Been trying to get this emulator working and it is... except it ignores any sort of button input. Whether I set it to use the keyboard or a controller, it just ignores it.
I had this same issue before with ePSXe a couple of months ago, but I forget how I resolved it. The particular game in question here is Breath of Fire III, if it matters. When it happened with ePSXe, some games had the issue, and others played fine, but as I said, I forget how I resolved it. Been tinkering with settings, but to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas for fixing this issue?
That would be good advice, if not for the fact BizHawk runs like complete crap on my PC. All I need is a basic PSX emulator that has LUA support, and with the exception of this one issue, PCSX-rr meets those needs wonderfully (from what little of the game I've seen due to this issue).
Was I incorrect in thinking PCSX-rr had LUA support? Is PSXjin a more updated version of PCSX-rr? How's about you start being more helpful and less snide and condescending.
And I'm going with the option that doesn't involve spending the money on PC upgrades, especially considering I use a laptop. So how about you drop that whole argument right here and now.

What are you on about? I am being helpful.
I told you to use psxjin or alternately upgrade your laptop (well pc) to something that can run Bizhawk at 60fps.

Lancet, BizHawk frequently gets upgraded to be better and less intensive on peoples' machines. If the last version you tried was < 1.11.x, you might want to consider upgrading and trying again. If not, you might be stuck using your subpar emulator that doesn't want to pay attention to your input.
I am still the wizard that did it.

<scrimpy> at least I now know where every map, energy and save room in this game is
I tried the version that was released in the past few months. 1.11.3 or something. It ran so horribly I may as well not be playing a game at all.
All I want is a PSX emulator that can run basic LUA scripts. I'm not looking to make TAS videos or anything like that, and I only joined here because this is the only place I could find that had people knowledgeable about PSX emulators with LUA support.
I downloaded PSXjin and tried it, but it won't advance past the opening movie of the game, which it gets halfway through before just stopping. Now, something tells me that PCSX-rr and PSXjin aren't somehow terrible emulators that barely worked and yet were used for at least some period of time despite those unplayable flaws. Both of them SEEM to perfectly meet my needs in terms of performance, with the exception of the issue I'm having with each of them.
Thanks for those links, although I actually found them via google searches earlier. Unfortunately, they don't offer any solutions for the problems I'm having.
And I'm not looking for a TAS emulator, as I mentioned earlier. I just want something that will play a game and has LUA support. Basically, like ePSXe with LUA support. And so far, PCSX-rr seems to be doing a better job than PSXjin, since the latter seems to freeze halfway through the splash screens when starting the game.
What I mean is, you suggested with your "PCSX-rr and lua support in the same sentence, very funny" comment that PCSX-rr does not, in fact, have LUA support, or that the support is very suspect at best (and thus wouldn't actually do what I want it for).
I basically have two criteria for the emulator here:
1: Plays games at normal speed fairly well (turbo/fast forward preferred but optional).
2: Can run basic LUA scripts.
I was/am hopeful I can fix the PCSX-rr issue, because even if it's the most inferior emulator being discussed here, from what I've seen it runs fine, but if it does indeed have serious issues running LUA scripts, then it's a moot point to me.
I used PCSX in the past and used Lua most of the time. I never had a problem with Lua (don't know what scripts you're using though).
Controller plugin "Segu Direct Pad Pro Driver 0.4" works for me (in PCSX-RR v0.1.3). I never tested BOF3 though.
