So we have a pony thread here and that one's obviously staying. But there's so much more than the ponies to be had in today's cartoon world. There have been some attempts at individual show threads but they never really got going, so let's instead have a thread about all of the cartoons. Cartoons, such as... This list will no longer be updated
Whaaaaat time is it? In the Land of Ooo, there's a lot of adventures to be had. Actually named "Adventure Time with Finn and Jake", but even if Finn and Jake are still what should be considered the main characters a lot of episodes don't even feature them outside of the intro. Has a large cast of many other interesting characters, such as scientist-ruler Princess Bubblegum, adorable robot/video game system BMO, vampire queen Marceline and not entirely effectual bad guy Ice King. Was fairly good from the start, but really got going with season 3.
In a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals live side by side, BoJack Horseman, the washed-up star of the 1990s sitcom Horsin' Around, plans his big return to celebrity relevance with a tell-all autobiography that he dictates to his ghostwriter Diane Nguyen. BoJack also has to contend with the demands of his agent and on-again-off-again girlfriend Princess Carolyn, the misguided antics of his freeloading roommate Todd Chavez, and his frenemy Mr. Peanutbutter, who is also Nguyen's boyfriend.
An animated adaptation of the popular video game series, airing as a Netflix exclusive. When his wife is burned at the stake after being falsely accused of witchcraft, the vampire Count Dracula declares all the people of Wallachia will pay with their lives. He summons an army of demons which overruns the country, causing the people to live lives of fear and distrust. To combat this, the outcast monster hunter Trevor Belmont takes up arms against Dracula's forces, aided by the magician Sypha Belnades and Dracula's dhampir son Alucard.
A reboot of the classic show, the new DuckTales - commonly referred to as DuckTales (2017) - brings it into the modern era. While it of course still features all your favourite ducks, including Scrooge McDuck and his three grandnephews, this iteration of DuckTales also involves the mostly missing from the original series Donald, a couple of entirely new faces, and redesigns for a lot of the familiar ones. It also tries to stick a bit closer to the comics than the old show did, namely those by Carl Barks and Don Rosa.
For their summer vacation, 12-year-old twins Dipper and Mabel Pines are dropped off from their home in California to the fictitious town of Gravity Falls to live with their Great Uncle. Things are not what they seem in this small town, and with the help of a mysterious journal that Dipper finds in the forest, they realize that their everyday lifestyle has changed.
The animated incarnation of the fourth generation of the popular toyline. Socially awkward unicorn pony Twilight Sparkle is sent off from the grand capital of Canterlot to the small town of Ponyville to learn about friendship. At least that's how it started once upon a time and is quite different now. Once the internet's darling with a fandom mostly consisting of the teritary audience, now considered by many to be past its prime. The first two seasons are fairly agreed on to be the best ones, with the decline starting in season 3.
Two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg, become lost in a strange forest called the Unknown. In order to find their way home, the two must travel across the, apparently magic, forest with the help of the wise, elderly Woodsman and Beatrice, an irritable bluebird who travels with the boys in order to find the woman of Unknown called Adelaide, that can undo the curse and make the half-brothers go back to their home.
Rick is an eccentric, elderly, alcoholic scientist who has moved in with his horse surgeon daughter Beth's family. He spends most of his time taking his young grandson Morty on dangerous, outlandish adventures throughout the cosmos and alternate universes. Compounded with Morty's already unstable family life, these events cause Morty much distress at home and school.
A real longrunner that debuted in 1997. With a deliberately crude animation style (it started as cutout animation, and is now computer animation that looks like it's cutout animation), it was one of the early "adult" animated shows. While it's often thought of as infamous for its toilet humour and the like, it's actually often fairly poignant and can amidst the insanity have some pretty good points. Has a very short production time for episodes, which has lead to some episodes over the years where plots have been literally taken from the headlines.
Star Butterfly is a magical princess from the dimension of Mewni who, on her 14th birthday, receives the family heirloom wand. However, after she accidentally sets fire to her castle, her parents decide that a safer option is to send her to Earth as a foreign exchange student.
Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl are lesbian space rocks the Crystal Gems, who protect the earth and especially their hometown Beach City from a variety of threats that mostly consist of gem monsters. Also a part of the team is young Steven Quartz Universe, a half-human half-gem who has inherited his mother Rose Quartz's powers but don't have perfect control over them yet. Rose used to be their leader, but she had to give up her physical form to give birth to Steven (it's complicated, okay). Steven does what he can to get the hang of his powers and be a useful part of the team, as well as dealing with the kind of stuff a kid his age normally would. Notable for being Cartoon Network's first show created by a woman (Rebecca Sugar, who previously was on the Adventure Time staff). Starts out decent, gets really good towards the end of season 1.
The series follows Wander, a nomadic and overly-optimistic intergalactic traveler and his Zbornak best friend and steed Sylvia as they travel from planet to planet helping people to have fun and live free, despite the continuing encroachment of Lord Hater, most powerful villain in the universe, and his army of Watchdogs.
A show that follows three bear brothers: Grizzly, Panda and Ice Bear. During their attempts at integrating with human society, when purchasing food, making human companions or trying to become internet famous, the bears struggle to assimilate the civilized nature of humans. However, in the end, they soon figure out that they have each other for support. Obviously these aren't the only ones we can talk about. If there's some that you believe should be listed here, let me know. And it is never the wrong time to talk about old, classic cartoons! Finally, when it comes to spoilers, the policy is basically "don't be a dick". We have spoiler tags, use them. I've found a good rule of thumb to be to consider an episode to be in spoilerville until the next episode has aired. If the latest episode was the season finale, give it at least a week.

