Hello newcomers, I just made a video about how to make a TAS using BizHawk. When started tassing it was a struggle how to use the Emulator. So I made a video for the newcomers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj8J_l2lc2I Do you have any tips for the description? Maybe annotations you want to point out in the video? Leave a comment. I put alot of effort in this video and I hope it will help everyone that struggles with this emulator!

um, cool, thanks. I like the idea of someone making a helpful video like this. If I may share random thoughts and nitpicks: 1) ew Internet Explorer ^_^ 2) Why do you google tasvideos? seems like bizhawk is a more logical search term 3) You had to scroll way down on the BizHawk page to get to the download links, that was enlightening, thanks, I move it higher on the page 4) The download is a zip, and windows comes with zip extraction you don't need to use winrar (and therefore you need not encourage users to do this). Also, winrar isn't very portable and 7z is both portable and better (and free, you are supposed to pay for winrar, not ignore the trial expired message), it should be used and recommended when your default zip extraction won't do (Not that BizHawk is very portable, but I digress) 5) There's nice shortcuts that would help you (and maybe could be shown in your video such as: -Config -> Save Config, rather than closing and reopening the emulator to save it -Right-click -> record movie, instead of navigating to the menu item -Right-click -> Load last rom, and Load last movie 6) That is the most overly epic music for what you are doing in the video, ever :) But I love it. Everyone should imagine this music when talking about BizHawk, the emulator is just that epic. Also picture batman using it.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

1) I knew it, IE masterrace XD I prefer IE over Google Chrome, I can find my favorite webpages easier there. 2)I google tasvideos because that's the only place I knew where they had BizHawk, didn't think about googling BizHawk. Enjoy your free advertisement ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). 4) I'm not a big IT guy, but i'll add it in the video. Thanks :P 5) Going to add that to as an annotation. 6) The first 2 songs I used are from a game called Ratchet & Clank 2: Song names in order: 25 - Dobbo - Testing Facility 06 - Maktar Nebula - Maktar Resort Super Mario RPG - Forest Maze (Evil Stereo Electro Remix) Maybe you can add a ''sticky'' post with a tutorial on how to use this Emulator.

Once I see a person use Internet Explorer in a video, I stop watching immediately. To be worth a sticky thread, the video has to be much better than this.

Thank you Masterjun for not watching my video because I use internet explorer. I don't know the value of a sticky thread, I thought this video had some potentiol to new players. Please value my effort I put in this video.

So why would anyone watch your video over a video made by someone with a lot more experience? Why are 3 minutes of a 10 minute video dedicated to how to download the emulator? Why should we appreciate your "effort"? Was this really hard to make? What's going to happen when you start getting into the more complicated aspects of TASing? Do you even know the more complicated aspects enough to teach people about them? I appreciate that you're trying to help newbies, but I really don't think you're qualified for it at the moment.

Maybe for tips? It's Always useful to have some extra information. You can skip the first 3 mins if you want to, I've put information in the video when what happens and in the description. And yes it was really hard to make, adding the tekst and such cost alot of time. I show in the video I made, what I use to make a TAS. As you can see I myself am pretty new to TASvideos. Thank you for your comment, but I am thinking I posted this topic in the wrong section. Because I don't see any newbies XD

Aren't we a friendly bunch :^P I think this type of video walk through could be helpful to get people to try BizHawk. I agree too much time was spent on how to find it online. It's not an official reference quality video but it's probably useful for n00bs.

K, time for some grammar trolling. "By pressing the rewind button your rewinding current progress" "My PC is kinda slow if your looking at that FPS" "You need a little knowledge about the controllers your using" Quite a few 'you're' mistakes there, as well as 'controls' being misspelled too. Next, you frequently have black and white text over the fuzzy black and white background of Bizhawk, making it harder to read. What little information you do provide is trivial and pretty obvious I would've thought anyway; and your climactic ending TAS failed to explain what to actually accomplish in a TAS.

@Weatherton, thank you :P @Flip, as you can see English is not my first language. And I can't agree more with the ''frequently have black and white text over the fuzzy black and white background of Bizhawk''. I'm sorry about that :/ Well, I asume that most players already read about ''TAS'' somewhere, otherwise you wouldn't search for a video like mine. But thanks for the misspelled words, i'm working on that English m8.

Nitpick on the infomation about dumping in the video.
If you enter nothing, it will be the normal resolution (in this case 640x480)
This information is incorrect for n64. You edit the video resolution (n64 > Plugins) This is because n64 is OpenGL compared to all the other cores (including PS1). Upscaling the dump from 320x240 to higher resolution without modifying the video resolution in the console specific settings is a no, no.

Using Internet Explorer often implies a rather limited knowledge about the usage of software in any kind. Your so called "new users" are just new to TASing, however, they might not be new to other areas. I know a lot of people which think that the people that use Internet Explorer only use it, because they don't know better (which is usually the case). And that is a bad attitude to have towards a guy trying to teach you stuff.

Anything before IE11 and I completely agree. IE11 is (supposedly) more optimised than Chrome. Although to be honest, there isn't really a browser that isn't inefficient and/or bloated.

I know it is good to teach stuff, but when a post says something like this:

I think it should be understood why it may raise a negative response. There is this thing called tact.

Yeah, it was understood. I wrote my second reply to explain why I'm not the only one with this attitude.
