I use VisualBoyAdvance ReRecording 9b to record this movie
My emulator setting: Left+Right, Up+Down Support, HQ2x Filter
Play in Beginner mode (10 levels) I use no warps. But use shortcuts.
No take hits, no deaths, so I can get into extra levels
Then I enter Staff Level and go to the goal and get 1st rank.
The movie finish and then you back to title screen and Monkey Fight Mode was Unlocked.
The hardest part is Level. 6 when I'm falling down to the goal and bounce of the stage
My goals are:
Beat as fast as I can without warping
Played all extra levels
and get the 1st rank on the credit stage.

Truncated: This run can be done a lot faster as demonstrated in the submission thread. Also, you broke the rules by not playing at the hardest difficulty. Therefore, rejecting.

Haven't watched it yet, but... why do you only play the beginner mode? I think a run of this game should play all 4 difficulty modes, either that or only expert. (Also, you don't need to tell us your emulator settings for VBA submissions, they don't matter for watching the movie.)

Haven't seen it, but I believe it's a rule to play on the hardest difficulty.

I like this version much better than the last. (Nice falling :) ) And yet, I am inclined to agree with nitsuja in that a beginner-only run is kind of boring and doesn't give you the oppurtunity to show off lots of impressive stunts. An expert run would be wonderful.

I think you have a great idea. Super Monkey Ball could make an extremely entertaining speedrun, and is a very difficult game (basically a first-person 3d version of Marble Madness). I could definitely watch someone beat that game in an incredibly short amount of time, but you do need to play the hardest levels. Keep going!

This is better than before, but you're still being way too cautious on some of the levels to get near the fastest time. Here's something closer to how it should be done: http://nvdata.pilif.ch/smbjr-ex2.zip (made a while ago and stopped when I realized I'd have to start it all over because I didn't get the black-screen intro for every level which saves 1 second each time)

I havent watch one of these movies yet.. but i should. I almost beat Expert Mode on super monkey ball for gamecube. I got to level 47 of 50. Challengeing.. When i have a look at this, i shall give some pointers.

I think you could do it that fast if you are willing to spend more retries on each movie you record. (I don't have enough time to work on it right now.)

I enjoyed this run, but I am not going to vote because I did not enjoy the game, thusly never playing past the first few stages. I claim ignorance of it. I am rather confident that this run could be optimized further, though I can not cite specifics. Over all, your paths seemed very optimal, just not done with optimal movements (though potentialy close to). I do agrea with the common idea that you should not be playing this game on easy, but should be playing it on one of the longer hard mode. Though if this game does not include the areas from the simplier levels of difficulty in the harder ones, I do not see the problem with there being multiple runs based upon difficulty selection, or a single run encompasing all 3. The jumping from platforms to lower ones in ways unintended by the level designers was awsome and proved to be greatly entertaining. I would love to see you butcher some of the more difficult levels in this manor. I do also enjoy how you bothered to play through the credits stage. EDIT--- nitsuja: Very nice test run of the normal difficulty. It may be the game it self moving like clay, but it once again apeared to contain suboptimal movements. I really enjoyed the platform hopping on floor8 :)

Falling to lower floors was obviously foreseen by the designers, and its part of the chalenge, thats why theres the "easy" route. Its hard to fall to a floor below but its clearly possible. Its interesting to see this first 3d tool assisted emulated timeattack (i think it is), and i dont mind having the begginer play, as long as all the other dificulty settings are played too, as each difficutly presents unique tracks.

I can only assume, and I would say it was foreseen but was not intentional in the level design.

U should use shareaza from shareaza.com Becuse: 1. Connects to 3 servers: Gnutella2, eDonkey2000, Gnutella1 2. Can download BitTorrents and can seed some fles. 3. Connects to Shareaza iMesh eDonkey eMule BearShare LimeWire 4. Can find for more sources. (Means it can download the same file from Gnutella2, eDonkey2000, Gnutella1, and from bitTorrent)

I think i found some way to get the black screen! I don't sure it is work! You must make press A button exacly when reach the goal and start press A repeatly. So you should make a savestate before reaching the goal.

A few days ago I got bored and recorded a bit of this game. You can get what I accomplished [URL=http://nvdata.pilif.ch/SuperMonkeyBallJr(U).rar]here[/URL] . The levels should be perfect now, as I was alot more daring than yaqs (In most cases a few seconds faster). A few of the levels might be improvable by a fraction of a second, such as level 1-2 and 2-2 because I think that bumping the edges (You will see) hurt me more than it helped me. I don't plan on ever finishing this. I have other runs to work on. Maybe someone will get inspired though.
