How about a Balloon Kid run without Balloons at these places where it is possible. And catch at less Balloons as possible too.
I don't know if this is possible to do it complete without Balloons. Maybe not in the later Stages, but then I will use Balloons only at these places where I really need it.
I have start with the 1. Stage and there you need no Balloons for example.
I have try to catch less Balloons as possible too, because
1. is much harder not collect Ballons which in your way and
2. it cost some more time after the Stage is done. For every Ballons you get 100 points and this will count after the Stage. So it is faster, when you not collect them.
But I think its impossible for some Ballons. So I have catch 2 Ballons where is no way around them I think.
Balloon Kid (J) 1. Stage without Balloons and catch only 2 Balloons.
PS: My ROM was named as Japanese ROM, but maybe its all the same. One other ROM which I found called (JUE).

Wasn't this the game that was also a Hello Kitty game for NES?

I now only a game called Balloon Fight. For years I have think its the same as this one. But its more like Joust when I remember it right. But too with Balloons.
After look at one picture: yes, looks near the same. Only different character. Here its not Hello Kitty, its just a girl where the little brother fly away with some Ballons. So you fly after him too with Ballons.

Collect 5 Balloons and use 1 time Balloon. Have try more times, but can't jump over this big place, so I must use Balloon here 1 time.
I look into Stage 3 and there I must use Balloon at the beginning too. So its impossible to play it through without use it. But I try to use it as less as possible.

Stage 3 done
Was hard. The last part in the whale mouth without Balloons. First I have think I must fly there, but now I have done it without Balloons in the last part from this Stage. I use 6-7 times Balloon in the first parts, because its not possible without there. And I collect only 7 Balloons.
One time I jump at the Balloon to destroy it at the spikes. This help me to get through the crabs and collect no Balloons there. Nice trick I think.

A short Stage, but must use often Balloon here. Sometimes I use the same Balloon more times. And catch only 3 Balloons in this Stage.

Every Shooter like R-Type and Gradius and autoscrolling. But there exist speedruns too. So why not make one from this game. This is the main reason, why I try to play it a different way and use as less balloons as possible. To make it a bit more entertainment.
Bosses are the only part, where you must play with Speed, the Stages are auotscrolling. But you must always at the left side when you reach the end from the Stage.
