Post subject: Can't config controller for SNES9X 1.43+

I have some problems configuring my controller to SNES9X 1.43+ - downloaded from the latest update (#7). When I open the joystick config screen, most of the settings are set to white (which means they're not working) while only one or two actually works, since they are blue. But when I try to assign a button, three things happen: - The button gets mapped properly. - The button remains white and is not mapped at all. - Two or more buttons are assigned the same map. (ie: I assign button A to this map, and it is also mapped to the UP and DOWN buttons) The first one RARELY, if at ALL, works. I get a lot of the second and third ones. I've tried the "assign a button, then click OK and do again with the next button" method, but that didn't work. I use a Gravis GamePad PRO controller, and it has worked for me for a long time - it works in ZSNES and other games properly, that's for sure, but not in SNES9X 1.43+. I am terribly sorry if this has been asked before. Thank you for your help.

I also had some problems with the controller input. The buttons are set in different uncalculated fields. But luckyly I could solve this problem myself after experimenting different variations, now I won't change the input at all to avoid this. Maybe nitsuja or someone else would know the reason... EDIT: A hint: Just open up the original "Snes9x 1.43 WIP1" and set the input buttons you wish. It works perfect without errors on this one. Then just close it and open the improved version again. The buttons will be remembered as you have configured them in WIP1.

The joypad configuration problem seems to be some bug of Final vs WIP, which means 1.43+ just inherited the problem from 1.43 Final. So I don't really know why it happens, much like I don't know why it doesn't work to type the name of the ROM in the rom open dialog. (Last I checked there were still lots of complaints about this joypad config weirdness on the Snes9X forums, and the best solution was to use a previous version to change your settings, as Saturn said.)

I found the cause of this problem earlier. All of the edit fields were listening for joypad input, so one of them would randomly get the input first and change that button instead of what you meant to change. It's not in any release yet but rest assured the fix has been made and will be there whenever the next version comes out.
