We strive to publish runs that are as optimal as possible; generally, submissions need to meet or beat known records. As your submission doesn’t beat our current publication, it is unacceptable for publication. Also, the "No L+R” goal doesn't create enough of a difference for this game to warrant a separate publication from our baseline.
Please use userfiles for uploading sub-optimal runs, and reserve submissions (via the submission page) for runs you believe can be published based on our rules/guidelines.
We look forward to seeing what you can come up with in the future.”

Hello RodrigoTeixeira07, and Welcome to TASVideos.
As you yourself mentioned, this TAS is suboptimal. Even compared to RTA runs unfortunately.
Super Mario Bros. is a highly technical title, usually used by newcomers to learn the ropes with the TASing process.
For a goal on what to match Maru has made, and provided in the description a showcase of "No L+R" input. A Human Theory TAS.

Sorry dude but hey, you said it yourself. This is non-optimal, and yet you're still submitting it.
I don't wanna sound rude or anything (especially knowing this is your first submission), but this isn't the right place to upload your run.
I'd also like to add that "RTA Rules" or "No L + R" doesn't make for an interesting enough goal for a Super Mario Bros. run to be published here; if we had something like that (even if it's greatly optimized), then it'd be largely similar to HappyLee's original run. Worse yet, that's the fastest run of the game thus far, with no further improvements found since.
Just wanna go ahead and echo what Spikestuff said: The original Super Mario Bros. is undoubtedly a popular choice for first-time TASers, especially those who prefer simpler games to make runs of. But there may be other games that could be worth trying as well...
Make sure you're used to the tools and features available in your emulator (savestates, slowdowns, rewinds, and TASStudio) and upload your future efforts to userfiles.
And please, ask questions... ask! if you have any at all. Don't just wing it with another submission and it turns out to be so-so...
If you have a Discord account, there is a dedicated server where you can do so.
I just wanna point out by the way after all this, that this is not meant to discourage or scare you! This is just me giving you advice on your future accomplishments. Believe me, even I have to check and double-check every so often to make sure my runs are in tip-top shape.
Go again when you've optimized all you can; I'll refrain from voting for now, though.
Yaaay, I'm an active player now! :D (as of 11/9/2024) Thanks to TASVideos for the support, they're awesome.
I'm Asumeh, semi-expert SMB1 TASer. :)
Check out some of the TASes I don't submit/upload to TASVideos on my YouTube channel, if you'd like.
In progress:
- Extra Mario Bros. (redo) (with HappyLee and w7n) - I'm currently assisting with finding improvements before the boss. On hold; we're currently struggling to confirm that we have the fastest route. Some debugging may also help with finding glitch exits, but neither of us are experts in that field.
- Record my older TASes (excluding any obsolete TASes) and upload to YouTube.
- Pretty busy at the moment...
Check out my other links here. (Mostly WIP hehe)
