Just making this post to confirm that there is a new 0 star TAS in the works. We have found an improvement, so our time will be less than 5:01.95 (snark & ToT's TAS).

When sub-5 happens, the world will end.

Is there a "Collect every coin at least once" TAS out there? Combine that with the "A Button Challenge" for a really bizarre video.

There are some TASes collecting every coin of a single stage, but I haven't seen any TAS collecting every coin of the whole game. It might be interesting though...

I can understand why all these "variation" videos don't get listed on the main page but it would still be nice if they were collected to one spot.

Snark posted a really slick wall jump in BitS! :D Was that an improvement you guys found, or does this mean an even faster time?

Unfortunately, unless it lets us get another elevator cycle early for the ending BLJ, it won't save time.

Since Mupen's timing is wrong (the console-verified videos are slightly longer than the video dump from Mupen), it'll be unlikely 4:59 = actual sub 5:00. I sure hope this doesn't affect publication of future runs when a more accurate N64 emulator (ever) gets made. Then again, people will probably complain that a "longer" movie obsoleted a "shorter" one. :P

There's precedence of a longer movie in a more precise emulator obsoleting a less accurate emulator. Also, since the movie file can sync in the console, it's probable it could also sync in the new emulator.

It seems that the excess length for ~5minute 0 stars run is about 1.7 seconds or so (watching the console verification video for it). So one would have to get close to 4:58 reported time for the real run to be sub 5-min.

Hey guys! I've got some good news and some bad news. Good news: Link to video 3 frames saved. Read the description for more information. Bad news: We probably will not be finished by the end of the month. Now with this improvement we need to manipulate Bowser's dance, plus we still have other sections to complete, and we are all busy with exams/other life stuff. We will continue to work hard on this run though!

I quite like the way the new Bowser battle looks. He's just so eager to try and get a hit in, but in the end he just gets defeated even quicker than before :P
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
