Post subject: TASing conventions (?)

I am about to start my first actual attempt at creating a TAS, before I get started I'd like to ask a couple pointers about the conventions when it comes TASes in general. The game I am about to TAS is Loaded from the PS1. There are a number of options in the (wouldn't you know it?) Options menu. Difficulty ranges in 5 steps from Players Are Fairies to Players are Loaded. You can start the game with anywhere between 1 and 5 lives. You can also start the game with anywhere between 1 and 5 continues. This effectively means for this game you can have just about anywhere between 2 and 25 lives for the whole game. Since TASes are supposed to show supernatural inhuman skill my gut tells me I should run with the hardest difficulty with minimum lives and minimum continues. What's the general consensus about this sort of thing?

Let's see. If the only thing that changes in a higher difficulty is the amount of damage an enemy takes, lower it. (I couldn't find any documentation about this, so I don't know.) Default. Default.

I've spent some time searching around but haven't found anything RE: difficulty levels. I have found playing the game however that enemies seem to be bullet sponges and I THINK that enemy numbers don't change. Guess one way to find out is to play through a level. Kill everything and see if the body count displayed at the end of the level is different.