Woo topic! I've got a recommended episode order for people who want to get into Steven Universe but don't know what to watch. It contains the majority of the plot related shibang, plus some good other episodes. Bear in mind that it gets better the further you go into the series. If you're not into important stuff like establishing the world and concepts, just start with Mirror Gem and go from there. Season 1 1) Laser Light Cannon 2) Cheeseburger Backpack 3) Bubble Buddies 4) Steven's Lion 5) Giant Woman 6) Steven the Sword Fighter 7) Lion 2: The Movie 8) Rose's Room 9) Coach Steven 10) An Indirect Kiss 11) Mirror Gem (1) 12) Ocean Gem (2) 13) Lion 3: Straight to Video 14) Warp Tour 15) Alone Together 16) The Test 17) Future Vision 18) On the Run 19) Maximum Capacity 20) Marble Madness 21) Rose's Scabbard 22) Open Book 23) Story for Steven 24) The Message 25) Political Power 26) The Return (1) 27) Jail Break (2) Season 2 1) Full Disclosure (3) 2) Joy Ride 3) Reformed 4) Sworn to the Sword 5) Keeping it Together 6) We Need to Talk 7) Chille Tid 8) Cry for Help 9) Keystone Motel 10) Friend Ship 11) Nightmare Hospital 12) Catch and Release 13) When it Rains 14) Back to the Barn 15) Too Far 16) The Answer 17) It Could've Been Great 18) Message Received 19) Log Date 7 15 2

Guess I should post my Adventure Time (best cartoon! Well, not counting South Park) recommended episodes list here too. List is now complete, because all seasons of AT have aired. - Evicted! The episode that's the best episode would not be the best if you're watching it on its own because it needs context to actually be the best, but Thank You works very well on its own. I also do have a list for Steven Universe, but it's less a recommended episodes list and more a list of episodes to watch if you want to get into the show but don't feel like watching all of it. Basically episodes needed to not miss anything. It's similar but not identical to list posted above: Season 1 episodes to watch - 01 Gem Glow - 02 Laser Light Cannon - 07 Bubble Buddies - 10 Steven's Lion - 12 Giant Woman - 16 Steven the Sword Fighter - 17 Lion 2: The Movie - 19 Rose's Room - 20 Coach Steven - 24 An Indirect Kiss - 25 Mirror Gem - 26 Ocean Gem - 35 Lion 3: Straight to Video - 36 Warp Tour - 37 Alone Together - 40 On the Run - 44 Marble Madness - 45 Rose's Scabbard - 46 The Message - 47 Political Power - 48 The Return - 49 Jailbreak And once season 2 rolls around, just watch it all. Jailbreak is easily the best SU episode but also an episode that requires context, SU is not a show where you can just dive in whereever.

Because so many people sung praises for it, I once gave Adventure Time a chance, and watched the first two seasons. I didn't get it. I found it mostly boring and pointless, and didn't find much enjoyment or idea in it. And hey, I'm a quite open-minded person when it comes to cartoons (I'm a rather avid fan of MLP:FiM after all). I know that people say that it becomes better in later seasons, and in fact I tried watching a few episodes from those later seasons, but I still found it mostly boring, uninteresting and pointless. I just couldn't see what other people are seemingly seeing. On a completely different tangent... Not really a cartoon series, but I recently watched the Pixar film Inside Out. I don't know exactly why, but this is by far one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time. Not just animated movies, but movies period. Maybe it's not for everybody, but somehow it resonated with me just perfectly. I love this movie. I actually went and bought it in BluRay, not only just to be able to watch it again, but as a kind of gesture of appreciation for a masterpiece. I don't often buy movies, but this one I just had to; it felt like the right thing to do. It may seems like just a silly Pixar's kids movie... but I don't know, it just resonates with me.

Yeah first two seasons are pretty eh.

