Wai Wai World is a mash up of various Konami games and characters from the NES era. In it you rescue 6 trapped characters before travalling to the last level and beating the game.
This run mostly follows the RTA route, which saves a great deal of time by using keys better and death abuse. Death abuse is accomplished using the button combination Up+Select+A+B, which the game manual mentions as a fail safe in case you cannot progress, a fail safe against soft locks, as some areas are only accessible by certain characters but those characters might die after you get there and then you can't get back.
The main routing difference between this run and the RTA run is in Goemon's stage where I gamble at dice to be able to bring back characters instead of bringing them all back at the slot machine. This saves back tracking to the warp after rescuing Goemon. unfortunately you need all characters alive to be able to enter the space ships to travel to the last level, so I have to bring everyone back, even though they aren't necessary. Still this saves ~10 seconds overall.

Samsara: Claiming for judging. Also oops, forgot to replace with a bugfixed version until now.
Samsara: It's lovely how there are still bridges to be formed between 2004 and now. From the year the site opened submissions and set the almost 2 decade old record for most submissions in a year to now, where this run helped break that record. Bookends like that are fun. Four minute improvements are even more fun! Accepting as an improvement to the published run!

Temp Encode UPD: removed because the TAS has been published.
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

Thanks for the encode Dimon12321. Glad to see an improvement for 1 player category. Nice job finding out about the instant death command and reviving characters through a different method rather than the slot machine minigame seen on the current 2 players category. I wonder how much time you could improve that run by implementing both finds. At the end of this encode, seems you forgot (again) to add some extra "A" presses to get to the credits. Meanwhile, yes vote and goodbye all remaining 2004 runs.
My homepage --Currently not much motived for TASing as before...-- But I'm still working.

Oh yeah thanks for pointing that out, new file: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638043767938618519 You can't kill player 2 with the command, as player 2 has no select button on the famicom and pressing the combination twice for player 1 doesn't kill player 2. So it wouldn't save that much time in 2 player, about 10 seconds looking over the current run. In 2 players you can use death abuse + dice game in essentially the same way, so at least another 10 seconds can be saved there. EDIT: actually you would need to test first if rescuing a character automatically assigns them to player 2, if o not as much time can be saved since you would need to climb the stairs to kill off player 2. 2 player routing is more complicated though, maybe a different route could lead to even more savings.

It looks like the submitted movie doesn't actually reach the credits like the currently published 1 player run. This one does, though I'm not sure if movie will have to be replaced. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638048456560262145

Yeah the movie that reaches the credits, which was intended for replacement, is linked in the post directly above yours.

Glad to see new tricks. I didn't know the dice game for characters resurrection, any explanation? I just found the suicide trick works for player 2 as well, using 1p select + 2p up + A +B. For 2 player run, it's very useful to keep only 1 player in final stage for lag reduction. I also know another trick of using same character for 2 players, but it looks not useful for any% 2 player run, just add some entertainment.
