This is the long-awaited entirely new movie of Rockman 2, making of which was started in March 19th 2004.
Finalfighter's comments about this movie are at: http://www.globetown.net/~rockmovie/aaa.htm
This movie is played by Morimoto and Finalfighter.
I'll skip to the thanks part:
Thanks to
  • Nori for making Famtasia
  • Norix for making VirtuaNES
  • Bisqwit for consultation in game glitches
  • blip for making the invaluable 60 fps Famtasia patch
  • Kuwata for a Rockman 2 level editor
  • Hirano for consultation in ladder and wall tricks
  • Terimakasih for consultation in "shutter technique" (?)
  • The Rockmania site
  • Rockの遊戯館 site
  • SEASIDE LABORARY site for cheat codes
  • WASP site
  • The Joytokey program
  • The Stirling binary editor program
Important note: Finalfighter explicitly forbids republishing this movie (and AVI files made of it) on commercial and advertisement-paid sites.
  • Made with Famtasia
  • Abuses luck (weapon refills, boss behavior)
  • Takes a lot of advantage of game glitches
  • Takes damage to save time
  • No warps, no passwords
A detailed commentary will be coming later (at least in Japanese).

Bisqwit: If someone manages to convert this to FCM, please contact me. I'd like to make the AVI with FCEU (because of superior emulation quality).

Awesome! I've been waiting for this like Duke Nukem Forever. Of course this came out and Duke never will, but thats beside the point. An obvious yes vote from me. Kinda funny the Quick Man stage was almost exclusively played with a black screen due to that glitch.

Wohooo! This was great. I vote yes and all that. The description could use some work. A lot of poeple will probably wonder what the heck is going on a lot of the time. And I too would like this to be encoded from FCEU, famtasia destroys the music of some levels.

Awesome! But why Famtasia? I think I'm going to wait for the AVI or a FCM version, because Famtasia is such a pain in the ass to use. Anyway, great job, and all that!

Very well done, 10% shaved off the old time and that run was one of the best on the site in the first place. Double-plus yes. Also, I second Truncated's comments on sound quality & need for more commentary.

"Completing as fast as possible" should be changed here to "completed faster than possible", there were so many awesome tricks everywhere it's just a plain joy to watch this over and over. Fantastic job and great you finally got it finished guys.

That was awesome. I especially liked glitching through Quick Man's stage and fighting him in the dark. That was nifty. At first I wondered why he chose the order of Robot Masters he did, but it all became apparent over time. Oh, am I the only one who had trouble with speed adjustments in a few areas? Particularly at every 'Get Equipped With...' screen when Rockman flashes colors, Famtasia crashed to a halt for a moment before sputtering back to life again and fastforwarding back to the Enemy-select screen... was that just me? At least it never desynched on me, but it was distracting. It also happened in the battle with the Wily-Machine II, though not as bad.

if i get disembowled by a crack baby on the way home tonight, today will still have been a good day because of this. definite YES. a single question though... in the gutsdozer level, what was the reason for the second rush/rocket? it was right before "water" part ended.

To get a perfect timing for the item2's disappearance in the next level.

... wow. Careful planning has definetly paid off. There were so many cool tricks done it almost seems surreal. Entertainment value off the scale. A definite yes. .... Did I already say "wow"?

*sigh* I wish poor Rock didn't have to take so many hits this time around. The level order confuses me...why do Bubble before Flash? Couldn't the Time Stopper or Item-3 have been useful in Bubbleman's lair? He doesn't use the Bubble Lead to defeat Flash Man or anything. I noticed he fired the Air Shooter off screen during the Clashman rematch. Was that to lure Clashman over in his direction? Whatever, it's not like I'm going to say NO.

There's no place for item-3, and there are no enemies he must wait&avoid. Spikes are not affected by timestopper. Probably the levels are exchangeable. Re: clashman Yes, it was to manipulate the boss's behavior. It wasn't needed in Morimoto's version originally, but the editing of the previous levels changed the randomness so it was required.

Does the flash stopper stop the spawning of those large fishes blocking the way in bubble man's stage? Those that spit out shrimps. If so that could be useful since your falling slower in the water right?

Vertical speed is irrelevant if what matters is the progress of going horizontally. And he didn't have to wait for the shrimps. The little wait was because of the spike wall. Also, remember that switching weapons *twice* costs almost a second.

>*sigh* I wish poor Rock didn't have to take so many hits this time around. I thought about the same thing. But I trusted the authors judgement that there was no other good way. >I noticed he fired the Air Shooter off screen during the Clashman rematch. Was that to lure Clashman over in his direction? Most likely. He turns around the first time around too (but doesn't shoot) and Clashman reacts the same way both times. He didn't jump like that in the previous movie. >Does the flash stopper stop the spawning of those large fishes blocking the way in bubble man's stage? Those that spit out shrimps. If so that could be useful since your falling slower in the water right? I don't know but it doesn't matter. He is never slowed down by them. Walking speed in water is the same as jumping speed in water. You'd just lose time switching weapons. One thing I'm puzzled about is the usage of rocket in Woodman stage at the monkeys. Why doesn't he get off at the front of the rocket?

Hmm.. To get a better angle and fall speed just as the rocket disappears?

I'm not even going to vote for this or say how great it is because it's status is hardly in question. But I did want to point that there were a few places where, while taking hits, they could have turned around to get knocked forward instead of backward. It's a little bit faster and IMO it takes away a little bit of the ugliness of getting hit. I was impressed by how much faster than the 26:15 video it is. There isn't anything really different between the two; it just goes to show how much things can add up. Methinks any one of my videos can be beaten by a decent amount in the same manner.

In the Flashman level, I suppose? Are you certain this would have been possible?

Heh, guess I should try things out before I run my mouth :-) Seems things changed between 2 and 3 cause that would have been possible in any of the later ones. Forget what I said.

Ah, yes. I don't know about the NES games, but in the Game Boy game I'm working on, it doesn't matter which way Rockman faces when he gets hit; he always drifts away from the side of the enemy he hit. So I would assume Rockman 2 works the same way if he didn't bother to turn around.
put yourself in my rocketpack if that poochie is one outrageous dude