It's certainly not a show you can just jump into. If you want to give it another go, try following Kennyman's view order. Anyway on the topic of Adventure Time, l might as well say my favorites(z) First off, the best character by far is Marceline because she's completely chill, is a vampire, has a good voice actor, and has a cool backstory. I'm very glad Season 7 is finally giving us more Marceline, especially with the Stakes mini-series. Favorite episode is a bit tougher, mainly due to how insanely good late season 4/season 5 is. So, I'll split it up a tad. In terms of sheer emotional impact and character development, I Remember You. In terms of sheer rewatchability, What Was Missing. I am glad that AT has gotten back on track with plot/character episodes. Nothing worse then having an episode revolve around Jake's butt. Would probably rank the seasons as follows: Season 5 (everything except wizards only, fools) Season 4 (finale, iry, l&p, card wars) Season 6 (premiere, finale, the tower) Season 7 (stakes, crossover, varmints) Season 3 (wwm/hjs) Season 2 (season finale) Season 1 (introducing marceline...?) Onto SU......

Rewatched it, and yeah it's probably the best one. Action, song number, jokes, etc. I really love Sworn to the Sword and The Answer though. Favorite character is Garnet. Do I even need to elaborate. Second is Connie. Again, do I need to elaborate.

Archer. The pilot episode is not good, but keep watching. It's absolutely not for children.

Marceline is a good character but my favourite AT character remains Princess Bubblegum. She's by far the most complex character on the show and is great because she's a literally pink princess who doesn't conform to any stereotypes that description might normally imply. Marcy is a definite second though. Also yes, Garnet is easily best SU character and cemented that position for herself forever with Jailbreak. Since it's just ten episodes, I've been kind of considering giving Over the Garden Wall a watch. I hear it's good.

When it comes to cartoons, there's more than meets the eye. I had a brother who was a fan of the Transformers. About cartoons I watched. I remember watching Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls. Those were good times. Currently, I am a fan of a certain show about horses. I also have a liking to the Littlest Pet Shop. Well, that show was too good to last, giving that season 4 is its last. What a shame...

Gravity Falls is quite good. It starts a little slow then things got crazy (good fun). "Fighting children is boring. Fighting a Chaos God sounds like fun!" Archer is NOT for children, but the jokes are mostly verbal. And quite humorous. Rick and Morty is ABSOLUTELY NOT for Children. It's humor is based on playing with science and being fast and semi-loose with it.

Rick and Morty is the best cartoon I've seen. Here's a quick analysis of the series, for those who have watched it. Contains SPOILERS: Link to video EDIT: For finding new cartoons to watch, I recommend making a custom list with IMDb, like this for example: http://www.imdb.com/search/title?genres=animation&sort=user_rating,desc&title_type=tv_series,mini_series&num_votes=5000,

Oh-kay, watched a ton of AT and I can officially say I was totally wrong about Season 6. It's probably its best season, or at least comparable to 3-5. I feel like Breezy just turned me off to a ton of the cool stuff in it for a while, plus there was general fatigue over all the filler. Now that I can just watch all the good stuff without waiting it's much better. Here's my own viewing order for AT. It has a lot more filler then Kenny's list, but said filler is so good that I can't possibly skip it. -The Enchiridion! (S01E5) -Ocean of Fear (S01E16) -Dungeon (S01E18) -Henchman (S01E22) -Rainy Day Daydream (S01E23) -His Hero (S01E25) - It Came from the Nightosphere (S02E01) - Mortal Folly (S02E25, Part 1) - Mortal Recoil (S02E26, Part 2) - Morituri Te Salutamus (S03E02) - Memory of a Memory (S03E03) - Too Young (S03E05) - Fionna and Cake (S03E09) - What Was Missing (S03E10) - No One Can Hear You (S03E15) - Thank You (S03E17) - The New Frontier(S03E18) - Holly Jolly Secrets (S03E19-20) - Dad's Dungeon (S03E25) - Incendium (S03E26, Part 1/2) - Hot to the Touch (S04E01, Part 2/2) - They Went to the Nightosphere (S04E05, Part 1/2) - Daddy's Little Monster (S04E06, Part 2/2) - In Your Footsteps (S04E07) - Princess Cookie (S04E13) - Card Wars (S04E14) - Sons of Mars (S04E15) - Burning Low (S04E16) - King Worm (S04E17) - Lady & Peebles (S04E19) - I Remember You (S04E25) - The Lich (S04E26) - Finn the Human (S05E01) - Jake the Dog (S05E02) - All the Little People (S05E05) - Jake the Dad (S05E06) - Mystery Dungeon (S05E08) - Bad Little Boy (S05E11) - Vault of Bones (S05E12) - Simon and Marcy (S05E14) - Puhoy (S05E16) - Shh! Okay, so I've now watched the new SU episodes. Was about time. I'll spoiler my thoughts just in case. They were kind of odd as season openers, and would have made a lot more sense as a continuation of season 2. As it was, none of the overarcing storylines in season 2 got much of a conclusion apart from Peridot's stuff, but even then, that was a part of the Cluster arc. And on that note... did anyone else think the conclusion we got to that now with Gem Drill was a bit of an anti-climax? With how it had been talked up as the greatest threat to the Earth there is, it ends with the mission to reach it getting a single episode and then it's all IT DOESN'T WANT TO DO THIS and it's just locked up. Because it's totally a good idea to leave that unstable thing where it is.

