You are ripping apart this game and I thoroughly enjoy it :) I never realized how original and awesome the music in Metal Shark was. I understand why Rolanmen hated tasing Scaravich stage although I love to tas horizontal areas. It's more challenging and requires a lot of testing :) Keep it up!

No doubt this is an awe-some run. I much more prefer the "defeat all bosses" runs over the "skip 'em" ones. Not only is there more action and footage, it allows to gather awesome power-ups like the hyper dash.
However.. i think there's room for improvement. If my memory serves me right, there's a way to skip the slow "start-up" frames for dashing. I see you make a lot of ground dashes where you have these start-up frames. (or is it a small interval between landing and starting a dash?)
Iirc, you can just hold the dash button the entire level and only hit the jump button to make a dashed jump. (And hit jump again as soon as you hit the ground, hopping) This does not cost you start-up frames, and thus allows for faster dashing.
Now, i could be wrong because it has been several years since i last even touched it. Forgive me if i'm wrong.
I can't test this before posting because i don't have the rom. I'm curious about the test results.

It's been tested and crouching, which eliminates a ground dash start up length, but costs a frame, and then ground dashing is faster than dashjumping.
EDIT: For clarification, dashjumping goes at a constant 4 pixels per frame while a ground dash starts at 7 pixels per frame and gradually goes down to 4.

I started working on the project and im already improving 99 frames from the published TAS, also i teammed with FractalFusion.

About the route: Yammark - Mijinion - Mijinion - Final Stages.
The objective of this route is to get Zero and beat High Max through Mijinion's portal, wich is the fastest and nearest, so we also got Yammark before mijinion's stage since with it X can easily beat Ilumina. Enjoy
Um, I guess I'll put these ideas here.
Anyone want to TAS a few 100% runs for this game?
1a, 1b - Zero gets everything (involving a, X getting Zero without rescuing anyone or collecting a single nightmare soul, or b, the ugly scenario where he gets the ice block weapon and gets the Amazon 2nd stage. X ends up getting one boss kill and 200 souls).
2a, 2b - X gets everything (a. He gets zero. b. He doesn't)
3 - Rescues divided among X and Zero (Both end up with 8 Heart-ups and 4 Energy-ups each).
4 - Bastard run (Rescue everyone with one character, but all nightmare souls goes to the other).
Regarding 4 - The buffed character with 16 heart-ups and 8 energy-ups can't equip any parts. The other character can equip parts (5 if UH) but is stuck with entry-level health and energy. I think this kind run would be most entertaining. The TAS could branch out with the stat-buffed character clearing all bosses and finals stages, and the part-dependent one doing the same. Then the roles could be reversed, creating a potential of four separate runs off of two separate paths:
Path a - Buffed Zero clear, Part-equiped X clear
and
Path b - Buffed X clear, Part-equiped Zero clear
If you haven't noticed, this "bastard run" is my favorite idea.
Edit: also, the mediafire link for the encoded movie was invalid.
Actualy, FractalFusion made a route for a TAS, but most of us X6 TASers declined this idea, because of the simple fact of facing Dynamo 6 times (or either sucide 6-7 times).

Actually, I did make plans of that at one point, but never decided to do anything with it because it isn't interesting seeing the same stages gone through multiple times.

Samthe3rd: Or why not e. Just use whoever's faster to get whichever part?
I don't think I've seen this route. I'm curious. If it does include the Dynamo stages, though, I don't agree with that. Armor parts, heart tanks, sub tanks, reploids, and Zero are what should entail 100%. You shouldn't have to visit a Dynamo stage if there's nothing there (Yammark). You shouldn't be required to kill him every time because he always comes back and you should have enough souls to get you through. No need to max out the rank either.
As others have pointed out, revisiting (nearly) every stage isn't very interesting for a TAS.
The thing is, in a 100% run, since most of the stages do have reploids in secondary areas (ie Wolfang has just ONE, the Jumper part), and since (I'm pretty sure) you can't exit out of secondary areas (post-portal, regardless of having beaten the stage already), you only have two options: defeat Dynamo or suicide multiple times.
You do have to go to a Dynamo stage to get Zero. And I don't know why you would in a 100%, but you could also go to one to fight High Max and open the Gate stages early.
Since beating any of the 8 main bosses nets you 200 souls, this means accessing the Gate stages via beating High Max in the secondary area. (As opposed to beating all 8 bosses or collecting 3000 souls.)
But damaging High Max requires one of the following things:
1. Special weapon with Normal/Falcon/Blade X (including Guard Shell + Blade Armor combination, as used in SDA's speedrun in Gate's Lab 2)
2. Special technique with Zero (usually Ensuizan or Shoenzan)
3. Shadow Armor X (Tip of charged attack)
4. Ultimate Armor X (Nova Strike after Plasma Shot)
(1) and (2) are already out, since we're going by a hypothetical "No Souls" run. (As no weapons/techniques can be gained.)
(3) requires collecting four Shadow Armor parts, one of which is in Metal Shark Player's stage, and, as far as I know, can NOT be collected with normal (unarmored) X, Falcon Armor X, or Zero UNLESS certain parts are equipped OR certain weapons are used.
ie Ground Dash to move the Nightmare blocks (if Scaravich's effect is there), Magma Blade to slow/reset X's descent, Jumper/Speedster/Hyper Dash to cross the gap in a single bound, etc.
Again, since no weapons can be collected (since defeating bosses nets you souls), and no parts can be equipped (since a minimum of 500 souls is needed to be rank A), it is therefore impossible to complete the Shadow Armor in a "No Souls" run. So (3) is out.
That leaves (4), which can only be accessed via a cheat code at the beginning of the game.
Gate's Lab 1 will have to be completed with Zero (who has a double jump), as Ultimate Armor X cannot progress past the spike walls without help from Jumper/Speedster and/or Ice Burst.
tl;dr: A "No Souls" is possible, but requires a cheat code for the Ultimate Armor.
Just let's forget about that idea, for the 100%, i think that the route involves on going the secondary area of inami temple to get zero and hyper dash, and therefore, beat every investigator without going to any secondary areas, avoiding a fight with High Max.
X should at least get Hyper Dash so he can be used in Gate 2.

For a 100% (all reploids saved) the secondary areas do need to be visited a few times, though, but in this manner:
1: get Zero in Inami
2: beat all 8 investigators to skip high max
3: get all reploids in all secondary areas except amazon area
4: do gate stages
The problem is, X is still mostly useless like in the all stages run. Zero would probably be superior time-wise in the secondary areas because he can just SDC Dynamo and X can't. The run would just consist of Zero collecting Hyper Dash, Jumper and maybe Saber Plus if there's room for that, and then collecting everything X would use but never does use because he's never played.
