Introduction

Lucky Luke Desperado Train is a game developed by Infogrames and brought in November 15th 2000 on GameBoy Color. The theme of certain levels are in touch with certain famous titles such as: The Ballad of the Daltons, Western Circus, Travelling up the the Mississippi or still The Rivals of Painful Gulch.

History

Desperados have stolen a train. Lucky Luke has got to catch them before they lay waste to the land.

Comments

Just like this TAS [2331] GBC Lucky Luke "100%" by TheKDX7 in 31:07.97 it involves about an execution is 100% by collecting 5 hidden stars in each of the levels.
There are 6 levels where there are no stars to be got back: Horseshoe, French Cancan!, Crazy Telegram!, Every Dog Has It's Day, Desperado City and Runaway Train.
The game is played in the hardest difficulty "Marshall".

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 1.11.4
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Uses death to save time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses the hardest difficulty
  • Genre: Action
  • Genre: Platform

Stage by stage comments

Bonus stage

Having got back all the stars you will have to make one mini-games bonus where it will be necessary to fire at Daltons before the end of time.
You have 4 seconds to fire at a Dalton and once this last touched, the stopwatch will restore you 4 seconds to fire again at a Dalton and etc....
Given that this TAS aims at the fastest time no Dalton will be hurt during this video.

Nothing Gulch

  • As in any% TAS I fire 2 balls at the enemy to get through without taking damages.
  • I take a stick of dynamite to take the second star afterward.
  • Use Reset Cycle on the green building so that the enemy goes out later of the window.
  • Having taken the third star there is always this graphic glitch which makes us take a damage for nothing... http://imgur.com/x9pzqbJ

Painful Gulch

  • Dance with the hen while waiting for the second star.
  • Set apart to climb houses to take stars there is nothing special to indicate.

Horseshoe

  • Boring level, nothing special to explain here.

Circus Show

  • The difference with the any% TAS is that we have to make a long way with Rantanplan of the left-hand side of the cave.
  • Always in the left part of the cave I turn back on a slope frozen with Rantanplan to make begin again the cylcle of the balloon and be able to rise above.
  • Having taken the third star I use the death to save time and so avoid me redoing the path in the inverse direction, what is much slower.
  • Reset Cycle at the same time as I get back the key to be able to reach the balloon.

Nelson's Soup

  • Auto-Scroll level...

French Cancan!

  • Use of the End of Level Earlier (ELE) by pressing on a button in a precise frame.

Cowboy Quay

  • I discovered a minor improvement which could be applied in the any% TAS. Jolly Jumper can simply run without having to jump to avoid the barrel. I call back that jump and land on the ground makes us lose frames. http://imgur.com/a/ryYua
  • Having used the rope to lower the bridge I have to go look for the last star which is quite to the left on the roof of the boat. I tested the case or I use death to save time after the obtaining of the star to see if I could appear closer to the bridge and so save time. But unsuccessfully.

Mississippi Race

  • Nothing special.

Crazy Telegram!

  • Use of the End of Level Earlier (ELE) by pressing on a button in a precise frame.

Blizzard Blues

  • For the first two stars I tested several possibilities and possible paths.
The fastest was :
Take the first star in the cave -> use death to save time -> take the second star on the roof of the hut.
It is faster to use the death to save time that to go out of the cave by the exit having taken the first star and having go back to look for the second.
  • Before taking the fourth star I take at first the stick of dynamite which is going to serve me to explode a wall.

Explosive Mine

  • Very fast level.

Every Dog Has It's Day

  • Boring as Horseshoe.

Desperado City

  • Fire at three Ma Dalton to save time.

Runaway Train

  • I have still found a small improvement. I manage to rise directly on the roof of the train without being obliged by me to stick on it, which could save some frames in the any% TAS. Due to this saving of time there is a cloud of smoked which catches up me on the roof of the train what makes that I have to wait that it leaves.

Other comments

I am sorry but I realized that the versions of my Lucky Luke's TAS were not in reality "USA" but well "Europe". Is it possible to apply this corrective to the publications ?

Masterjun: Judging faster than my shadow.
Masterjun: Fairly optimized run which maxed out the entertainment possible for a run of this game. It's still a pretty uneventful game and the viewer reception was non-existent rather dull. Accepting to the Vault as a new 100% category for this game.
feos: Pub.

I'll confirm and correct the versions of the games. Updated the version of the two Lucky Luke: Desperado Train runs to Europe (it's Europe-only, a USA version doesn't exist). The Lucky Luke runs sync on both USA and Europe. However, the movie was recorded on the USA version of the game (the emulator gives a warning of a wrong ROM on the Europe version), so I kept it on USA. But uuuh, a week has passed and not a single vote?
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)