Four episodes in and I'm not really feeling this new season of SU yet, though completely unamused Lapis did me a funny and the end of E4 gives me some hope for the upcoming episodes, at least.

See I'm the exact opposite, I already think this season is fantastic. I mean, we finally got resolution to the Malachite and Cluster arcs after months of waiting, for one thing. Plus, 'Hit the Diamond' in general is easily one of the best episodes the crew has ever made.

I was recently informed that the new Voltron that Netflix was publishing already has several episodes put out. I'm only two episodes into it, but I am loving it.

Okay so that's season 3 of SU done. Apart from Lapis who more or less remained the best thing of the season, it really started out quite tepid, with an in my opinion far too quick cleaning up of Malachite and an utterly unsatisfying conclusion to the cluster arc. Mr. Greg was the first actually good episode of the season and then it got going for real with Alone at Sea and almost all of the rest of the episodes were good stuff. The reveal towards the end (not that Pink Diamond existed because that had been super obvious for forever, but that Rose had actually shattered her) was actually a good reveal too. Aaaaand apparently season 4 is airing already. The schedule of this show makes no fucking sense. I figured I was going to catch up on Adventure Time first but looks like there's not actually been any more episodes since the latest one I saw. Edit: And then the first episode of season 4 is literally a Looney Tunes episode.

Season 2 of the new Voltron is up on Netflix now. Currently I'm debating if I should do one episode a day, or one a week. Y'know, really milk it out.

Fifty years have passed. But he does not age. Time has lost its effect on him. Yet, the suffering continues. Aku's grasp chokes the past, present and future. Hope is lost. The beginning has just started to the last season, and it was damn entertaining and defiantly darker than the original. [adult swim] is repeating the first episode on their site as a stream. Online it's 24 minutes an episode (well just a bit under). At the time of the post the repeat starts at X:47. Give yourself leeway. [adult swim] also hosted an AMA with Genndy Tartakovsky (17:55 for the start): Link to video

I watched Star vs. the forces of evil's season 3 finale which recently aired and I think I'm liking it. Maybe I will watch the other episodes soon.

EDIT: Meh, some mod merged my thread into here. I would have liked it to be its own thread, but okay then. I'd like to give my thoughts after discovering this Disney cartoon show. I have watched many relevant (but not all) episodes. I will not spoil too much for those who have not watched. If there is already a thread, please merge. --- The humor and art style is definitely refreshing after I was only used to MLP. What I really dig is that it's an ongoing story where anything seems possible. I can relate to most characters and empathize for them. The songs are also really catchy (season 3 outro and Space Unicorn, in particular). When I watch an ongoing story, I love to see villains. And I don't mean "monster of the week" villains but recurring, powerful ones. Ludo seems like a joke villain (similar to Igthorn in Gummi Bears), but at least he is recurring and has some kind of motivation, which is to get Star's wand. I really did love Toffee for his intellect, calm-mindedness and his ability to regenerate; also his motivations are different from Ludo's, which makes things more interesting. I still don't know who Eclipsa, Meteora and Globgor is. They seem to be up to no good. It was said that Butterfly castle(?) belonged to them in the first place(?). So there is a confusion of where is the line between good and bad, which I really like. Apparently, unlike MLP, the show uses "killed", "dying", etc. instead of "wiped out" and "gone". The show sometimes kills off characters which is not usual for a cartoon show and another plus point for me. The show also does a lot romance-wise, which is sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. I'm thinking if the show ships characters together, then it risks losing fans that dislike the ship. For example, I really don't like TomStar. But we will see how it keeps going. Anything seems possible. By the time season 3 reached its middle point, Marco basicly said farewell to Mewni only to come back because he misses the place. That seems like a bad excuse to make the story work out and bring Marco and Star back together again. --- Please tell your thoughts about this show and let me know where I can find interesting content or fan creations.

I think the show slowed down too much in the middle of the third season, after Toffee was gone. Nevertheless, the last few episodes were very good. Unfortunately they did go too far with the ships and now inevitably a good part of the viewers will be unsatisfied. Still, I'm definitely looking forward to the 4th season - I personally hope to see Janna and Buff Frog again, they were good characters who disappeared in the middle of 3rd season.
