reirrab's TAS on the DS game Space Invaders Extreme 2
This run focuses on the semi-hard path (1-2-3B-4B-5C) and getting the fastest time.

feos: Claiming for judging.
feos: This run was made using a bad dump ([Underdumped header]), but it syncs on the good dump too, so I fixed the movie header to match the latter.
Also trimmed blank input at the end. It would have been better to include the credits roll, but this game doesn't seem to advance the credits unless you actually play, and [1570] DS Space Invaders Extreme 2 by FractalFusion in 07:56.48 ends similarly to this run, so it's fine.
feos: I made an encode where I aligned comparable segments of both runs, this and FractalFusion's:
There's very little information on the internet about how comparable the two modes actually are, but I found this article which says
Joining the traditional Score Attack mode is a Time Attack mode. These are the same levels as found in Score Attack, but instead of racking up points, players will be racing against a clock.
And after watching the comparison encode, I noticed that at the very least the levels common for both runs are indeed very similar. I also noticed that FractalFusion was quite a bit more optimal with execution and strategies in those common segments. So much so that I think their run wasn't actually checked during the making of this submission. The audience also noticed that this run is not up to par.
Just like it's said in our Guidelines, one should absolutely check if there are existing TASes of the game one is trying out. Awareness of known techniques makes the end result much better, compared to doing everything alone from scratch. And to gain the required skill to be able to make optimal TASes from scratch, one needs to learn beating others first.
Rejecting for sub-optimality, but better luck next time!

Hello reirrab and welcome to TASVideos. I was actually a bit excited when I saw this submission. Curious how this compares to Hardest Path... I don't believe it's necessary to select Time Attack when there should be a dedicated RAM Value allowing you to do fair comparisons to say the Hardest Path movie (I'll look into this later). There's points on general bosses where you have questionable miss-shots; first, second and fourth On the first boss, you hit an enemy on one of the drops, where theoretically you would've had enough distance to be able to hit the mothership one last time. On the second boss, you unfortunately have shots that are missing entirely, where you could've in practice been able to shoot the enemy in the second wave... but there's another issue, the boss on this one can be beaten before it retreats the second time. On the fourth boss, there's a questionable miss-shot. On the final boss, when compared to FractalFusion you're allowing to be obstructed by the aliens, FractalFusion had to shoot one to get out of his way (and he had to deal with more cause hardest). In comparison to the Hardest Path you also don't play around enough in your downtime such as grabbing the extra points for no necessary reason, in my opinion this is what makes a SIE2 TAS unique. This is a great start, but more can be done.

You know what I'd like to see? A TAS of SIE2 that focused on getting the highest possible score, showcasing every method of scoring pushed to their absolute limit.

I can't remember a lot of things from a game I did a TAS of 12 years ago. From what I can remember though: * I aimed to get Fever Time as soon as possible, which meant priority to shooting the UFO and clearing the Bingo panel as soon as possible. * Red-red and green-red Bingo panels give the fastest bonus round clears if you use a laser (blue). * When not in Fever mode and having bomb (red), it is better to alternate bomb and normal fire as much as possible. This game takes quite a bit of effort to TAS, if I remember correctly.
