so it takes longer.

AND they can take the slower paths.. and it doesn't happen 'sometimes', more like 99% of the time I'd say. I think everything you do from the moment a hostage is released could matter for the outcome.

Is there some way to track the hostages while you're off doing something else so you can manipulate them to take the fastest path?

yeah can't you just hex in the value that makes the hostage take the fastest path by default? it's not exactly cheating, it's just minipulating the luck right?

The movie file is only a series of input, so I couldn't hex in some values to make hostages escape without changing the input. I've played around with it a bit, and I THINK it may be actions I take during the time from after I kill the captor to when the hostage starts moving that determines the time of their escape. If this is the case, it shouldn't be too hard to get the hostages all to escape in time, but I'll likely lose some time from taking indirect movements/rapid pausing etc. to manipulate them into faster escapes. While I have been able to fail 57, I may end up with 1:00 or so, if I bother to finish the current run. I think I'll be starting over though, I enjoyed doing some of the early levels and I know I can do them all faster than I did.

Please tell me that someone's tried looking into getting boosts by mines on Caverns (by shooting them) - I think it should finally be possible now, on a TAS of course. Btw, awesome/hilariously great videos so far.

I'm still working on this, though it might be awhile for the next WIP since a lot of shit has come up recently.
