Eru should’ve specified in the description that he didn’t find the glitch

Heh, you say that like it would actually make a difference. :P (for what it's worth, I agree, but giving credit won't make people any less stupid)

Eru doesn't speak much English and he might not have known that the glitch already existed. Nowhere did he even claim it to be new. Maybe he was just trying to make an entertaining video, God forbid. When someone uploads a freerun, they generally don't mention in the description that "X Person" found "Y Glitch" that I used at "Z Time of Video." That could take hours. What a stupid thing to whine about. Seriously, the original video has less than 300 views and had even less before Eru's video was posted. How can you guys (SammerZ included) blame anyone on here for not knowing about it? I honestly don't even know how this is being debated.

The thing is, in Freeruns (Good ones) there are generally many different tricks, and you wouldn't really notice if anything new was found, whereas, Eru's video is specifically about the one trick shown in the video, and even the title shows that the entire video was about this new trick, so he wouldn't need to put anything about where in the video the new trick is, since it's obvious, and made even more obvious when the title says "Mario got superslide" which basically is saying that there is a new sliding glitch, and since Eru didn't credit anyone in the description, everyone will think that he found it, when he didn't. I mean sure, Eru may have found it himself, but thats unlikely.

Excuse me, but are you having vagina problems? You seem to be dealing with a distinct lack of periods.

I've doing tests with TAS movie files, and decided to make an input viewer to see how it would look. Link to video

I don't fully understand the mentality of "owning" glitches. TASing, the way I see it, is about collaboration and improvement. We all work together in some capacity to improve existing runs, and thus, if you find a new trick and release it publicly, the most you should hope for is that people are grateful for such a find. But this is only a courtesy, really - just as you give something to that division of the community, you have taken things too. Or am I alone in this? :p The only way to truly own a glitch is to just not release it or not document it. But even that isn't fool proof, and often leads to bad circumstances. The worst of which is a halt of progression in TASes (i.e. the one frame improvement in BitDW that brian found, though I may misunderstand that situation).

That input viewer is really awesome. Adds a whole new dimension to the run! Watching the stick go crazy makes BLJs much more interesting, and I learned that the HSWKs in BitFS have a little swoop at the end, which is neat for someone who has never actually looked into the nitty-gritty of how m64 tasing works. So, thanks!

Could this be possible on a tas, or is that guy trolling?
So yea, how's it going? Currently TASing: Nothing

Was no trolling. He just edited the rom, as stated in the description, to reach a different area when you enter the painting.

When he says it might be possible in TAS via overflow, he means that if you could find a way to specifically manipulate write functions in this game, you might be able to abuse this. Think how the Super Mario World run does some silliness with Yoshi and enemies to skip straight to the credits, or wrong warp in Ocarina of Time... finding a way to write values in ways they aren't supposed to be (abusing programming errors, basically) could be used here. Unfortunately I am not aware of any means we have to mess with write values in SM64, though as I only follow this game casually there may be ways to do this. I'm sure those who have TASed this game have a better idea. For the immediate future I don't think we'll see anything come of this.
I will not use self-reference in my signature.

from YT comments: “Maybe through a variation of the Koopa Shell/Bob-Omb glitch where it loads different sprites when you go to certain areas? SMBKING2008 in reply to MrHigmatar (Show the comment) 15 hours ago” I’ve always wondered why that glitch didn’t seem to get much attention… could something be done with it?

Actually, it would be written as: Cool Cool mountain freerun by dennisbalow, non5en5e and myself. So, re-fixed.
